My partner and I are expecting our first child in about 6 weeks. Were in the market for a more baby-friendly vehicle. We decided that vehicle was a Preowned Outback. We were approached by a very nice man named Damian who led us to the perfect car for us. It had just been traded in. Took it for a spin and decided we wanted to proceed and purchase the vehicle. When we returned from the test drive, another salesman was running towards us with another customer and asked Damian for the key so that his customer "can just see" the car. Within seconds, they were off on a test drive. I didnt think anything of it. We proceeded into the office to fill out applications and proceed with the purchase. After spending a half hour filling out apps and paperwork, another manager came into the room and nonchalantly announced that the car had just been sold to the people who arrived AFTER us and had taken the car for a test drive AFTER we had decided and had started the process to purchase the car. My partner and I were stunned and had no idea how to react or that this was even a possibility. There was a general lack of empathy from the manager regarding the situation. I asked to speak to the other salesman which came with an unusual amount of resistance. I finally got his name. JOSEPH is the unethical weasel of a car salesman, the kind that you hear the worst stories about, the kind who write their own disgraceful stories on how to steal sales from your fellow salesman. When I finally tracked him down, all I could get out of him was a smart ass smirk and a shrug. Nothing that ever even came close to an apology. Absolutely horrible outcome for what could have been a great experience. Unfortunately for our salesman, Damian, and everyone else at Downtown Subaru Oakland, we will never return here for business and will do everything in our power to assure none of our friends or family do either. Dr. Kahn, you have some serious personnel and ethics issues to manage. Good luck to you.

Let me start by saying that I love my new subaru outback. I could not be happier with the car. The initial process of trading in a vehicle and purchasing a new one was status quo. Haggle for a few hours and eventually come to an agreement. That was all to be expected. I felt valued as a customer through that initial process. After that. I probably am going to have to drive all the way over there to get a response from them. I financed the vehicle through the dealership and purchased GAP insurance. I then refinanced through my credit union and purchase GAP insurance through them. I called to cancel my GAP insurance and left two messages over a 4 days period and never got a call back. I then called and asked to speak to a manager who said I needed to come in to sign the paperwork. I went down there, signed the need paperwork and a check was supposed to be mailed to me. I explained that I was moving in about 3 weeks and asked if I should give my new mailing address. I was told that the check will arrive way before three weeks so it should be fine. 5 weeks later... no check, I have moved and forwarded my mail, called Subaru and left three messages and cant get a call back. I also started receiving mail from a tow yard stating that the vehicle that I traded in to them has been towed and they are going to sell the car. Icing on the cake is that I was told that I would receive a 1 year subscription to Sirius XM who are now calling me telling me my 3 month trial is ending. I told them that I have had the car for almost 4 months. I was then told that Subaru only submitted a 4 month trial. Wow.

Dealers are Dealers right? this place is no exception. I got the prepaid maintenance package (3 years) with my new Subaru, along with the Dent defense and most other plans they offer. Its been 2 years now. I ask them about Dent defense and they effectively ignore me (transfer me around to someone whos not there and i never get a call back). Which is fine, I have such tiny dents only I can see them. THE WORST: one maintenance appointment the tech forgot to close the top of my engine and I almost wrecked my car, as such: if I pressed the gas too much it would instantly stall. I called them about it and they fixed it that next day, which was good; they had to reset the computer in my car which was annoying, oh yea, and whatever damages unknown that I find out in the future because of this? Overall, its convenient for me because I live about a mile away from here but once my prepaid maintenance is over I might never step another foot here. THE BEST: you can pretty easily schedule an appointment within a week. They have a good shuttle service if you live close to them. 3 months in, there was a factory defect with my car and they fixed it "free of charge" but they made it sound like it was the only time they will do this and they are doing me a huge favor; I mean I only bought their most expensive Subaru for full retail price, excuse me. I would say skip the addons they push, unless youre leasing or dont care about your car at all, and want convenience. If its not a burden to check out another dealer, DO IT.

This dealer is worthless. I emailed a few times back and forth, after requesting a price via their website. I never received a quote, only a generic email that said "Your Subaru Forester Quote" and only listed MSRP, and when I pressed them to send me an actual quote, they stopped responding. Ha! I emailed them several times, and also emailed the "Internet Sales Director". They only seem interested when they think youll pay MSRP or when they think they can trick you into stepping onto their lot. Good luck to them, but the average rating on here and Yelp seem higher than they should be. Keep your expectations low.

I had a great experience buying my new Subaru here. Everyone was friendly and helpful and they worked with me to get the interest rate where I needed it to finance the vehicle. I have had my car for two weeks now and it has been perfect. They werent overbearing or pushy which I appreciated and they answered all my questions. I would recommend this dealership and a Subaru to anyone looking. The self adjusting cruise control is my new favorite feature after needing to drive back and forth from SF to LA a few times.

HORRIBLE and DISHONEST business practices. The staff doesnt communicate with one another and employs cutthroat practices to steal sales. One salesman was particularly smarmy and straight up lied to me, I believe his name is Joseph. All-in-all I had a terrible experience with this company. They ruined my week! Save yourself the headache and the heartache and take your business somewhere else where they respect their customers.

After purchasing our car, I have received no customer service from Aimel the general sales manger, or anyone at the dealership. They do not return calls, and , when you finally are able to speak with someone, say they will call back and never do. I am extremely disappointed with this type of response. It seems they are only interested in generating a sale, but not in keeping customers, and thus generating repeat business.
