I gave Stranded two stars because I have two words of suggestion... BE ASSERTIVE!!! After my stylist of many years left the area, I found myself looking for a new salon. Back in Jan. 2008 I read so many rave reviews about Stranded I hoped it would be a good fit. I had an appt with Michael, whos an absolute love & v. professional. We had a good long talk, he looked at the pictures I brought, we decided it would take two separate appts to get the natural look I was going for. First appt went very well. Several weeks later-- not so much. I was informed that Micheal was unavailable ( a little detail they forgot to mention when they called to remind me the night before) but that Gabby had come in early to help. Now, Im not as assertive as I should be. Even so, I try to describe Michaels plan & the look Im going for despite the sinking feeling in my gut ( I just now discovered the post about colouring w. Gabby). Next thing I know, Im swept off to a chair & am informed that I need three kinds of foil; highlights, lowlights & caramel. Oh and by the way "Your natural colour is a dark ash blonde". I try to explain that I dont want grayish-greenish or brassy blonde. When asked what kind of cut I want, I explain that Im okay with trimming the ends for a neat & healthy look, but that Im not comfortable with more than an inch or so. I try to describe a classic look & mention that I dont vary my hair much.... So she starts in with the foils, & the scissors. I start noticing a lot of hair gathering around the chair. We get to a stopping point & I sort of say; That looks like a lot of hair. "Oh, but we still have to put in the layers! " Out comes the hair dryer; It looks a little dark in some places. "Oh, but the top layers are paler!" Doesnt that look a little gray to you? Oh, but youre an ASH blonde." Three + hours, two+ inches & two hundred dollars later. I tumble out of Stranded with a "what just happened" feeling. I get myself to a mirror... My hair looks like somebody plopped a cancer patients wig on me, one with fake grey-blonde hair. I look about five years older! I tried to call & re-schedule with Michael. When I gave my name they say "werent you just here. I explained that I would prefer Michael. "Oh, but if youre unhappy you should really go to Gabby". Why on earth would I go back for another round of mis-communication & someone elses styling? Apparently "Stranded" isnt just a clever play on words-- its also how you feel when theyre done with you . If you go to this place be VERY PRECISE about how you & your hair should be treated. Otherwise you may spend the next year or so growing out their efforts. Also, ask for Michael & dont settle. GOOD LUCK!

For over 15 years I was driving to Cupertino for my cuts because I thought there was only one person who could do the job on my curly hair. When that person retired 2 years ago I was freakin out. My wife, a manicurist, told me about Stranded. One of her clients is the owner Roxanne. From the moment I walked in the door I knew this was my new home for haircuts! Penny is awesome! The vibe is great! I was hooked up with Gabriella. The neck massage is worth the price of admission. The haircut was perfect!! I recently lost my job of 30 years and Gabby was kind enough to cut my hair at no charge. NUFF SAID!!

I so recommend Michael Anthony. I came in not quite knowing what kind of haircut i wanted, and Michael went to town on my head. The style is so great, so cute! Everyone was so friendly. There were complimentary mimosas provided by Penny at the front desk. It was an awesome awesome experience all around. Best fifty bucks Ive ever spent!

...or wine, depending on your preference. Either way, this is the first place Ive been to where I can get my hair cut with a drink in my hand. Ive been going to Stranded for three years now, and I have never had a bad experience. Penny is great, as are all of the staff. I highly recommend this place!

I get so many complements on my hair ever since I started going to Stranded Beauty, which is about 2 years now. I always tell them, "Go see Jason and hell give you ribbons of color, too!" I love this place and always walk out feeling and looking beautiful.
