The user experience is too bad in planet granite, compared to touchstone. The most important thing is they are totally not friendly! They only think about making money! You cannot teach others climbing and belaying here, while you can teach others in Touchstone. You cannot say they do this for safety because the belay test is simple and cannot cover all things. They only want to enforce new climbers paying for belay learning session! Touchstone is much better than them. You can teach others in the gym but the belay test is very hard. They require you to take tests more than one time to make sure you know all about belay. And require a lot of additional safety checks and actions. Moreover, different prices of passes and membership for different positions in PG! I want to remind you, please buy monthly membership in SF or Belmont instead of Sunnyvale! The membership is $120 higher in Sunnyvale than in other places! Also other passes! But the 10 visit pass only can be used in the gym you buy this pass! Overall, they only want to make money! My friend signed a waiver before they asked the name and said it didnt exist. Not friendly! And in SF, the pad for signing waiver cannot work. Never care about customers! Please do not come to here!

Bathroom are disgusting! Always smell and the showers have worms!!! The staff can be overbearing as well... Ive had them multiple times follow me into the locker room and (while Im pants less changing- The current manager is most guilty of this) bicker over payment of something already paid for like a locker rented for a year and a gym membership for a year. I regret both FYI!!! I had to literally dig up receipts errrr. The setting hardly reaches anything worth a strong climbers time. Everything is so corporate that they focus on v5/v4 when resetting. Barely one or two climbs that push past v11 its sad ugh. How will a climber growing in this environment be enthusiastic to push further if the gym sets such obvious boundaries? The gym should set for everyone... Not just the weekend warrior!

Very sadly, I must agree with the previous reviewer. I was once a very happy Planet Granite customer because the place had a nice relaxed feel, no TVs, very good yoga teachers (this is still true), AND good customer service. Lately the rates have gone up and we have gotten nothing better in the gym, in fact the maintenance is worse, the locker rooms are cleaned less frequently, there are no longer guest passes, and service from the front desk has taken a deep dive. So, it costs more and you get less. I still like the yoga and core instructors but its less and less appealing overall. The management is NOT responsive to customer feedback and it feels like they are just milking us with increased fees to fund opening new gyms elsewhere.

Love Planet Granite! I thought this was a kitchen counter store whenever I drove past until a friend of mine took me to the Sunnyvale location. I got so into climbing there that I got my own membership, especially since I live walking distance from the Belmont location. Membership includes access to all the gyms (Sunnyvale, Belmont, SF), all the yoga classes, and all the weights and fitness equipment. Sometimes there are a lot of kids that show up for parties and it can be extra challenging to boulder with kids climbing underneath you, but Ive found that going early in the morning is best for bouldering when its nearly empty. Overall great climbing gym.

This place is a joke, especially the staff! After spending almost an hour filling out paperwork (I found going through the immigration when I arrived to the US easier and friendlier) we were told that we couldnt lead because we failed the top rope test! Despite failing we could still top rope... so where is the logic?! Weve been climbing for 5 years in many countries and in many gyms around the world by the way... Parking is terrible (off street) and walls arent impressive! Worst gym Ive ever stepped in! 1 star because we got our money back.

True, PG Belmont is smaller and older-looking than its sister gyms in Sunnyvale and San Francisco (I call it the stepchild of PG). But its still a nice place to get your indoor-climbing sessions three times a week. For a change up, we supplement our weekly climbs with Sunnyvale PGs crack walls and taller routes, though. PG Belmont shares the parking spaces of Bel-Mateo shopping center. Its less than a block away so youre not crowding residential streets.

Kind of a smaller rock gym (though Im admittedly not an expert). I go with my roommate sometimes, and its pretty annoying that they dont have a trial pass or a discount for guests of members (a single day of climbing is $26 with equipment rental). But, this location is easier to get to and park at than the SF location, so thats a win in my book. This is a good place to climb, especially if you can avoid the kids parties.

Love this place with all my heart. Have been a member for a number of years, it has never let me down. Great place to learn how to climb. Climbing is great fun and exercise. There is also a full weights/machines gym upstairs, and complementary yoga classes with membership. Shower facilities are clean, the sauna is nice.

Plenty of climbs on some interesting "rock" formations, small workout area, and nice bathrooms. I prefer the Planet Granite in Sunnyvale because they have more routes and taller climbs, but Belmont is definitely less crowded at peak hours. Its still crowded, but I didnt have to wait to use a rope like in Sunnyvale.

Planet Granite is a really great rock climbing gym with extensive yoga classes, and every machine and weight you could want. Really friendly vibe, and friendly staff. Im docking it a point because the facilities feel dated and faded. But if thats not a factor for you, PGB is a terrific, albeit expensive, gym.

Good atmosphere, and frequently changing routes for climbing. The yoga studio isnt sound proofed at all, and you can hear noise from the main gym. Training devices look slightly aged. Restroom doesnt look as clean as it could be and is uncomfortably smelly. 5 stars for climbing, 3 stars for the entire gym.

Went for some bouldering. Ive been training my grip for the last couple months and it was still incredibly challenging. When my hands got tired, I headed up to the gym for some running and lifting. Everything was great. Two bouldering rooms with a variety of challenges. Chill people and good equipment.

these ppl are soooo inconsiderate I mean yall are going to a gym stop being lazy and walk from the parking where yall are supposed to park.. you dont know how annoying it is that I cant park in front of my home because you guys are to lazy... furthermore my driveway is NOT a turnaround

The gym is good, the climbing difficultly is on par with the Sunnyvale location and the number of climbing routes and bouldering problems are enough to keep me not bored. There is no parking lot so youll end up parking in the residential streets up the hill.

Its my home gym, what can I say? I love the free weights, yoga, and the sculpted walls. The ratings can be kind of soft until you get on a Mike A climb, and then you work for your supper. The staff are great and the early morning hours are hard to beat.

Love this place. Great variety of climbing and bouldering walls as well as workout machines, which are barely ever full. They change the climbs and boulders every couple months so nothing gets boring. Great location in the old Belmont Theater.
