Years Later and NOT Handled Properly.... I did a tear off and re-roof on the major percentage of my home. It is a 1921 Mediterranean with a mostly flat roof with ceramic tiles around the perimeter. I thought everything was fine until a couple of years ago when I had another roofer roof a small roof over my bedroom. He made some comments about the prior flat job, but I ignored them because I know how that goes. I’ve had a leak in my skylight for some years now, since re-roofing, and just havent confronted dealing with it....with J & J or anyone else. I asked a couple of licensed roofers to take a look at the detail around the skylight, and to price out a maintenance estimate for my roof. I was surprised that both companies pointed out serious issues in the workmanship, and choices of J & J roofing, who did the original work. One thing in particular; was that they spent time taking all the roofs off and didnt bother to open the scuppers on the inside to match the outlet, so there are smaller holes on the interior of the roof than the exterior. For anyone with a flat roof knows…you need the hole to be big enough so that it is less likely to clog. There were also decorative roof tiles that were just laying there unattached waiting to fall…plus some other items. I decided to give J & J roofing a call, since they appeared to be a “reputable” company, to explain the situation, and to hear their side. I was shocked at the utter unprofessionalism I ran into. I called their office, and told the person who answered what I was calling about. Immediately, Mike got on the phone with an attitude….not a helpful attitude….an ATTITUDE. At the end of our conversation, he told me he would have Matt call me back and take a look at my problem. Instead, Matt called me back with an even bigger ATTITUDE. I owned a general contracting business with my ex-husband for years, so I know what it is like to get a call from a client with a problem…or a perceived problem. This guy was defensive from minute one, and couldn’t stop telling me what I was saying. He told me that I had roofers come up to “inspect” his work. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as this was all communicated over the phone. I told him I called to let him know what was going on, and that I was going to end the conversation now and handle it myself, since I could see that he wasn’t even listening. He hung up on me. Professionalism is EVERYTHING!

We had a small leak problem around our hot water heater vent on the roof. During a rain storm a few months ago, it leaked quite a bit. We called J&J and John came over and climbed up on the roof. He told my fiance what was needed to do, as it was simple, and something I could handle. -No Charge Cut to a few months later, after its been dry, and we had that vicious storm the beginning of March, and our cabinet was wet again. Well, John came back over, climbed up on the roof with me in tow, and checked the vent again. There was a gap under the one part, and he thought thats where it leaked during this particular strong storm. Again he showed me what to buy and where to put the sealers. Again, No Charge. It looks like its solved, and it was a simple solution. Something I would say some people would charge a lot for. And for making two home calls and climbing on our roof, twice, John charged us 0.00$. And it appears to be fixed. Although now we dont have much more rain coming. But if it does, our cabinet will be dry. There arent many companies I trust like this anymore. I know if we ever had a serious problem, that John would come over, fix it right, and charge us a reasonable rate. Thanks!

I just had my roof redone by J & J and it was a brilliant job. Yes, I had to wait a while, but since the rains arent very big in the late spring/summer, I figured I could wait. And since theyd come so highly recommended I thought itd be worth it. I can see why theyre so busy. Ive dealt with a lot of contractors in my 16 years owning this house and these have been the only guys who came when they were supposed to, finished when they were supposed to, and the job was done well, professionally and there was no mess afterward. I even thought theyd covered a working vent (I was taking photos from my neighbors garage of the process) and one of their guys came back out and climbed into my attic (on a 100 degree day) getting ready to fix it but found that what was covered wasnt a working vent at all, it was a hole made by a previous contractor that did nothing. And then he told me that the vent I was concerned about went out the side of my house under the roof - and then showed it working when I put the bathroom fan on. Awesome service. Awesome job. Hopefully I wont need this again for a long time, but when I do Im calling them.

IVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH J & J ROOFING FOR MANY YEARS. THEY ARE UNIQUELY QUALIFIED AND CONSISTENTLY DO FABULOUS HASSLE-FREE WORK ON ALL TYPES OF ROOFING. THEY ARE EXPERTS IN THE FIELD AND YOU JUST CANT DO BETTER ANYWHERE. AS A GENERAL BUILDING CONTRACTOR SPECIALIZING IN OLD HOUSES, ARCHITECTURAL PRESERVATION AND HISTORIC RESTORATION I WOULDNT EVEN CONSIDER CALLING ANYONE ELSE. A FIVE STAR REVIEW ISNT AN ADEQUATE REVIEW FOR THESE GUYS. THEY DESERVE AT LEAST TEN STARS. JOHN DIELE - RENAISSANCE MAN RESTORATION PS - In response to a recent review . . . I am promoting the company from my association with them - and I am a valid source. I only hire the best. Its my name on the line, not theirs. All I know is that J&J Roofing is a reputable company that stands by its work. Whatever they do is guaranteed . . . if an additional charge was considered it probably was because the latest leak came from something other than what they did. Water finds the path of least resistance. So they didnt charge you when maybe they should have - and its fixed. In the grand scheme of things isnt that worth more than one star?

J and J turned out to be everything I had hoped for in a roofing company. After some previous bad experiences, the last thing in the world I wanted to do was get work done on my roof. John showed up and did the estimate. He was on time, friendly and honest. I was expecting the worst, but he came down from the roof with his recommendation and a very affordable price. My neighbor also asked John for an estimate while he was there. We had both had damage from heavy winds. She also liked Johns proposal and he wound up scheduling 2 jobs in one visit! The day of the repair, guys showed up on time and did a great job. After two rainstorms, neither my neighbor or I have had any problems. I would recommend J & J to anyone without hesitation.
