I truly wish I could give the Breckenridge Post Office negative stars. I have had a PO Box there for 6 years. I went to pick up a package last week and was told that there is no record of me in the system. The new postmaster told me that I "must have been receiving free mail for 6 years," and walked away without any further help. Russ called him back and told him that he is certain I have paid for my box every year. The postmaster refused to acknowledge this fact. I was told that unless I could provide receipts for my previous payments I would have to fill out a form for a new PO Box. At this point, I had been in line for about 45 minutes and the line of other customers was out the door (as usual). As calmly as possible, I insisted that I maintain my current box. After another 20 minutes of arguing, I finally gave up and agreed to fill out a new form, pay for a new key, and pay the annual fee, which I had paid less than 6 months prior. In addition to this incident, countless packages of mine have been lost or sent back. If you go to the counter farthest on the right you can see a post-it note from December with my name, phone number, and PO Box. Russ wrote my information on this post-it note because a package of mine went missing in December. A week later I went back in to see if they found it. I was told there was no record of a missing package. When I pointed out the Post-It note Russ laughed and said, "Oh yeah! Well if Im being honest I havent even looked yet." This place is an unprofessional and chaotic excuse for a Post Office. Is there anything we can do about the blatant disregard for customer service that we all experience (and are forced to pay for) on a daily basis?

This place is the worst. 1 star because 0 isnt an option, wonder what their average would be if it was. After reading all the reviews I have decided there is a problem that is endemic to this place. A few bad reviews are not indicative of an issue. Repeated and constant negative reviews are indicative of a long lasting issue that is continually being ignored. Below is just one of many issues I have had with this place: I am just about to come up on my 1 year lease of a PO Box and I wont be renewing. The place is almost always woefully understaffed and the staff has become generally apathetic. Seeing how things are, I dont blame them at all. So dont expect anyone to care about any problem you may have receiving your mail, and expect many problems. e.g. in the last year I had 3 packages that were delivered to this place and lost. Delivery to the post office was confirmed but they had no idea where the parcels were. Now here is where it gets really weird. All three were signed for by a J. Stein, but no one by that name works there. So... I can only think of two reasons why that would happen repeatedly. The first is employees are afraid to sign their name and be responsible for the parcel, the other is much more sinister. By the way I did check and make sure J. Stein was not the person who dropped the package off just in case. All in all, highly recommend finding another way to receive your mail.

Once again, russ and the US postal service in Breckenridge has let me down. Again, a package was returned to the sender because this post office refuses to accept a package that has a physical address on it. Most of the country gets their mail brought to their house for free but I have to stand in line to pay them only to have my mail not even delivered! The particular package that prompted me to write this was a christmas gift that I ordered. The company ships via Fed Ex so I used my physical address for delivery (like Ive done countless times before). Well, not receiving the package when I expected it, I looked at the tracking and saw that Fed Ex teamed up with the postal service to create a hybrid shipping service called "Smart Post". This relies on the post office to handle the last leg of a packages journey. After discovering the package was en-route to the post office and knowing how incompetent they are, I called Fed Ex to see about either changing the address or picking up at their terminal. They said all I need to do is contact the post office and they will deliver the package. Well I contacted the post office (twice) and was told it was too much work. Needless to say, the package was refused (again). No wonder this obsolete entity is hemorrhaging money and will soon be a thing of the past.

For as long as I have lived here I have never once had a pleasant time at the post office here in Breckenridge. Im a pretty easy going person and like to talk to people calmly about problems, this is not the same case for the people that work there. At LEAST twice a week I get others mail in my po box, letter that I receive half the time are opened (this is the case with many people that live out here) and to top it off whatever is done wrong is always our fault and cant be helped in an adult manner. By that I mean when I talk to someone about my package not being received, or my mail being open, or even to purchase stamps I get nothing but attitude from every single person that works there. I understand they probably get a lot of complaints, A LOT, and its not easy dealing with angry people, BUT this is what you signed up for and you get paid above and beyond what you should get paid for being horrible at your job. That being said you dont have to get angry at everyone when others are just trying to get something they paid for or a letter from their mom. Going to the post office truly ruins my day and I have no idea how this government job gets away with all the things they get away with, I need to do research to find a way that EVERYONES problems can be solved.

I dont know how anyone can have a good experience here. While I was in line the guy at the counter was yelling at a customer that he was just a pothead and could never pass a piss test. I didnt hear the whole conversation, but you should NEVER speak to a customer like that. It was the younger, bald guy with tons of tattoos that said this. Now my bad experience. I had a fraud notice on my credit cards so I had to have them all cancelled. This was a Sunday. The credit card company gave me a tracking number and it was delivered Tuesday morning, MORNING!. It is Thursday afternoon and they still havent put it in my box or given me a slip to pick up my package!!!! I leave tomorrow for 6 weeks! I kind of need my cards. I dont understand why it would take then 3 days to sort packages! This is insane! I waited 26 minutes in line (I timed it) to ask them why they hadnt sorted it yet. There answer...they have a pallet of mail to sort and they havent gotten to it yet. it should be sorted by business close on Friday (I leave Friday afternoon). As if the pile is going to get smaller the longer they wait! What worthless workers. No one is every smiling or helpful. I think I died and for some reason went to hell. Going to the Breck post office is like being in Hell!
