Second time around for service on my Hybrid Escape. I usually work on my own vehicles as I have done so for the past 35 years. Having problems with the electric power steering and run through my own trouble shooting process I cam to a point where I needed someone with a bit more experience. BAAR came up with the same diagnosis that I had. Based on the apparent mileage they tried to advise against proceeding any further. As there was no other recourse but to start replacing parts with known good parts in hopes of resolving the problem. This was something that I had already known and after discussing the options with the staff decided to proceed with the first part replacement. Long story short All is good with the steering, 800 and change vs a potential 2300+. My opinion is they appear knowledgeable, personable and service oriented. While looking out for the best interest of their customer. I will continue to use their services when I find I do not have the facilities at home or when I do not have the time to conduct my own repairs. Just like the old days going down to the old corner garage. Wait they are the garage on the corner. Knowing what my answer would be they kindly reminded me of some service that may be due soon knowing that I would be likely to do it myself instead of trying to up sell the repairs. great place to go two thumbs up.

Ive been a Bud Adams Auto Repair customer for many years. Right out of high school and high school auto shop, I did almost all my own auto repairs. Ive swapped in rebuilt engines, replaced clutches and done the whole range of general automotive work. That was back before the advent of computerized automotive systems. Along the way, as automotive systems grew more complicated and my high school auto shop skills less useful, Ive gradually handed off responsibility to "professionals." I use quotation marks because not all the shops Ive used over the years have been particularly professional. Eventually, I found Bud Adams and his wonderful shop. Professional is exactly the right word for the mechanics down at Bud Adams Auto Repair. I guess Ive become a grumpy old man, but over the years I have found it increasingly difficult to find tradesmen who know what they are doing and charge a reasonable fee. Bud Adams shop is an exception. Dont ask me where to find a good electrician or a competent lawnmower repair shop. But if you need a good general automotive repair shop, Bud Adams Auto Repair is the place. As long as they are still open and Im still driving, Ill never go anywhere else.

I have been using Bud Adams shop for several years for routine maintenance and have never been disappointed. In fact, I have found that the advice that I get from "Bud" has been so straight forward and honest that I treat him as my primary go-to advisor on any major automobile decisions. As an example, I own a 2004 Prius hybrid which recently displayed a warning that the main battery needed to be replaced. The Toyoda dealer gave us an estimate of about $4000. My wife and I were not sure that we wanted to sink that much more money into an almost 10 year old car. So we called Bud to ask his advise. Buds understanding of the auto market and ability to clearly explain the options, including the likeliness of getting another 100 thousand miles of use out of the car made our decision very easy. We had Bud do the main battery replacement and some additional work and have been delighted with the results. Whenever I have a major automobile decision to make, I will always go to Bud.

6 months after paying $300 to fix my wifes air conditioning for her Saturn, it didnt work. They wanted $1,200 to replace the compressor and recharge the system. I took it to SpeeDee and paid $65 to re-charge it and it has worked fine for the past year. Crooks. My mom had a front brake job done on her 4 year old Toyota mini van (about $400). 8 months later the brakes were squeaking. They offered to do another brake job if she paid another $300 for the labor (they would cover the pads). My dad took some time off work to do the brakes and found out they were just loose and were the original factory installed pads. Did I mention Crooks above? I will post these 2 stories on all review sites I can find for this business.

For the last several years, I have driven well over an hour to Bud Adams Auto Repair in Castro Valley for all my major services - I have had oil changes, new tires, smog check, and 30k-60k-90k maintenance services. Bill often says on his radio show every week that he will "tell it to you straight...." He does. I went a few weeks ago for a 90k Service and again they got it done in the time needed and were VERY Accommodating! They have saved me a good bit of money over the last few years.

I call around to a few places trying to find a repair shop that would deal with my Prius. I wanted a second opinion since my dealership wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to repair a few things. They did a thorough inspection of my car the next day and found that the repairs werent needed. They saved me around $800. Thank you so much. I will definitely come back here.

They were very helpful and very Knowledgeable but most important they were personable. Their customer service is Awesome and they go the extra mile, even fighting with Warranty Companies for you, and the thing is they feel as bad as you do about everything which tells me they take pride in their work and want to do everything right by you

Great job as usual on 105K service on my 2008 Subaru. Bill even pointed out that we could wait on the head gasket "oil leak" which is currently so small that you can barely find it. Dealer wanted to get right on it to the tune of $1200. Have used Bud Adams for years. They are honest and give you realistic appraisal of your options.

Staff is super friendly and very caring! Had a car incident and was overwhelmed. The staff at the shop honestly put me at ease. They were very understanding with everything that was going on. They were able to get my car running very quickly. And at a good price as well! Very appreciative!

They repaired my Explorer power steering last year and it developed a leak about 10 months later. They honored the warranty and replaced the rack and pinion gear at no charge. They have worked on fuel system problems with my Windstar van and I have had no issues with these repairs.
