Ive started using this gym out of necessity - I often meet my girlfriend here when she gets off of work, or Ill use it alone before I head into work nearby. Overall, I am fairly unhappy with it, and much prefer the Hollywood location, but its much closer to my work for 3 days of the week, so Im stuck! BATHROOMS: the changing area is relatively clean/new, which is a plus. However, the shower/toilet area is EXTREMELY humid, due to the open nature of the sauna/hot tub, which makes the whole bathroom feel very humid, floors are very slick, and it just doesnt feel clean. Ive also never seen anyone in there cleaning - makes me kind of nervous. CARDIO MACHINES: while older, they are mostly in working order, and do the trick. WEIGHT AREA: I spend most of my time here, and have found that during rush hour (lunch, and 4:30-7) it gets very crowded, often with people standing around. If youre trying to deadlift or do cleans/etc., be careful - they have a serious issue with people placing the weights as its a multi-floor facility. Im generally conscientious about this, but when youre doing a speed-training day, or a max 1RM day (lifting 3-500 lbs), its hard to put it down as gently as they like. Also, the barbells are pretty worn down, so even with chalk the grip is much weaker than if the bars were newer. All of that being said, if youre a serious lifter attempting to do a leg day - go to the Hollywood gym. Its 1 floor, so they dont care about placing the weights, and the bars are much newer (though they do have the hexagonal weights, so harder to deadlift with those). Also, there are no paper towels, so Im not sure how anyone wipes down their machines (apart from the people that bring in towels). Definitely needs to be CLEANED MORE OFTEN! STAFF: UNFRIENDLY. There is only 1 front desk girl that has ever responded with what seemed like genuine enthusiasm while greeting me. I dont need a hug when I walk in the gym by any means, but at least a smile and a "hi hows it going" would be nice - you dont get that from most of the people working up front. The trainers also generally walk around with an attitude that theyre too good for everyone else. I usually mind my own business and dont talk to many people while I workout unless Im "working in" with someone on a machine/bench, but Im always friendly and try to nod/say hello to the people I see every day - again, the trainers (like the front desk staff) dont return the hellos.

DONT SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I moved to Pasadena, CA with my job in 11/2009. I joined LA Fitness and talked with Boneventure about training. I was hesitant on signing a 12 month contract, as I knew my job assignment would be shorter than that. He told me he would take care of everything if I moved and he would cancel the training. I was hesitant, but on several different occasions he told me he would cancel my training. I agreed to sign the contract and start training. He promised an individual trainer to assist me until I reached my goal weight for my October 2010 wedding. In the time of 7 months, I had trained with 5 different trainers. 3 quit and 1 moved jobs. I was very discouraged with the training I received. The last trainer I was with stopped scheduling me and I didnt receive any training in most of August 2010 and none of September 2010. When it came time that my employer transferred me back to Virginia, I talked with Boneventure and he said he would take care of it. He entered my employers zip code as a reference of my move (I didnt have an address yet). He said it was fine and my account was frozen. However, I found out today that he had lied and I didnt qualify with my employers zip code for a move. He had been lying to me the whole time. I was charged again for LA Fitness personal training November 2010 for $234. Although I shouldnt have to pay for previous months of training, (I didnt receive any), I only want this month back.

Pasadena Muscle Company Gym Review: Yes, this gym is just okay. Like most gyms, it has just about everything you need to build muscle and/or lose weight. The downstairs treadmills, bicycles, and elliptical machines are set up around the perimeter of the main floor, giving you a nice view of the crowd and Lake Avenue if you care to turn your head slightly towards the east. Not much equipment for a serious weight lifter. Only one squat rack. Only one set of cables downstairs. Many useful pieces of equipment are upstairs. When youre pumped and in the middle of an intense workout, it is a bit of a pain in the ass to have to walk across the gym, go upstairs, and continue working out. When you see the interior of this gym, you will know what I mean. Beware of the mens locker room: theft occurs very often, as does multiple sightings of naked old men strutting their stuff relentlessly. I try to stay out of there if I can avoid it. If youre looking for a trainer. request Luis Martinez. He is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly.

Well, my wife and I recently moved to Glendale and decided the Pasadena club would be closest and in Pasadena, what could be bad about that. Turned out a lot. Over crowded, the machines are extremely out dated, even a good amount of treadmills were out of order. Not to mention it is stuffy in there and they do not even have music playing for you to listen to. I took my wife there just yesterday for the first time and she too was uncomfortable with the amount of guys looking at other women and/or men making fun of how they worked out. I too noticed this behavior from them. If I am going to a gym, I am trying to better myself to begin with, I can do without the smirking and meat market atmosphere. We do not recommend this club to others, not to mention the club is not up-kept too well and it is quite run down. We expected more from LA Fitness considering the other clubs we have visited in the past. Hopefully they will take note of this and better the club in the future.

I started going to this gym recently because its very close to where I work. The gym is ok, some of the bikes are broken but otherwise, its ok. My problem is with the training staff, mainly the head trainer (I dont remember his name, but hes the guy with the office). LA Fitness includes a free training session with every membership and mine was with him. He started out nice but within the hour session he told me that I was: weak, babying my knee (which I told him I torn back in high school), and never going to lose weight without his help. When I told him I wasnt going to purchase a training plan because its insanely expensive and Im saving to buy a house, he said that there was no point in buying a house if I was overweight and that it was bullshit that I couldnt afford both, because "poor people dont come to this gym". Basically he is an arrogant prick and if there was a 24 Hour Fitness nearby Id leave this gym in a heartbeat.
