This gym will not let you close your account. They will tell you that they are closing it and then will not. More than two months ago I had a conversation with the manager, Jeff, at the gym about my bank account being hacked and needing the close my accounts. He was polite and agreed to close them immediately. Two weeks later I began getting calls and letters from a third party looking to collect dues. I went back to the manager and he pleaded ignorance to the issue and promised to pursue the issue. He said hed follow up with me in two days with confirmation the accounts were closed and the issue resolved. Instead he did not follow up with me and I needed to follow up with him. When I did he insisted hed follow up with the issue again and get back to me. This back and fourth has been happening for weeks. He has given me one photo confirmation of one of the three closed accounts and is now trying to pass me to a different person who he promises will assist me. It is clearly not going to be what it takes to close the account. At this point, I have no ability to get the accounts closed. I have gone to the third party and they say there is nothing they can do. The general manager is even worse to deal with and in the meantime I am being charged hundreds of dollars in fees I cannot stop. I cannot allow this to effect my credit.

This is by far THE WORST customer service that I have ever encountered. It is bordering on CRIMINAL behavior. Before the change in ownership, I went in to cancel my membership within the 30 days of my next monthly charge per my contract. When I asked for a copy, the employee told me that their copier was down and that she would mail me a copy. A week and a half later when I didnt get a copy I called and asked who I can speak to, the employee said he didnt know but that I could leave a message for the billing person. Fast forward three weeks and they billed my credit card. I called again but the billing person was on vacation but I could talk to the GM....another message left. No reply. Fast forward 2 months...8 phone calls...3 trips to the gym in person....same response. "The person who can help you isnt here." "I dont know their schedule so I dont know when they will be in." Still no response. So, I got my bank, thank you CHASE, to put a stop payment on their auto withdraw and change my cc. But THEIR OFF SITE BILLING DEPARTMENT CALLS AND THREATENS ME. Athletic Club....you are a sad excuse for a gym. You need to go back to being a car dealership with a Bobs Big Boy attached and stop harassing people who are trying to do the right thing. SHAME ON YOU!

when I first started at this gym I was really impressed with the service the employees were very nice and helpful but then they took more then was suppose to out of my acct. when I brought it to jeff attention he said he would take care of it so before next payment he said everything was fine and come to see they did it again so again I talk to jeff and he did return 35 back to me and told me this would not happened again and was sorry on 3rd month they took 134 out of my acct when I ask jeff about it he again apologize to me and told me that 29 of it was a improvement fee which we were never informed of jeff knew we were on a tight budget our membership should have been 70 a month yet they were taking more so when I ask jeff what he was going to do about this he has not respond to me. please please do not get involved in this gym you will be paying more then what they quote you and will not return any money over what they took I never sign any paper work at this gym iam turning this matter over to my bank and lawyer I wish I would have read reviews before going here because iam not the only person jeff has done this to.

I came in to check the place out. I am from out of town and signed up for the 7day free pass. When I spoke to Dena she went from oh new customer and a big smile on her face to a despising attitude after I told her I am from out of town and wanted to use the free pass. I felt like I was talking to a shaddy car salesman she then went on to say you must be a local resident to use the free pass or pay 20.00 for the day because bla bla bla are facility is so amazing and everyone would use the free pass in other words. I felt like the website was misleading because it said first time users could use the membership. I could afford to sign up but I already have 2 gym memberships currently that are out of town. I might have considered signing up in the future because I may eventually relocate but after feeling a little bit like Julia Roberts in the movie Pretty Women when she goes to Rodeo drive to shop and the women came off rude I will take my business some where else.

I was a member for almost 3 years. I can honestly say this gym is terrible. Run down broken machines. A couple good classes but limited times. What finally made me leave was the poor customer service and inability to reach anyone to make changes to my account...after 3 weeks, 10 calls, and 2 emails someone called me. Not sure about you but I do not have that kind of time in my life to deal with a company that is that disorganized. It seems like they are in a constant state of change and management. You think its bad and then are hopeful for new management that comes in but it unfortunately just gets worse. Its not even about the money its about dealing with people who care, and they do not. I would not recommend becoming a member here.

Ive been a member since Nov. 2007. In this time it has went from Athletic Club to Powerhouse and back to Athletic Club. Im so glad Powerhouse is out of there. Not only were the members unhappy but the staff was miserable. Most faces I was used to seeing around there got pushed out & the new ones it seemed didnt stay over two weeks! Now that The Athletic Club is back, so are the familiar friendly faces and the equipment is much better- no problems with the bikes now! And the classes are amazing with variety & the skill of the trainers. I had some really bad experiences with Powerhouse trainers!

I was skeptical. Joined when I first moved out here in late 90s. When the new gyms came along went with the trend. Tried of the funky atmosphere. Thought I would get better service, newer equipment. Now im back. Its still funky, low key, quirky, but now my view has changed. Staff, members, all friendly and people r there for working out, exercise. Equipment maintained, clean. Only complaint is too small pool. They just had a renovation after a broken water heater flooded the main gym so the place is fresh and new. Its comfortable here, still quirky, but I like it.
