Ive been in the shop twice this week after receiving my car back from my little brother after two and a half years. I drove it from Phoenix to San Diego with no problems. it was due for an oil change so I got that done and the squeaky brakes checked at university city service center. They had good reviews on yelp so I went there since I just moved here and didnt know of any places to go yet. They said I needed to have my front rotors resurfaced and new break pads on the back. I went to convoy for a second opinion. They did a free brake check! UCSC charged me $10. Convoy gave a more thorough diagnosis and offered a better solution for the front brakes. Pam was so nice and upfront about everything. Convoy is very professional. Pam didnt make me feel pressured to get my brake work done right then. It needed $1200 in work so I left to go think about what I would do. After a few hours I decided to go ahead with half the work and she scheduled me in right away. The next day I got brand new tires on the car. On my way home the car started making a clicking sound. I got an alignment the next morning at suspension plus. They said the clicking was coming from a bad bearing in the front right wheel. I called convoy for a quote and the price was similar for replacing the bearing. I took it to convoy for a diagnosis and a maintenance inspection to look for any additional problems. Convoy discovered the problem. It was a brake drum that was out of round that was only noticed when new tires were installed. Convoy corrected their mistake free of charge. The list of recommendations for my old car was long but Joe never made me feel pressured to do them right then our even at his shop. He was very pleasant to deal with and helpful - even when I called back later that day to double check a recommendation. The prices here are a tiny bit inflated but I can tell that stems from the level of care and quality of work that are put in. The mechanics take advantage of so many continuing education opportunities. I waited in the office during both repairs because Im currently not working yet. Every customer that came in and every phone call that was answered over my five hours there were addressed professionally and taken care of courteously. Id highly recommend convoy and trust them again with my car. Make sure to look for deals on AngiesList! I got $50 off with a 10% coupon

I brought in my BMW Z4 after I hit a monster pothole. My engine was making a horrible noise, so I brought it down to Convoy Auto Repair because they are open on Saturdays. I let them know my concerns about the engine noise and paid them $90 bucks to take a look for me. A couple hours later I get a call that they didnt hear anything wrong with the engine. The service manager and the tech both took it for a spin and there was nothing wrong. He then quoted me over $3000 for parts that were worn out on my suspension. I didnt feel right about his diagnosis because I knew something was wrong with the engine. I asked him to check again. After all, I brought it in because of the horrible noise. He came back and said everything was fine except for the suspension. I decided to take it down the street to have a second opinion. Sure enough, as soon as it went up on the lift, two of the bolts mounting the engine were sheared off. Two bolts that cost $10 and about 15 minutes to repair. The noise was gone. On top of that, the shop I took it to was able to do the same work on the suspension for 2/3 of the price. Convoy Auto was going to charge me $200 for one alignment....Firestone gives a lifetime alignment service for $140. This shop put my car in danger and didnt listen to me when I told them something was wrong. They didnt mind taking $90 from me and not doing the job I asked them to do. It seems like they saw the BMW and saw $$$ rather than fixing what I actually brought it in for. The waiting room was nice, the front desk folks were polite, and I know that the stuff they quoted me on was legit, but it was wayyy too expensive for what places right near by are charging and they missed a pretty obvious and serious problem that could have cost me my entire engine. Not pleased. Glad I went with my gut.

It started with a phone call about smog. They walked me through what I needed to do and set me up with an appointment for the very next day at a competitive "out the door" rate, no extra certificate fees, or any of that nonsense. Then on the way there, the front wheel fell off the vehicle on the freeway. I called to cancel the smog test but I saw "tow service and remembered theyre a full service garage. So when I called, I told them what happened. They had a tow truck on scene to my husband in under 10 minutes. The tow truck driver located the tire and loaded the vehicle with no drama, and brought it to the garage. The initial once over suggested they may be able to have it fixed by 3pm, on a holiday weekend, but in case they couldnt they would provide us with a rental car agency. So they gave us a courtesy shuttle home from the garage. After a more critical inspection, the damage was more extensive than could be handled safely with simple repairs. Replacements were suggested for several parts, and the reasons were explained in common language I could understand. The quote was reasonable and covered only what I was asking for, not other issues I knew already existed - but were not affecting safety or basic performance. They then sent the courtesy shuttle back to pick us up at home and took us to the rental car agency. The rental car agency we used AVIS, was just as friendly and easy to work with. Car repairs are about so much more than the bottom line. They made this near catastrophe into a bump in the road, with pleasant smiles, superior customer service, and trustworthy business practices. Highly Recommended.

I will not ever go back to these guys and I will not recommend this place to anybody. I gave them a try because the were AAA approved. Well, let me tell you this, I am currently in the middle of filing a complaint with AAA informing them of my dissatisfaction with Convoy Auto. This place is overpriced and misleading. First Compaint: They offer a smog check ad for $39.99 pass or free retest. What they dont tell you is you MUST have them do a diagnostic check on your vehicle for $69.99 to get the free retest. The dealer told me what I needed, I fixed it myself, when I went down for my free retest they told me I could not have it done because they did not do the diagnosis. Second complaint: I had them look at a door problem I was having, they told me it would cost $76.00 dollars to check it out with that amount going towards the repair. Afterwards they told me it needed to have all kinds parts to fix it costing almost $300.00. I went to the dealer, the mechanic came out took one look at it and said "All it needed was a door latch for $45.00 and 1.5 hrs labor. When I went back to tell Convoy what the dealer quoted and ask them to just replace the door latch, they said the $76.00 could not go towards the repair because I didnt have the work done on the same day, even thou it was misdiagnosed by Convoy.
