First off, let me preface this by saying I never write reviews and I think this might be the second one I have ever written. I do not think any business is perfect, but Mister Sparky was a whole new kind of bad. I manage a small business in Phoenix and we were a having some electrical issues with our track lighting. I called Mister Sparky to come in and see if they could help us. Hindsight...worst decision I could have made. The charge to come out is $79.99. This price does not include anything more than the electrician showing up. Once they show up they tinker by the electrical box and do absolutely nothing. They then run off a list of prices to start a troubleshooting. The lowest, a tier 1 and 2 start at $187 and go up from there. This troubleshooting does not include any REPAIR. So, after 10 minutes of the electrician showing up we already owe him $267, to do nothing! Beware of the diagnostic they give you. They try to scare you into thinking your whole business is going to burn down and essentially recommend that everything needs to be replaced. This guy even screamed and grabbed at his heart when he got shocked. My co-worker and I were concerned for him the FIRST time it happened, but when it happened for the TENTH time, I had no pity and realized he was playing us. After all, I do work in this building and I get shocked here and there...I dont scream. Mister Sparkys electricians go over board on theatrics to scare the customers into thinking they are not working in a safe environment. He also showed us a supposed burn mark on a light switch. I brushed off the light switch and said it was dust. He then said he "smelled burning". NOTHING WAS BURNING! I sent this guy on his way and called a different electrician . My NEW electrician repaired my issues for just over $200 and he was here for over two hours. I asked him about all of the other issues the electrician from Mister Sparky noticed. He said the guys at these big places work on commission, so they quote an exorbitant amount of work to be done. Not a good business at all. I cannot believe we wasted money on Mister Sparky. Let my experience warn others...do your research before hiring these guys.

Shame on me for using Mr. Sparky out of Tempe. We had a 110 AC line/conduit to a fountain that was just in the way of an upcoming excavation for our new pool. To remove the line out of the excavation area required installing 40 feet of 3/4 inch conduit, a small wall mounted junction box (receptacle box), disconnecting the wiring, pulling in back to the cut off point, running it to the junction box, and then running new wire for 15 feet from the junction box to the fountain. Trenches were opened up by myself and a landscaping contractor who reran a 3/4 inch water supply line to the fountain. Mr. Sparky did not have to backfill the trenches. I nearly fell over at the $1,200+ quote to do the work after they stated emphatically that they do not do time and material work and would not estimate how long the work would take nor estimate the material cost. I reluctantly agreed to have them do the work to expedite getting the interference out of the way for the excavator who was coming in the next few days. I was surprised also at the paperwork I was suppose to sign AND pay completely upfront. There surely was something I was missing on the work to be done. Two young men came, were 15 minutes late and it took them 2 and 1/2 hours to do the work. Material costs were $100 at the most. They placed part of the conduit directly on top of the water line that had been installed. I had to move the conduit when I backfilled to create some space between the two lines. I feel taken advantage for paying $1,200 for a $400 job, and blame my self for not delaying the excavation to obtain either other quotes, or an electrician who performs work on a time and material basis, which is the fairest way to perform work for both the contractor and customer. The landscaper performed his work (including transplanting a number of large palm trees) for $385. My recommendation to potential clients of Mr. Sparky to avoid the negative feelings that I have for this company is to obtain competitive quotes or insist on time and material work. Shame on me for not doing this.

A year ago I enlisted the help of Mister Sparky to replace my electric panel on my house. They were a little pricey but I figured that I would get good service and I even paid extra to be a "priority" customer (a yearly $99 fee). Well in the 11 months since they did the initial work on my house they have NOT ONCE shown up for any of the three appointment Ive made with them. They usually call to cancel about 15 minutes before the 4 hour window of when they are supposed to show up is over. Their website promises ON TIME all over the place, but I have never experienced that. On top of that, when they replaced my electric panel, they had to make a big hole in the stucco on the side of my house to fit the bigger panel. Which was expected. When I asked about the hole around the new panel the tech said that someone would be coming by in the next few weeks to patch up the hole. Well 11 months later, nobody has ever shown up. The only part about Mister Sparky that I was impressed with was Rodney, the only Tech that ever showed up. He was polite and explained everything to me thoroughly.. DO NOT USE MISTER SPARKY. They guarantee a lot but follow through on little.

It was a small issue, a circuit breaker got tripped but i cant find out where the outlet was, they give me 3 hr window and appointment was missed, when i got upset on the phone that they were going to miss the appointment the woman told me they are on their way. But they still missed it anyways. About half hour out side the appointment a tech showed up, he looked at it for a minute when i showed him where the problem was and told me their "basic" fee was 196$ for any troubleshooting and repair and it goes up wards to where i didn,t even want to look any more on their price chart, so i told him no and thank you, he called me back in and said he has to charge a 35$ service call fee. I said no i will not pay for the "free estimate" and he said okay i will waiver it. Geez thanks for not charging me for my "free estimate".

I just had Mr. Sparky come to my business and supply a quote to move a few receptacles about 1 foot from the power box, and run 2 more lines about 3 feet from the power box. The tech said it was only 2 hours worth of work and only needed to supply about 6 feet of conduit. I already had all the other items as they were being reused. I was expecting a quote of maybe $250-$400, and WOW was I surprised when I got the quote of about $1250.00. The tech said he talked to his boss and said it was such an easy job that his boss offered to come down to $997.00. I said no way. I cant believe Mr. Sparky is such a ripoff! On top of that I had to pay $99.00 just to have them give me their bloated quote. Please, please stay away from Mr. Sparky unless you want to pay $500.00/hour for their services!
