If this review were based on staff, community, or the good feels you get from this place solely, it would get 6/5 stars. As it stands, as far as the actual facility goes I want to give it 3/5 stars. The staff are fantastic, caring, intelligent people who I like very much. They are just the very best part about this place. The people who go to this gym are great. Real nice, down-to-earth people who are friendly and smile while wishing you a good day - and they mean it. Ive gone to this gym on and off since I was 5 years old ...over 25 years. During that time the roof has sprung multiple leaks and none of them have been fixed. Sure, they have been patched and fussed over - no fixes. The roof is a point of serious issue. Many times per year a serious leak will pop up and close down small portions of this facility. Today (mid summer) a light fixture that was anchored into a spot on the ceiling that had an obvious water damage fell onto a machine in the dead center of the workout room. The staff did an admirable job of keeping patrons safe and working hard to fix the issue. My point is this. The owner of this place doesnt care about this facility. They accept medicare/social security patrons of some variety and therefore are not concerned about staying competitive with other local gyms. The cost of membership is quite high considering how often the building tends to fall apart. I really love this gym and will continue to be a member as long as I can. I just hope that they owner decides to do something serious about the long-term safety of the members here.

Im still in shock at how incredibly rude the entire staff was today when I stopped in to inquire about a new membership. I called prior to find out how much a membership would be and headed in ready to sign up. When I got there the entire front desk was rude and it felt like I was a huge inconvenience. I was handed three papers about "classes and stuff" and during my extremely brief tour of the run down facility when I asked her a question she would tell me that "it was in the papers." Wow, super helpful. Thanks. The place is SO dated and full of old people that Im really glad I took the tour. It seems from their customer service that they have no interest in attaining new customers, and from the looks of the place, because they have no new customers, they have no money for any updates. Silly me, I thought that athletic clubs WANTED our business, but this one definitely does not. Will gladly be taking my business elsewhere where there are no rediculous start up fees and you can get more than a one day trial pass. Oh, and where they actually have customer service. How does this place even still operate??

In the short time I was a member I discouvered why my membership fees were so high. First of all, not everyone has to pay for their membership here. Seniors on Medicare are free. They dont pay for use of the club and get all of the extra classes not available to everyone else like Silver Sneakers for no cost to them. The play area is primary used by the staff as a very inexpensive day care. Even members pay very little for the services. Most of the costs comes from everyones monthly fees. And you can only hope not to accidently get in the cross hairs of one of those long term members that bully people they decided dont belong at this club. One of the mean moms "Cindy" decided, for no reason I can think of, to make my time at Lakeshore the worst it could be. Staff will not help you if such an issue comes up. I fully expect the comments to follow this one to read something like, "Oh no, not here!" They just want people to join to pay their fees so the programs they want stay free or practically free. They can always bully you out later.

If I could give zero stars I would. This gym is rediculous. Such a waste of money and they cater to themselves and not their members. The gym feels dirty, their hours are inconvenient, especially the weekend. They charge extra for everything from childcare to having a guest. They do not communicate well at all with their guests. Its ran by young adults who honestly act like they are clueless. Its way too overpriced for what you get. Also The one time my kid went into the childcare he got a nasty hand foot and mouth disease. They obviously never clean anything in that place! I would never recommend this gym to anyone. Stay far away!!!!! I feel like I was constantly treated rudely.

I really dont understand where all this negativity is coming from. I grew up with Lake Shore; have been going there since I was 6-years-old and because of this have used pretty much every facility theyve got: the kids play area, the indoor and outdoor pools, the weight room, locker room, basketball, tennis and racquetball courts and everything else in between. In my time there, have never had a negative experience with anyone, staff or customer. As far as I know, the place is still family-owned and it shows. They care about this athletic club. Dont be turned off by the very few individuals that had a supposedly negative experience here; Lake Shore is great.

We joined about 6 months ago and are very happy with LSAC. They have a wide range of equipment are not missing anything that I would need or expect. I use the weight room, basketball courts and the treadwall (like a rock climbing treadmill) and my wife uses the eliptical machines and the weightroom. We also bring our kids to the indoor pool (and theres a seasonal outdoor pool with a waterslide). The staff has been very friendly and helpful. Our only complaints are that the weekend hours arent long enough (not open late enough on Sat/Sun, or open early enough on Sun) and the locker rooms smell like, well, locker rooms and could use some updating.

We just joined this club about 2 weeks ago and are pretty happy so far. I wanted to leave a review because I was very hesitant about joining this club after reading all the other negative reviews. I havent experienced any of the rudeness or snobbery that other people are talking about. We have 2 kids who use the childcare facility and they never want to leave when its time to go home! If you have kids the child care facility is worth your membership alone (its huge and the staff is great). We have used the weight room, pools, exercise room, and child care so far. People are very friendly.

I am a current member (02/03/2017) and have been a member for a year. The gym participates in a "Silver" program which floods the gym with elderly. The free weight section of the gym is great, the treadmills are good (most of them), & the weight machines are mostly outdated. The ceiling is failing due to water leaks, the facility could use a fresh coat of paint. My family joined because the gym offers family workout times and has a great indoor and fabulous outdoor pool with slide. If the owners would put some money into the facility I would rate it better.
