On very few occasions have I been treated as rudely, disrespectfully, and unprofessionally as I was recently at Chenal Health & Fitness. I went to the gym yesterday as a guest of my girlfriend, as we had several times in the past using what had been a perk of her membership allowing me to work out with her. At the check-in desk I was informed that they had changed their policy and were no longer offering the guest pass privilege. As my girlfriend had not been informed of this change, I asked to speak with a manager regarding this, upon which Shane came to speak with me. Shane informed me that due to a legal matter, they had discontinued this privilege. I told him that I understood that, but was disappointed by that this had not been communicated to the members. To this he replied that a communication of this type would “stir up more dust that it’s worth”. I then asked how they would deal with members who were opposed to this change, to which he replied “we’ll just cancel their contract, they’re not worth it” at which point he directed the clerk (without even asking me) to cancel my membership. I told him I wasn’t even a member, but a guest of a member, and though she (my girlfriend) was not even present at that moment, he directed the clerk to cancer her membership. He paused, then said “you know what, before we go and cancel a membership based on this guy’s say-so, let’s check with the member”, which marked the first and only logical thing to come across from him during our discussion, although I had not at any point requested anyone’s membership be canceled. As of this writing, their website still lists the guest pass as a benefit, and ironically states “At Chenal Health & Fitness, we take pride in the service we provide for our members. Our number one concern is your satisfaction.” As you can see from other reviews, my case is not an isolated incident. Save yourself the hassle and take your business to where you are treated as a valued customer and are provided with upfront and truthful communication.

When I first joined, they did not have ID cards for you to sign in for about three months. Then, I never received a call I requested about a free fitness evaluation (been here since March 2014). And about a month ago they changed (shortened) their already brief weekend hours without notifying any of the members (no signage in gym or on social media or through email). My boyfriend is also a member and neither one of us were notified about this change. If you ever need to speak with someone at the front desk, it is either empty or the employee is absorbed in some other activity (phone, conversation with a trainer, etc.) to the point of not being able to acknowledge your presence for several minutes. However, the equipment is usually in good condition, clean, and available for use. Moot point to do a review for a dead business but needed to address some things I did not enjoy about the business (they sold to another family and are renaming the gym, and they never informed members but for the flyer in the front door - how professional).

I have to agree with other negative reviews. I joined based on recommendation of friend. Went in for assessment and girl at desk wouldnt look up from computer until I addressed her. Then PT scheduled to do assessment was not there ( he had had surgery according to desk girl). Ok things happen. Then big production to get someone to "do" me. Bigger to show me around even though Id said several times it was my first time to attend. Had to practically beg for my ID pic to be done. Out of patience by then. When I called to cancel next day, asked for manager to call to discuss - no call ever. Needed to go in to cancel. I worked in one of the largest fitness centers in the country providing marketing and customer service training for employees and KNOW what good CS looks like. Have to give this place a big fat F. Dont waste your time and money.

I totally disagree with the previous comments. I have been a member of the gym since last March and have loved it. It is so convenient for me. The gym has all the equipment and more and plenty of classes. I have a personal trainer , Lauren who gives me my moneys worth in strength training and is so knowledgeable & cheerful. They have sales for personal training sessions from time to time too. The last one was 10 for 250.00. The Cardio theatre , for watching a movie and working out is great or watch your favorite News channel in the regular treadmill area . As for the other services , I havent tried them yet . The juice bar looks good.

I Loved my experience with this Gym. They are building up from where they were before, and the staff is amazing, even the new management staff is Great. They so helpful in my enrollment process and answered any questions i had. I Love the Cardio Theatre, not any other gym I was looking at joining had one and thats a plus to help motivate me in my runs. They also have a Kids Club which is amazing on the days i have to bring my children, plus i got a complimentary massage when i joined! Cant get that type of service at 10 Fitness or The Little Rock Athletic Club. Overall I Love the gym and all that it offers.

This gym is the worst place in town for customer service. The personal trainer program could not be a bigger rip off. The management does not care at all if customers are taken care of. They will charge you ridiculous fees and not even provide a trainer. The turnover in staff is dizzying...different folks every week! My advice is to save yourself the trouble and find a reputable place to work out. There is nothing fitness related to their programs. Of course all businesses are there to make money but in my opinion these guys sole intent is to rip you off. Sorry I ever came in to this place.

I am forced to give one Star and that is too much for this place... Shane was allover us for taking the membership and once we had to move out he kept ducking all the calls. Hugely disappointed by the management because when I got in touch with Aida, supposedly Shanes boss. She again promised to get things sorted out but to no results. A bunch of ineffective twerps running the place. I am glad LA fitness is down the road and cannot wait for these scammers go out of business!! If you have are not already stuck here, stay away...

It was a worst experience in this place. It was a headache to get out of the Personal trainer. Never ever sign up for the Personal trainer program, they wont disclose all the details and you either end up sticking to the contract for one whole year paying $120 minimum or get charged with a cancellation fee of $250 if you quit within the one year. This is the worst corporate maintenance and I dont recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself a lot of money by choosing another gym.

SCAMMERS!!! stay away from this place. We paid for 2 years in advance and wanted to cancel our membership. It was told to us that while joining that we cancel our membership but never got any money back... The General Manager is liar and a cheat!! We called multiple times and never received a call back. The guys even told us that the check was mailed 6 months back. LIARS and CHEATERS... Stay away!!!
