The reviewers who rave about this gym must either work there, have a friend/relative who works there or they were dropped on their heads at some point in life. This gym isnt the worst but, when I compare the number of people using the gym to the quality of the gym equipment, this gym is a disappointment. There seem to be A LOT of people who pay for memberships so, the owner/company/franchisee should be able to afford a few more bars, weights and mats for the classes. It never fails that some people in Body Pump cant find a bar or the weights they need....trying to get to the equipment alone is madness. Its like hyenas running to a carcass. The mats we use for stretching, abs and other exercises are in horrible condition. Donate those things to the homeless because thats the only use for them at this point. Also, the locker rooms are gross. Ive actually had to wait in line to use the restroom because at least one toilet wasnt fit to be used. The area where the lockers are gets a little congested and theres zero privacy, the changing area is right inside the door. Side note ladies: who sprays a gallon of body spray prior to working out? Trust me, the person next to you does not appreciate inhaling (and probably exhaling) Eau de PacificBeachBabe. Maybe Im spoiled...hah. I paid the same monthly fees at Golds Gym in D.C. and the equipment/mats/restrooms were all 20x better than 24 hour. Overall, my rating is "meh".

BEWARE first timers! Do not give in to their tactical obligatory sign ups! Do not hesitate to affirm your personal decisions when purchasing a membership as staff here tend to be hungry sharks, though portraying as to only care about your physical goals and success, they smell new money when anyone new walks in. During my three visits, there seemed to be one particular arrogant male staff/employee with whom I never had contact, however, judged me on stereotype and physical appearance. It was particularly disappointing that I felt obligated to sign up and also purchase a personal trainer session program. Of which I repeatedly stated throughout my first and second visit, to two employees, that I could not afford at the moment. My decision was simply ignored and later found myself complying to the employees decision. I submitted to purchase a 10 session PT service... Only after upon canceling to find out I had been put into a 20 session PT service coming to a total of $759.99 (A number that was NEVER mentioned at all, nonetheless had I ever agreed to the 20 session service but 10) 24 Hour Fitness gym membership of $29.99 per month is no conflict, for which I have given this a 2 Star rating. Unfortunately, this has given my first ever gym experience a bad name. I hope other gyms are not as euphoric about my money.

My husband and I went in for the free 7 day trial pass advertised online. We had just moved into the San Diego area in our RV and we needed a reliable place to shower while waiting for our old landlord to return our security deposit so we could buy a membership. The guy did not sign us up for the 7 day trial pass like we had wanted, but instead started our membership that day. He had asked for my card and I was under the impression that he was going to set up the charge for our membership to go through after the 7 days. He ended up charging our card right away and it was the only money we had. We ended up not being able to pay for food and had to resort to visiting the local food pantries. We went in and completely canceled our membership and did not sign up for a 7 day trial pass since the guy was completely rude about the whole thing. He said that he had explained things by the book. Obviously he hadnt seeing as there was a huge misunderstanding. To the people at 24hour fitness you are a sale not a person and I would recommend that if you want a gym membership where the employees actually care about your health and safety to try somewhere else. 24hour fitness is not for you.

I read the reviews and decided to check it out and decide for myself. I walked in and was greeted by a smiling young man. I forgot my card, so I just entered my phone number and scanned my finger to sign in. That was great. Then as I looked for the mens locker room, another staffer approached me and asked me if I wanted a brief tour. He very kindly familiarized me with the gym. There are two levels with every kind of equipment you want, and lots of it. I used some new equipment that I had never seen before like the amazing Precor 100i. You have to try this one. There are showers and lockers, but no hot tub, no steam room and no sauna. The locker room is large and spacious. The people who work out here are seriously into fitness, and its easy to get serious here. If you are there to work out (and not just there for a free shower), then you will love this gym.

One of, if not the best, non super sport locations in so cal. Gets crowded, but doesnt seem to be overwhelming like some locations can be. Equipment isnt "new" but isnt falling apart. All of it works and is reasonably clean considering how many people come thru this place on the daily. Can always find some equipment open to complete your workout, with some flexibility. Plenty of options for mixing your routine up. Plenty of cardio. I always forget they have the upstairs cardio equipment..think most others do as well, its always empty.

Ive worked out at several 24 Hours around the county, and this one has the best layout and quantity of equipment that Ive seen. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 is the locker rooms. I cant believe one of the reviewers thought the locker room was "large and spacious"....Miramars is large and spacious...this one reminds me of the JV locker room at Point Loma High. Smells the same too, since the fan is always breaking and it takes forever to get it fixed.

I work out here a few times a week at their busiest time. The staff is always very friendly, and their trainers will help you out if you have questions even if you havent purchased any training sessions. It is warm in there but I cant complain because it just makes me sweat more... Not to mention everyone that is there seems like they are there to work out which is very motivating. I recommend Chris Daly if you are looking for a trainer... HE ROCKS!!!

False advertising. I wanted to try the place out for a couple days and they insisted on charging my credit card and getting a refund if I didnt like their facility (my DL wasnt in their zip code for the free trial days). The facility had huge wasted spaces and the equipment was not very well maintained. The biggest disappointment was the locker rooms. Better bring your own lock and dont mind the super moldy showers and dirty floors. D+ at best overall

Good vibes. Great location. And very nice staff. Definitely could use the renovation. The room with the yoga/workout matts is very nice , my favorite room because I love bringing my own matt and being able to do workouts for a hour or so. Most gyms k went to do not have a room like that. After the renovation and if they put new machines in the gym it would be so much better. My favorite gym so far though and Ive been to a lot.
