I believe this may be my first ever negative review on Google. This place deserves it. I was looking for a gym to join for one month, one with a pool as I have chronic pain and swimming is the best exercise for me. I informed the sales rep that I would be leaving the country after a month, so I didnt want to be a member for any longer than that. I was led to believe that was no problem. Then, after being in the Netherlands for two months, I looked at my bank account to see membership charges from the gym. Suddenly the money I was going to use for food was gone. After hours spent phone calling and emailing, I was finally able to get the yearly fee and one month refunded. But they refused to refund all of my money. They still charged me a monthly membership fee for a month when I wasnt even in the country! Despite leading me to believe I wouldnt be paying it in the first place. And when I contacted corporate and told them I was overseas, and this was my food money for the rest of my time there, they didnt even have the decency to respond. What a terrible company! Im back in California now, and will make sure to never use CFF again.

I was never thrilled with the facility itself but I joined Cal Fit in Sept 2016 to work with Max a personal trainer my sister loved. In May 2017 I received disappointing notice that Max would no longer be working for the company...so I went in and spoke with Sales Manager Vince to let him know that I had no interest in working with any other trainers and NOT to continue to charge me for personal training sessions. Vince informed me he would take care of things and promised to follow up. HOWEVER not only did he not follow up or return my phone calls but allowed a CHARGE for another month to process when I was already owed a refund for unused training sessions. Needless to say I will no longer be a member and will be notifying my bank that California Fitness STEALS money from customers!

My experience has been good up to yesterday where the sales manager dropped the ball on notifying me about a recent addition to my membership, and my wife was dropped from my account. Corporate bears no culpability and makes the sales manager at fault for not notifying me of certain requirements not being satisfied before dropping my wife from my membership. Mind you she has been going everyday since 3/18 when she was added, given a card and checking in with no issues. So I contacted the assistant sales manager since the sales manager was out and she said she needed to call corporate. A tennis match is not cool when youre the ball. It says a lot about whats important versus who is important, especially when the club and corporate are local.

I LOVE the gym itself and it is exactly what my family needs. But, I really dislike how the person who signed us up, Bryan, the sales manager, he felt he needed to be sneaky in order to get us to sign up. He did give us a deal but mislead us with further promises and its a bit frustrating that I am feeling like we should drop since we have only so long to break the contract. If we had never been given specific information to make it more exciting to join, we likely would have joined anyhow at the rate we are getting-once it kicks in. You shouldnt need to beat around the bush and be 100% upfront about EVERYTHING to where there is no confusion. I appreciate you helping get us started but its not 100% what you told us in person.

I signed up @ Cal Fit with my family at 13, just as they were opening their Orangevale Gym… Sixteen years later (excluding a brief "24hr" affair in 03) and I remain a loyal, satisfied member at 29. Thank you California Family Fitness, for upholding admirable standards. As well as providing its members with a fully equipped, well staffed, clean & welcoming environment allowing EVERYONE to enjoy the Fitness lifestyle!

1star for steam room and thats the only reason why i signed up for this gym, and their steam room is always dirty and it stinks, seems like its never being cleaned. Members come in with dirty shoes on and everyone ends up breathing their sweaty dirty shoes, problem is that staff doesnt enforce rules of No Dirty Shoes Allowed. It be good if they would have a policy "no shoes allowed period"

Very rude staff. I was getting much better customer service when I had my fitness 19 and fitness 24 member ship. Save your time, and dont make the mistake I made.
