*****REVISED as of 8/27/2015*****I have upgraded this from 1 star to 3 Stars...but I do give their management service 5 stars*****As I said, the manager from called me...and in addition, the VP from San Francisco called me(I called him, because at the time, I didnt hear from the mgr. from this club, had to go to a higher chain in command)...so they have resolved the Coffee situation...instead of having coffee ready at 7:00 am, and had moved it to 6:00 am. I am very very pleased. This helps a lot for us Early Birds...So thank you management for making this possible. ****REVISED****I had finally got a phone call back by the manager, she said that it takes awhile for the coffee machine to warm up, and see what she can do. So as of now...we will see. When I first heard that Bay Club is taking over Spectrum Club, I was so thrilled and so excited for this new and exciting change. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. The gym smells old, the machines are still the old ones and there are ones that need repairing sti;;...still not repaired at all. Sure, they add bouquet of flowers in the front...WOW...it is all just a facade. They even say gym members will even get FREE coffee in the mornings...but guess what? They only serve it from 7am to 10am. Because they do open at 430am (Which is the only 5 star here) and I leave here around 6:15am to get ready for work, they REFUSE to make coffee at 6am. HELLO!!!!...We early birds DO pay MEMBERSHIP FEES too...just as the 7am crowd do. That is just wrong. When I tried contacting the manager and have left messages...Guess what??? I dont get a call back whatsoever. OH..and the air conditioning at 430a is not turned on either. I sure hope I dont pass out!! They post all of these pictures up of the renovations being done to the other clubs, but nothing on this one. It is just sad. I feel like this is "Step Child" of the Bay Clubs...as someone told me at the gym. I am only going here still because I had paid upfront. Right now...they are all talk and no action.

Ive been a member of the Bay Club since it was the Spectrum. And also was a member when it was Racquetball World. Im so happy about the changes that are happening one by one. There are social activities on weekends if youre into that kind of thing, theres the new Cafe juice bar, new equipment being plugged in here and there, redone spa, and the reformer pilates classes are top notch. Ive been to Hard Core, Boulevard, and Pilates Plus and the reformer classes at the Bay Club are great and you cant beat the price ANYWHERE. My four star review is because Im so excited about those changes. Its feeling more and more like a club. The last star will be clicked when they have redone the showers. They have the same tile as when it was Racquetball World! But at least theyre constantly cleaned. And I dont have to pack towels in my gym bag like when I belonged to another gym. I have to say, its a very big club. When I read the reviews how unhappy people are that everything that needs upgrading wasnt done right as the Bay Club took over, I have to consider that those people may have never owned a business, and dont know all the behind the scenes things that have to take place first. Im looking forward to those changes as they happen.

Since Spectrum became Bay Club I have really become more dissatisfied. I gave the new manager a letter listing the problems with the facility in May. It included filthy air vents in the womens showers, plaster falling off the fake rocks in the jacuzzi, filthy vents in the pool area, scum on the hand bars to the jacuzzi, ceramic tiles missing and the list went on. The vents in the pool area have been given a cat;s lick cleaning. Prior to this month the pool vents had not been cleaned since last October and it is now August. I have never received a reply to my letter. The prices have gone up....perhaps it is to pay for the floral decorations that die after a few days.and the deep cleaning of the carpet meanwhile the women have to now bring their own deodorant and hairspray. There have been repeated overflows from the showers onto the carpet . The carpet was never lifted when this happened so there must be mildew underneath. Tonight the clock in the pool area was gone so how were we supposed to know when to get out of the pool? That was the last straw......When will we have to bring our own toilet paper?

My daughter and I started coming here to use the weights, treadmills, bikes, etc., but fell in love with the classes. The teachers are top notch, motivating and make the classes a lot of fun. IDK what happened in the past, but since we have been coming (Dec 2014) the locker room is nice, there are always more than enough towels, trainers abound in the weight room and are always ready to help, there are a variety of classes and the gym is mostly always picked up (weights put back in place, etc.). But sometimes, when its busy, the club members are lazy and dont put stuff away after they use them (they will leave weights/dumbbells scattered about), and I dont think the people that work at the gym should act as maids, constantly running around and picking up after inconsiderate people - but these types are at any gym. In spite of this, somehow the people that work here keep up and the gym is pretty well maintained. We started on a two week free trial and stayed on due to the variety of activities, jacuzzi, pool, steam room, weight rooms, Spin and Metfit classes and yoga classes all included with the price.

There are several local clubs that are much nicer at better value. I had been a member of this club for roughly 5 years. They started out ok, but have been going downhill for quite some time. Recently the quality of the gym had gotten so low that the decision to leave was easy. I walked in at the beginning of March and explained that I was going to quit, but that I was happy paying for all of march. The lady at the desk smirked, and explained that they would continue billing me until the end of May because of some fine print in the original contract I had supposedly agreed to. This fine print, by the way was originally explained to me to be boiler plate liability information by the eager sales guy. I argued with the club over the bogus charges until i lost energy. I would not recommend this club at all. Again, there are far too many better options in local fitness clubs to give this gym serious consideration.

I was happy with this gym, the price was a little high but my job relocated me up to SF for 8 months so I let me contract expire. I recently was able to move back to Woodland Hills and decided to give Spectrum another try; however, they wouldnt even let me try out the facilities to see if things had been kept up or improved, not even for a day...I was shocked and upset. Ive spent hundreds of dollars at this gym and there was no loyalty or professionalism. I talked with a manager and he couldnt care less and insisted I sign up or pay $25 for the day. What kind of customer service is this? Old management was way better, seems to be some turnover with staff/management and looks like a group of idiots are running this place now. Went to Club 360 instead. Look elsewhere before signing up to this place!
