Let me start this review off with that this is in no way shape or form me trying to come off as disrespectful, but to be taken as a honest and blunt review of my experience here. This isnt a reflection of the educators here but my outlook on the ownership of this establishment. Ive just finished my education here at The Salon Professional Academy and my experience here wasnt as glammed up as they make it seem when you tour the school. When you come in to tour the school, everything seems very put together and in place. The vibes are fantastic... unfortunately thats just not the case. The educators here are absolutely fantastic and make learning as relatable and down to earth as they can while still being able to come down to your level of understanding to push you to succeed and exceed any personal goals you have. Making it knowledgeable in terms of how you learn and understand. Ms Natalie is the heart and sole of this school and holds a lot of the chaos you dont see very much together in a calm manor. One of the top educators in my personal opinion. Number one negative outlook I have towards the school is communication. There is such a lack of between the staff and school that it becomes hard to continuously try to enforce new rules being put into effect every other month. The Salon making money trumps priority. The feeling of "family oriented" doesnt come to mind though it is pushed. Respect, granted everyone should get, is very one sided. Personally as adult paying for my education, I feel there was a definite lack of respect towards the students and educators. Every month the school has pow wows that end up being a bit of a bicker fest to see who has the bigger ego and I dont feel that its very professional, especially in front of the students. All in all, this school is pretty top notch but at the end of the day I wouldnt be able to tell you whos in charge. Shoutout to the amazing educators who make this school go round and keep everyone sane in the midst of all the chaos. Mr Miguel, Ms Natalie, Diana, Jenny, Coco, Suzie, Lacee, Shannon.. you all deserve so much love and are appreciated immensely. Shelle H

Honestly wouldnt even give a star if that was an option! I recently moved to SJ and was in need of a new stylist. My sister has gone to TSPA for years and said I should check it out. I went in to have my honey ombré an inch higher than it was currently and asked for a brighter highlight on the tips. I not only told the student working on my hair, but also the instructor who was in charge. After 2 hours of my hair sitting in bleach, I had to ask the student why I wasnt being washed out yet. She said she was letting my hair soak in the bleach. The instructors kept coming over to her saying my hair was taking good and that the blend was going perfectly, so I was reassured. Finally I was transfer to the bowl to be washed out. I sat in the bowl for an hour where I could feel something wasnt right. The instructors kept pointing at me as if something was wrong. After finally being blow dried, I was able to see the full effect. I was pissed! Not at all what I asked for and my hair felt like gum. I was told by both the student and Mrs. V I needed a mask in order to save my hair from falling out. I left thinking surely theres something I can do to make it work. After I got home and showered again, I realized the full effect. I called effortlessly for the next week to get a refund only to be pushed aside. When they finally agreed to give me a full refund, I went in to get the refund and was told only half of what I paid would be refunded since I didnt bring the product back (mind you, I had to buy the product on their account because if not my hair would fall out.) I showed Mrs V my pictures of my hair and she said thats not at all what the student did and denied everything. Im leaving this review to save anyone else looking to get their hair dyed there! I ended up paying an additional 270.00 at another salon for a color correction, and spent a total of 9 hrs in a salon that weekend (4 of which were at TSPA). Never again will I be back. Since I believe pictures speak louder than words, the picture attached is to show my honey ombré hair I had before, and the botched bleached job that TSPA did to my hair..

Had my haircut and facial treatment done here. I ended up buying the package for facial treatment (buy 4 and get the 5th for free). They have two types of treatments - one is standard (cleaning and hydrating your skin) and another one involves customization according to your skins condition, I did peeling with that package. You also have flexibility to upgrade to the customization if you only have the standard package. The "student" will ask how your skin feel at the beginning and throughout the process to make sure your skin wont get burnt. And the instructor is in the room most of the time. I learned two things from them. Change your pillow case every 3 days and use scrub to clean your face 3 times a week as per my condition. I wouldnt have fix my skin problem without these advises! I got the scrub at the store and instructor/ student there are not hard selling. They also have a good return policy, you can return if things dont work out. But I am keeping my scrub as it works for me. I feel safe and you cant beat the price. Your skin will feel so soft afterwards.

If you are looking for a salon which is cheaper in price, well you have come to the right place but mind you, the services are even cheaper. I tried facial, hair color, blowout & manicure. Of that, only facial was the one I can say was mediocre. The hair color service was horrible. The person doing it was 2 months away from graduating from there and I really pity the place that will hire her. My greys were not covered and she tried reapplying color to those specific gray areas and then removing it with a washcloth. The manicure (why is it even on the service menu!!!) They DO NOT have the TOOLS to give you a manicure. She practically just filed my nails and put nailpaint and that too so HORRIBLY. To correct my haircolor & redo my manicure, I actually ended up paying way more than if I would have gone to a good parlor in the first place.

TSPA has been an amazing experience for me. I have learned so much from all the amazing educators and Ms. V. I chose to come to TSPA because from all the other schools I looked at I felt like I fit in the best. The salon floor is very friendly and when you walk in you dont feel like you are being judged. TSPA also has the best known education for cosmetology throughout the bay area. Im not from San Jose so I even chose to commute to be able to attend this school. I graduate December 12 and I can not be happier with my choice of coming to this school. My personal mentor here is Ms. Natalie and also Ms. Shannon. I can go to them for anything and I feel like I connect with them the best! Tspa san jose!!!
