I was excited for my spa day experience at Spirit Salon. On arrival, Dolly asked me to choose alunch choice from Blue Willow--I chose a spinach salad that came with soy bacon, egg, etc. I changed into the RUBBER robe I was given (not the plush ones like REAL spas have). Then it was off to massage land with Dolly, who simply could not get the drift of my request for NO deep tissue. I felt tortured from the first touch, and my constant requests for a gentler touch went unheeded. Four days later, I am still bruised in several parts of my body. The facial was a one-size-fits-all version. I was not asked if I had any allergies, skin issues, etc, as one is typically asked at other spas. The wash cloths used to wipe each step away were coarse and ragged. Oh well, it was time for lunch and I was famished. My salad was delivered void of any of the protein toppings that were supposedly included. I asked about that and THREE different people came to tell me "Thats just what she thought you ordered!" Nothing like, can we get you something else? or lets see what we can do to make it right. Simply, "thats what YOU ordered!" How could that be when I never mentioned anything about leaving anything off of what I had ordered? Dolly (and perhaps others) definitely had a disconnect there too. The manicure and pedicure were okay, but the worn and faded towels were unprofessional, as was how the entire salon staff was dressed--in sloppy, FADED old blue jeans and shirts (nothing classy here). When my pedicure was finished, I was stranded for about 15 minutes while others bickered over who should be stuck with my shampoo and style. Two women finally appeared at the door and one asked, "What is it YOU WANT DONE???" When the manager called afterward to see if she could make things right, I told her I did not want to go back to salon for any services. She simply said "No one ELSE has EVER complained about our spa services." I see by these ratings, that is definitely untrue. Skip this place, go to a real spa, your body will love you for it.

This place really is a gem. I have a toddler, and decided to splurge for a friend and me to get a sitter and get our hair cut together. I picked it because of appointment availability, and saw that it got pretty good reviews. Even though it was hours after they had closed for the day, someone called me within an hour of my online appointment being scheduled to confirm (so fast!). We got to the salon and were treated with hot teas and a lovely atmosphere. I was called in for my appointment and I had the most wonderful, relaxing hair washing I think I have ever had. I didnt know just having your hair washed could be so therapeutic! The stylist I had (Dustin) clearly loves his job and takes his time. On top of that, I then got the best haircut Ive ever had, complete with styling tips. I felt like a model walking out- I wished I had a cute new outfit and lipstick! I went to try this place once, and now its going to be my home-base for haircutting. My friend also got a great haircut and was very pleased with the service. Amazingly, with such outstanding service, I was expecting to pay the standard $60ish, and was shocked that the haircut was only $35! I decided just to leave a generous tip, and I know Ill be coming back here. Cant recommend this place enough!

My wedding weekend (Oct. 2009) was the first time I had ever been to Tucson. I planned a destination wedding in Tucson (we live in SC) and our resort (Westin La Paloma) recommended this salon. I brought in pictures of hair and makeup 2 days before my wedding and did a trial run on both, which turned out fabulous! In all of the wedding pictures weve seen, my hair & makeup look wonderful. I learned from the girl that did my hair (Autumn) that this salon does a lot of wedding hair/makeup for models of wedding shows; so they have a lot of experience. Autumn did a wonderful job of taking the picture I gave her and styling her version of the style to work with my hair length/texture. Kylan did my makeup (which was airbrushed) and did an amazing job of choosing the best colors for my skin tone and eye color and doing my makeup just like the pictures I brought in. Not only did these ladies do a great job on my hair & make-up, but the other stylists and make-up artists did a wonderful job on the hair/make-up of my maid of honor, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. We all looked great for my big day! If I ever return to Tucson and need hair or makeup services, I will definitely return to Spirit Salon.

After having a TERRIBLE experience at another shop down the street, late on a Saturday I was stuck trying to find someone to do a color and cut to my hair. I called a lot of places but because it was closing time, most places could not take me. When I called Spirit, the situation was totally different. They told me that even though they were closing they would go ahead and take me. Mark did my hair and not only is he a wonderful conversationalist, personable, friendly and kind, he is an AMAZING stylist who has been ding hair since 1981. He did my hair even though everyone was gone and I was the last to leave. He totally made my day. Great salon and the same price for what you would pay at a lower quality place. One of the best in Tucson and Mark is awesome!

MONICA is amazing! If your looking for a new hair stylist, or want one that gets it right every time, she is your woman! She is MAGIC with colors. I have difficult hair and she has no problem getting the color and cut I want, every time. Monica was able to texture my hair and give me a cut that I can wear down even if I just let it air dry after a shower. Monica is super super sweet and easy to talk to. GO see her, you wont be disappointed. I was also pleasantly surprised by how nice the salon was. It is very nice inside and has a nice warm feeling to it. Clean, professional, well decorated and great product lines. Dont let the outside looks fool you.

I recently moved out of Tucson to the East Coast, and am still grieving the loss of Spirit Salon in my life. I lived there for 2 years and went to Danitza for various waxing needs every month or so, and she was AMAZING! Super cheerful, took her time, and always gave me great results. I absolutely adore her, and will be hard-pressed to find someone equally upbeat, professional, and talented. I should also say that the one time Danitza was not available for me, I went to the other girl (her name starts with a K, but I forget it), and she gave me equally great results. 5 stars for Spirits waxing technicians all around!

Ive been going to Danitza for 5+ years, since I was fortunate enough to discover her after moving to Tucson and cant imagine anyone else taking care of my wax & skin care needs. Understand, I dont go to the same nail, hair, or dentist more than twice and I dont buy the same brand of anything each month. Danitza is the only person/brand I have loyalty to because she cares about her clients and the results. And she does an amazing job each time. The kind of job where people say, "you have great brows!" Really, I just have a great Danitza! She is fun, thoughtful, and a major asset to Tucson and its unruly hair.
