Before I start, I would like to say I have been a member of several different gyms (24 Hour Fitness, Planet Fitness, college facilities). So, this isnt my first rodeo. Ive seen what other gyms have to offer. Ive been a member of this Crunch Fitness for 3/4 months now. This place is $15/month which is a good price. But, you pay a $30 sign up fee and after 60 days you pay $39 "annual fee". This is all explained in the contract but seriously, who reads the contract? Personally, I expect the person signing me up to explain these things while Im signing up. I was not informed of the annual fee and noticed it on my bank statement. So, I went in and asked what the $39 fee was. They explained and I was not happy. Within the first 2 months you will be charged $30 sign up fee, $15 x 2 for the month fee and $39 for the annual fee. Thats about $100 divided by 2 months equalling $50/month to start off. As for the actual gym, its alright. Its missing some basic equipment and attachments that I have gotten used to using at other gyms. When I made a suggestion one time for a piece of equipment they said "oh, that type of machine is about $700". They didnt consider my suggestion very valid so I left it alone. Then I was thinking, $700? I looked around at all the machines they have in the facility and realized $700 isnt really that much money. Look at the prices of equipment for a gym (treadmills, weights, machines etc.) and you will notice they cost several thousands of dollars. If I were you, I would check out other local gyms before committing here. As stated earlier, $15 monthly is a good price. But, they get you up front with the sign up fee plus annual fee after 60 days. At this point in time I feel like I HAVE to stick with this gym to get my monies worth. If I could go back in time, I would have done more research on other gyms.

My family and I had high hopes of joining this gym as its less than a block from our home. With such a convenient location who wouldnt look forward to simplifying there daily routine and joining a new gym around the corner. However this morning when I went in to take advantage of the 1 week pass I received during there promotional period, I was shocked and amazed at the horrendous customer service and more over lack of esthetic professionalism I received from the owner himself. You see I travel a lot with my job and apparently because I would be here only every other month he literally insisted that I not join the gym because it wouldnt be "cost effective" for him. Telling me that his "insurance wouldnt cover someone that wasnt a full time resident" was not something I think anyone would want to hear from the owner of a new establishment. Going to a gym with insurance issues sounds a little sketchy to me dont you agree? Although the gym boasts rock bottom prices an a seemingly friendly staff this Is the complete opposite of my experience here today. The gym charges a base fee of 19.99 a month and 130$ to join, there is also a annual fee of 40$ charged on the second month of service. From the sub par equipment, the apparent "insurance issues", and the complete lack of customer service on THE OWNERS behalf, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND steering clear of this establishment.

Ive been trying to get this business to admit to their shady membership fees for months. Thankfully their website now includes the membership policies once again, and as I read through, I found what I had read before, and worse! This company charges a $25 administrative fee plus $175 for ... nothing? It doesnt say what the fee is for, just that they charge it arbitrarily if I want to cancel before one year. Its actually cheaper to let the membership continue to fulfillment than to pay $200 for absolutely no reason. Thanks for locking in your customers like a bunch of caged animals. Quote from their Membership Policy page: "Cancellation of Membership To cancel an EFT membership before the completion of the original term, the member must follow the procedure described in (1.102 below), plus pay an administrative fee of twenty-five dollars ($25), which may be adjusted from time to time, plus $175" Ive had 2 people at Crunch Fitness tell me that they never heard of it and theres absolutely no charge or fee to cancel a membership at any time (within the first year or otherwise). Yeah okay, please read your policies and stop lying to your potential customers. Not really a good way to get off on the right foot with a new business. Sorry I wasnt able to join, I had high hopes for this gym. Id stick with 24-hour, at least they truly charge nothing to cancel.

Went there on a Sunday to inquire about a short term pass, as my friends and I were home for spring break and wanted to stay active at a gym. Was told that people come in all the time looking for a gap week/month membership and that it would be no problem and we should just come in on a weekday when a manager would be there to override the ~$30 enrollment fee since we were just doing for week anyways. Came in the next day to a very stern owner who seemed to believed we were trying to pull the wool over his eyes rather than admit that many of his employees may be doing this or perhaps one employee was just lying. Either way, he was very unapologetic and did not even care to inquire as to who the employee was that was promising this. When I asked if there was a 1-day free pass just to check out the place, he sternly and immediately said no and that it would be $10/day. When I told him I may have seen something online that said there were free 1-day passes he said I was mistaken. I just got home and looked online. Free 1-day passes. Facilities looked nice, but owner was discourteous and hostile. Guess whos not getting my business when I come back in the summer...

The good: Clean, friendly staff on an average day, lots of machines. The bad: would prefer more squat racks, the trainers for the classes are not adequate. They were having a classes of novice people do unassisted dead lifts. I decided to leave the class as I know you can cause injury without proper form and the teacher was not assisting anyone. The ugly: hidden fees like crazy. They will charge you the initiation fee and then more fees a few months later. This is not a $9.95 a month membership. When asked why I was charged these fees they said it is standard. When I questioned to see it in writing it was not available. When I read their terms, I found nothing about this fee. Finally they said they would send me something in writing for the fee (days after they decided to charge it). To cancel their membership, you need to go in, in person and have a meeting with their manager before they will allow cancellation. Im not sure if that is standard, or due to my situation. I will pay a little more for 24 hour fitness and deal with a more reputable company.

The gym is kept very clean (constantly see staff walking around wiping down the equipment and vacuuming the floors). I appreciate the cleanliness. The equipment is great. The trainers and staff are very helpful and friendly. The GM could use a little more customer service training. He seems like a nice guy and can be friendly, but can also be oblivious when it come to customer service skills. For example , there was a line of people waiting to check-in as no one was at the front desk attending check-ins...He saw the line and ignored it as he was busy talking to a "buddy". He finally takes the time to go to the front desk and instead of acknowledging the people waiting and/or appologizing for the wait, he just tells everyone to walk-in. He could of just flagged everyone to walk-in from the start rather than making the people wait for him.
