Move is off to a great start thanks to the San Francisco side of NorthStar Moving Company. Customer service was friendly and patient and returned calls and emails. Moving day, Nelson and his team arrived promptly and preceded to carefully blanket and plastic wrap furniture while others loaded boxes. 40 minutes later, I was doing a last walk through to make sure nothing was forgotten. All went well on the Southern California end. Even though I was their last delivery of a long day, George and his team quickly moved in my things and remained courteous and professional. Even humorous. They followed the box labels and placed them in the corresponding rooms. They asked me where to place the items that were not boxed and successfully maneuvered large furniture through my small hallway. Everything that was disassembled in the Bay Area was put back together. Would request my Southern California team if I did another move. Tips: Helps to have your boxes labelled and an inventory list made before the movers arrive. It all happens so quickly on both ends, you want something familiar to work with to ensure all your things made it from one end to the other (The NorthStar list is minimal...small box 1, small box 2). Make sure you get all your paperwork on the front end. In the chaos, I failed to check to make sure I had received all sheets of the inventory generated by NorthStar. I had to rescue a drawer screw that had fallen onto the floor when they wrapped up the Ikea closet on the Bay Area side. Save all the screws and nails you find. You might need them on the other end. The Ikea closet drawers did not fare well in the move but that was more due to the nature of Ikea furniture. If you are paying by the pound, you may want to reconsider having them moved with you.

I originally thought the move went well, other than one minor accident when an electrical faceplate was broken by one of the movers hurling an office chair into it. However, after I surveyed everything and started unpacking I noticed the movers had leaned a floor fan they had broken against a coffee table, obviously to hide that it couldnt stand on its own due to it being crushed during transit. A few boxes were also damaged (thankfully nothing inside was broken due to careful packing by myself and a friend) and a shelf pin that was just thrown into a box went missing. Overall, I think these movers were average at best and could have been more careful and efficient. Plus, the whole "asking for a *good* review to get a discount" is a sleazy tactic by this company. In the future, Id rather pay full price for excellent movers who wont break (and try and hide it) or lose my possessions.

Northstar contracts with shipping companies. Northstars customer service was fantastic and the fellows who picked up my belongings were excellent. However, the shippers broke two shelves, two benches, two boxes of extremely well packed dishes and lost a bag camping chair. Furthermore, they tried to cover-up the damage by immaturely and very unprofessionally gluing the broken legs back onto the benches- in a way obviously intended to deceive me during move in rather than to repair. When I contacted Northstar, they were very difficult to get ahold of. We played phone tag for three iterations before they just stopped calling. I cant recommend Northstar simply because they cannot ensure the quality of their contractors shipping.

We had Northstar moving provide packing as well as moving services for us in San Francisco. They showed up promptly, communicated their arrival time and showed up uniformed, clean and very polite. They killed it on the packing and moving! They finished the move under what they quoted which was a great savings for us! Nelson and his team packed all of our valuables very securely and took the time to cover and wrap our furniture since it would be stored for a few months. The guys really worked hard which ultimately saved us on our move. They even informed us about an online coupon through Yelp to save an additional $120!! We absolutely be working with Northstar for our next move A+++

This was my first time using a moving company and was kind of unsure about what to expect. Haitham, Juliue, and Marvin were awesome. 1) Showed up on time 2) Very respectful 3) Asked what did I want to be moved first. 4) Immediately started working and never took a break. 5) Moved everything so fast 6) Communication with me during the whole process. 7) Asked if there was anything else I needed 8) I left to my new apartment first and they arrived right after me. 9) Unloaded everything quickly and also placed items where I wanted them. No damages to any of my furniture. 10) Overall, excellent service and I will be definitely be referring people and calling North Star again when I move.

Edgar, Corey, and Jose arrived on time, worked quickly, were very thorough, and were super careful with my belongings. I had a piano to be moved (in addition to other items) which was my main concern, but they wrapped it, brought it in the elevator, navigated a few stairs, and it came out the other side fully unscathed. They also did a great job dissembling a few items and then reassembling them. There was a tight staircase to navigate and there was no wall or door damage. We had three pickup locations, which was fairly complicated, yet that was completely fine. They took less than 4 hours and were also the most affordable service we researched. Highly recommended!

Misael, Carlos and Isael were unbelievable. The first thing I said when they showed up was, "you guys are kind of small...these items are heavy!" Then I was embarrassed because I watched them move a 250+ pound dresser as if it was a mattress. And thats a GREAT thing -- a profound thing to behold. This move would have taken my wife and me two days. These three gentlemen got it done in less than 2.5 HOURS. They did it with care and didnt complain about anything -- Id recommend them wholeheartedly. Never had a better moving experience and Ive moved many times, across the country and in several cities. Its that time of year again! There is a reason that I continue to call Northstar for my local and cross-Cali moves. Returning back to So Cal for a while. I was provided with assistance from Beatriz, who I remember helping me with my first Northstar move years ago. Kevin was the foreman, and led a quick, efficient team! Edgar especially has a good eye for detail (apparently, my packing skills arent as good as I secretly bragged about). Looking forward to meeting the movers on the other end next week! Guess who Im planning to call again in the future? Yup! You guessed it!

We had our one bedroom move done with Northstar and it went really smooth. The moving guys were on time and they were really efficient with putting the boxes in the truck. Ours was a move from the south bay to the city, and again, the guys were on time covering up a relatively long drive really fast. The moving into the new apartment was also really efficient. We didnt have anything damaged and the guys even helped put our bed together. Overall, it was a really pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend Northstar for a hassle free move.
