This is a company run by Paul Campbell / The Campbell Group / TCG. Why so many names? Probably because hes a dirtbag and has to try to cover up other reviews. Search for those companies to find more reviews about him, and here is my review from my experience with Aviara, specifically Jennifer Weissenborn and Paul Campbell, at TCG. I thought that because I was dealing with someone who was NOT Paul but works at his company TCG (The Campbell Group - they probably had to abbreviate it to try to get away from all the people who know hes a dirtbag) I would be buffered from his scumbaggery. NOPE. Lesson learned - if you find out a property manager is working for Paul or TCG - RUN! This guy and his company are real pieces of trash. When I toured the apartment my impression was that it was a bit run down but for the price I liked it. And speaking of the price, it seemed super low for what you get. More on that later. I made it absolutely clear what I wanted the terms of the lease to be and I also told them my situation - that I needed to move in by a certain day because I was starting work so I needed to be moved in and ready for my first day, and that I would want to find and add a roommate sometime in the future to lighten the cost. So we would have to get all the paperwork done by the time I had to work (it was not that much of a rush) and one roommate had to be okay (for a 2br/2bath). They were more than happy to talk the talk about how thats great and as long as my credit is good, the roommate would have to be approved, etc. etc. then everything will be fine. I was fine with all that. Well after many delays it was getting closer to my deadline move date, I pushed them to go faster on the application (most places take at most one day to process an application, they took over a week), they delayed more. Finally the day I needed to move by they send me a draft of the lease. They EXPLICITLY disallow ever adding roommates to the lease in the future. I asked them about it and they said "Oh we changed our minds." So basically they waited until they knew I was in a tight spot then tried to squeeze me... what for exactly, Im not sure. Why would you want someone to rent a 2br/2ba for just one person? Anyway, although I presented my start date as a necessity to them, my work was flexible on the issue so I bumped my start date and told these idiots to take a hike. So TAKE NOTE: if things seem to be going well with these guys, theyre just setting you up for some way to screw you. From other reviewers I messaged for more detail on what problems they had it sounds like this company will do everything from scamming you by keeping your entire security deposit to avoiding you when you need repairs done. Also, beware the property is likely to be infested with mold and he will try to get you to sign MANY liability release forms, as he did me. Never have I seen before or since so many liability release forms! Despite that it is still illegal to not fix a mold problem, it is likely after you paid someone out of pocket to confirm to you there is a mold problem (couple hundred bucks) he would have tried to claim you signed away your rights (not possible) to try to convince you you have to pay for the removal yourself. But good luck fighting them in court about it while you live there! Bottom line: RUN. Dealing with this scumbag or anyone at his company is NOT worth it at ANY price.
