This is really the worst post office I have ever experienced. I have had to come here to pick up packages - which means sacrificing a good afternoon to standing in a line. There is one counter for pickup and the person there sometimes takes half an hour for one customer, as they cant find where they put peoples pickup mail. Its a complete mess back there in the mail room. I was just now trying to find out what time they open tomorrow morning, so I could be there first thing - hoping the line is shorter on a Saturday morning. But they dont even list their opening hours, nor their phone number. Oakland you should be truly ashamed of this post office! Zero stars for this one. Funny enough I cant publish this without giving at least 1 star.

Not sure why all the bad reviews, but I had as great an experience as one can picking up a package. The service was fast and friendly, and the building is gorgeous. My one complaint is actually for Google. I ended up going to three different locations labeled "US Post Office", before finding the actual one. The others were PO Boxes and little annexes/drop off locations. Please fix the names of these!

The pick up window is ridiculous. One clerk, lines always consisting of at least 8+ customers, waiting times easily taking over 25 minutes on average and a hiccup every dozen or so customers. Its quite unfortunate for the majority of Oaklands packages to be routed to this location. On the other hand the clerk has always been nice, helpful and more than willing to do their best to help.

Its a ghost town with the slowest, most unfriendly staff. You rarely see more than 2 people working in the entire building. You can end up waiting up to an hour for service, especially on weekends. I live 2 blocks away, but drive to a different post office so I dont have to deal with these people and the incredibly long lines. Such a waste of a beautiful building.

This place is as slow as molasses. The windows are always all closed except for one, and the people who come here are slow to ask for what they need. The customers dont come prepared with tracking numbers, ID, or various other materials, so it will add about 15 minutes to serve each customer. Avoid it, if you can!

Its the post office - it will never be a fun trip. Lines are always long, and yes the staff is slow, but you probably wouldnt move very fast either if it meant helping another customer with a bad attitude. It is what it is, cut these people some slack

Understaffed at the general pickup counter. Its possible to wait over an hour to pick up a package here, which is ridiculous because its been like this a long time and its consistently bad.

Its the USPS, so expect understaffing and lines. The hours are 8:30-5:00 M-F and 8:30-2:00 Saturday (closed on Sunday). Clean, grand-looking old building; convenient to BART.

THE office is nice and the staff are very nice and helpfull. The area is also located near lake merritt, a very beautiful neighborhood in Oakland. I really like that office.

US Post Office Civic Center Station on 13th St is good to visit for its architecture. The post office provides transport of letters and packages.
