This is the third and last time I do business with this shop. Im an AAA member and like their travel services so I thought their auto repair service would also be good. I was wrong. The first time I went there was for a scheduled maintenance. I arrived 5 minutes early and waited there for 15 minutes watching the service guy talk on the phone. When he got off the phone and I approached him about the service, he accused me of being late. When I said I was early but waiting in line, he said, "Whatever, guy," and told me I would have to wait an extra 15 minutes for my car to be serviced because I was late. Completely rude and unprofessional. My second visit was better but took over an hour just to get an oil change. My third trip was for another oil change. I ended up waiting in line for 15 minutes again. During that time I got to witness them selling an elderly lady ceramic brakes when she repeatedly requested metallic brakes, which were ~$100 cheaper. Another couple ahead of me talked to the service guy and walked out in frustration before their car was even taken back to be serviced. When it was my turn to be seen, the service guy didnt believe me when I said I was next in line and wouldnt see me until the couple behind me told him I was next. Again, rude and unprofessional. Again, it took over an hour for an oil change. Another thing about this establishment is that they have a TV in the waiting room where you can see the mechanics at work... or I should say, mechanics milling about, talking, and drinking coffee. No wonder it takes so long for an oil change. I saw one mechanic just stare at a car for 20 minutes before walking away. One last thing... in the waiting room there is a water dispenser for the customers. I saw one of the mechanics drink from a water bottle and then refill it from the dispenser by sticking the mouthpiece of the bottle completely onto the dispenser spout. Gross.

The shop I previously used went out of business. Unfortunately, when I went to change the oil myself, I was unable to remove the filler plug. I had difficulty getting the wrench on it and my first attempt to unscrew the plug resulted in stripping the head. I messed it up further by trying a large vise grip that didnt work either. So, since AAA is just up the road from me, I thought Id give them a try. I made the appointment and explained the problem with the bolt head. Ron assured me they could take care of it and they did. When I took the truck in, I had a coupon for a free set of wiper blades. Ron said he was sorry but they didnt carry the type I needed. I wasnt too happy about that, but I was going to get the oil changed without the coupon to begin with, so it was no big deal. Anyway, when I picked up the truck less than 45 minutes later, Ron told me the threads on the plug hole had been damaged a bit. He said the new bolt straightened them out much like a tap and die set would have and everything should be okay. Since Ive had previous experience with such problems, I understood what he was telling me. The point is he didnt try to sell me further repairs or a new oil pan, both of which he could have. He also didnt charge extra. Anyway, as I was getting in the truck, he called out that he had been able to replace the wipers after all. He said the computer listed the wrong type for my Dakota, but he could have read it wrong the first time. Still, he didnt just let it go, so Im pretty happy with the service I received. I dont know how long Ron has been there, but he was very courteous with me, so I cant comment on the negative reviews. He did mention that the mechanic indicated a bearing on the driveshaft seemed a little worn, but didnt try to sell me repairs and just said its something we need to watch.

First day in, to get my squeaky brakes inspected, I stood at the counter for a good 2-3 minutes while the two girls behind the main counter watched a video on their phone. I was in full view of scott but apparently since I wasnt at his counter I wasnt his problem. After I went unnoticed there, I went to another counter and had to ask for help. I set up an appointment and dropped my truck off the next day. Scott called me later that day and rattled a list of things that were wrong and I couldnt hardly understand him because Im not very vehicle savvy. In person, we discussed the possible work to be done. I received little to no eye contact, which in any discussion (let alone between a customer and sales rep), told me that they didnt care about my situation. I asked them to walk me around the truck and point out the issues mentioned on the phone, and they said they would have to take the tires off again to show me the problems. I took that as completely ignoring their customers question. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to a different place and they said they could fix my brakes AND flush my brake fluid system for almost half the AAA discount price. The second place said my brakes had 80-85% life left (compared to 50% at AAA) and the work that was necessary at AAA was explained to me to be purely related to fixing the squeaky brakes. Also, AAA wanted to replace my rotors because the brake pads had cut grooves into them... The only thing the second place told me about my rotors was that they were a bit rusty. So they cleaned them as they did the work for me. The previous reviews raised flags, and the experience just solidified my decision to never get work done there or give a positive recommendation.

I took my 2006 Pontiac Wave (Ya, a Canadian vehicle made in Korea for GM) with a broken thermostat housing (plastic part from factory install) on Sunday, Oct 12th. Service tech called me Monday, first quoted $750.00, which he said included the housing (to be replaced with an aluminum GM part), a coolant flush, replacement of upper and lower hoses. When I told him that was outrageous, he said that he could bring it down to $359.00 (including tax), which I still believed was a "HOSE" job! When I picked up the vehicle, the breakdown of the invoice showed a charge of $143.00 for the thermostat housing, and 1.3 hrs of labor to install. I searched the genuine GM part on line (Rock Auto) and found it at $47.79, which represents a 300% markup. Because the part is very visible from the front of the motor and easily accessible, it could not have taken the mechanic more than 15 minutes to replace this part. I told them (Tim Hansen) at the service counter that I felt like I had been "ripped off", and his comments were nothing but argumentative. He did not make any concession to me at all!!!! I relied on the fact that the tow truck driver told me that this was a Triple A-owned shop, and therefore was NOT like taking my vehicle to a non-reputable shop. But in fact, this is exactly what happened - I allowed my vehicle to be towed to a non-reputable business, and feel like I was "ripped off". I had originally instructed the tow driver to tow it to my house in Avondale - oh how I wished I had listened to my son. We could have fixed the problem for about a $100.00. Live and learn - what appears on the surface sometimes is rotten in the center!!
