I have been an LA fitness member since they purchased Pure Fitness in 2010. I have lived in southern Chandler and used the facility at 48th St and Chandler Blvd. until this facility opened. This facility is a 5 minute drive from my home, which is fantastic. The issues with gym are bad enough that I will be looking for a new gym, outside of LA fitness. While I give this gym an overall rating of 2 Starts, it’s not all bad. However, it will wear most individuals down. I’ll try to explain in detail. PROs - Free Weights: large set of dumbbells, wide selection of equipment with 3+ of heavily used equipment ie; bench and Squat rack. - A decent selection of machines. While the machines are Life Fitness they are better than home grade but not that of commercial quality. - Equipment is well maintained. If damaged and reported it is promptly repaired - Large 2nd floor cardio area. - Nice Locker Rooms, showers, and pool area. - The janitorial Staff keeps the gym clean, and smelling good. CONs - General Manager, Ryan Linnell, is completely indifferent towards members, heck even his own gym. While not openly rude, his demeanor and complete lack of engagement leave myself and most individuals who have spoken with him feeling unimportant and frustrated. Culture starts top down, the majority of staff, trainers and front desk, have the same lack luster approach to their job. On the average day the person manning the front desk manages to make most feel like the scanning of membership cards is a great and unjust burden. - Staff does not enforce gym policy or police the gym. From an equipment and weight perspective this leaves the gym an absolute MESS. It’s hard to find things, weights are EVERYWHERE, and equipment is not cleared. At times things will stay lying haphazardly for days until a member puts it away. These members are getting fed up and simply giving up. - Cardio Area is on the second floor, there are no fans on the equipment, ceiling, or walls. No floor fans can be found anywhere. While this is inconvenient in winter, during the summer and monsoon season it is an unbearable hot box. - The majority of trainers at this location will actively attempt to tire out or set trainees up for failure. They do not correct form even if the chance of injury is likely. They do not engage the everyday member or gym rats. They will allow people to misuse equipment or abandon weights without a word. I truly wish that changes could be made to the staff culture at this gym. I’d love to keep coming to this gym as it is so close, but the issues cause for an irritating experience which really effects your workout and mood, it’s not worth it.

I would HIGHLY recomened NOT signing up here. The staff is absolutely HORRIBLE!! I just moved into town, and a couple family members workout here so I decided to sign up for a membership and paid a RIDICULOUS initiation fee of $100 and paid for the first and last months dues so it added up to be about $171. Ive had the membership for not even 3 weeks and the manager Ryan just told me that they are revoking my membership because they accused me of "training" my family member because I was spotting him and we were doing the same workouts.. They advertise this place as being a friend and family gym but its obviously not! Good for them though because they ripped me off out of a lot of money and I was only able to use the facility for not even 3 weeks, and they will not refund me any of my money back besides the last month since Im barley half way through the first month.. So if you want to workout with your friends/or family DO NOT go here because they will rip you off! And on a side note the equipment never gets cleaned and the staff is very lazy and it is definitely a steroid friendly gym from what I saw.

Ive been a member since La Fitness purchased Pure fitness and have visited many of the LA locations throughout the valley. I recently moved to Chandler and was more than happy to find out a new location was opening to shorten my commute for a quick workout. That being send, this is one of the better locations in the valley and I frequent 3-4 times a week. While my interaction with the staff is minimal, no more than a simple greeting, the equipment is new and seems well maintained and unlike other reviews I dont find it to be a complete mess. Granted, some weights are left on the equipment, the staff will make their rounds and clean up after members, I dont see it necessary for them to stand guard and "police" the gym. Were adults, clean up after yourselves and others wont have to. I dont come to the gym for fancy fills, I use it for what it is, a place to work hard, sweat, and at end of the day see results.

The customer service at this particular LA fitness is absolutely horrible. Ive been a member of LA fitness clubs for 18 years and Im a competitive athlete that trains five days a week. Hands-down this club has no class, the general manager is a jerk and the sales reps are terrible. I personally referred a few of my friends there and they were treated like garbage. I was embarrassed and had apologize to my friends and their wives for the treatment they received. Ive never personally had a problem there because of my size I can be quite intimidating "but its not my character ". I started observing how others were treated and its the same as my friends. If youre not giving them money they dont want anything to do with you. Its sad because the other LA fitness locations are great but this particular one on Arizona Avenue I wouldnt recommend anyone.

Totally fraudulent sales practices. My husband has been a member for years, but only recently considered personal training. The sales person, Adam, flat out lied. He said the contract could be cancelled within 10 days. My husband spoke to him within the cancellation period and said he wanted to cancel. Adam said he would take care of it and wrote down his membership number. That was three months ago, the training was not cancelled, and they have now billed our card $840. No one returns phone calls including the manager, and Adam denies that he said he would cancel it. He actually approached my husband at the gym and said, "Are you trying to get me fired?" when my husband tried to speak to the manager. Completely unprofessional organization. Do NOT trust them.

In the many years of being a member there are a handful of cycle instructors that leave a wonderful imprint in your fitness journey. JennA at this location is by far one of the BEST I have ever found. She makes my Monday & Friday mornings so official. Quads on fire! Shes an athlete, trains like an athlete, and her kid is an athlete. I am so thankful that after 5 clubs I have been able to call this club home. ♡ . I look forward to her classes EVERY week, and I get STRONGER each week. Classes here would never be the same with out the BEAST MODE this woman brings!
