Claims to have scanned and delivered my package, but the mailman never delivered it. Called their office to ask about the situation 1 and a half hour before they close, but no one picked up at all. I have called multiple times and called pretty much until they are definitely closed, and yet no one picked up. Called the next day right when they opened, a guy picked up and said he will look into the situation. Didnt get a call back from them until 3:30 pm. When they did call me back they stated that the mailman claimed to have left the package on my doorsteps. When I told the guy on the phone that USPS did deliver a package to my address (i live in an apartment type complex) on that day, but that wasnt the package on my tracking number, that was someone elses package. The guy on the phone put me on hold to go back and ask the mailman. Left me on hold for over 15 minutes, than a lady came by and told me that I am talking to the wrong department, I am holding up the line, and gave me the number for the supervisor and hanged up (despite I was trying to explain to her that I am waiting for one of the employees there to get back at me with an answer to my missing mail). So I immediately called the supervisor at 3:50 pm (keep in mind USPS closes at 5), and was talking to "A" supervisor about my problems... but only ended with a response "sorry you are not under my jurisdiction, they guy you need to talk to already left the office. Please call back tomorrow morning" Really? It only JUST turned 4 pm and the guy left? And I have to wait ANOTHER day? Seriously? If it isnt because the package contain valuable content I probably would have just let it go by now... but seriously? USPS you deserve to be downsized. You deserve to go out of business. All the unnecessary bureaucracy and incompetence and lack of motivation of your employees is unacceptable. I personally dont feel this way, but many people do state that the USPS is just filled with thieving bastards that prescan mails with valuables and steal the packages that they can get away with. Avoid this business at all cost, you are a lot better off with DHL, UPS, or FedEx.

I mailed a package from New York to Berkeley with tracking and signature confirmation. Tracking states that they attempted delivery to my customer and a notice was left. My customer never got the notice. I tried to set up a second delivery, the said that I couldnt because the package was on its way back to me, which it isnt because it was never scanned in. So I called and talked with Irene, the morning supervisor who told me that she would check with the carrier and call me back. I called back the next afternoon and she said that she hadnt talked with the carrier yet. SO I called back the next day, and spoke with Ray, the PM supervisor, who told me that they attempted delivery, and that the usual carrier gave that half of the route to a new guy on that day (convenient) and that he would have to do some looking but it was definitely at his facility, unless the new guy STOLE it, which rarely happens because they have cameras and "stuff". I gave him 3 days, until Friday, to find it and call me back. He called me back the next day and told me that he found it, compared the tracking number, and told me it was a different package that had been LOST for my customer, that the package had to be there somewhere unless it got put on the wrong truck for delivery but my customer and I are the only people who can sign for it so it would be showing up soon, and he would continue looking. I waited until the following Tuesday and called right at 9 when they open. Once I told Irene who it was, she put me on hold then put the carrier on the phone, who took all my information again, then put me on hold for a half hour . After waiting for an hour on the phone, total, I hung up and called back and was put on hold for another 30 minutes. Called back AGAIN, to be told I was 5th in line and my wait would be long. So I waited until 4PM to call back, they picked up the phone, and hung it up without even saying hello. That happened 3 times. This place is appalling. I have never in my life dealt with such an ignorant group of people.

9:15 AM. May 2nd. I was on line waiting to purchase a stamped envelope to mail my rent check. I was one of 3 people total at the post office, including the clerk. After about 5 minutes four other people came in and joined the line behind me. They each pulled a number from the ticket dispenser beside the clerk. The clerk finished helping the woman in front of me, then it was my turn. "Number 98!" "Good morning, Id like one stamped envelope please." "Are you number 98?" "I am not a number," I joked. "Where is your number?" I paused. "You saw I was waiting in line." "I cant help you without a number, so you can take one and get back in line." "For one stamped envelope? You really didnt see me standing here?" "You need a number to be served. Maybe youll remember that for next time." The guy behind me piped up. "He was here before any of the rest of us." The clerk frowned. "This time, Ill help you, but you cant just stand in line without a number. One stamped envelope?" As children, some people dream of being astronauts and then grow up to become actuaries. Others dream of being God and grow up to be postal clerks. Sure, the building is beautiful, but I need good service more than collonades and arches.

This rating could soon change to a 1. I registered for a post office box online, paid for my three months of rental, okay. Simple enough. I knew Id need to go to the location to pick up my keys after showing identification. Nowhere online did it say to check about the availability of a postal clerk to issue your keys. I drive 20 minutes out of my way, pay Berkeleys premium parking prices for an hour because I know what to expect - long lines, slow service, poor service - but I was happy that the desk was open on a Saturday. After standing in line for way too long, Im informed that the person who can issue keys only works Monday through Friday, 9-5. I plan on calling on Monday to figure out if theres a way to do all the verification with her through some other means to pick up my keys, but otherwise Im demanding a full refund. The point of a PO box to me has always been the extended accessibility to it outside of working hours. No way am I taking a day off of work just to do this! Ill take my business elsewhere, to a local store providing private mailboxes. Not worth the hassle!

This post office is terrible. I go there all the time (unfortunately its the closest to me) and it always takes forever. The people in there are rude, but not as rude as the other reviewers make them out to be. However, I lost a package that I sent to my friend, and I tracked the package and it said that it was sent back to this post office and thats the last place it was checked in. They told me they didnt have the package and when I asked what my options were at this point, they just informed me that I really dont have any. I responded, "So youre telling me Im just SOL because you lost my package?" And the woman just stared at me and said, "Your package isnt here; feel free to file a complaint." Thanks for the consolation, but Im still missing my package and my friend is missing her birthday gift. I would recommend making a journey to another post office if you can.
