I tried Pep Boys out because they could do an oil change in the evening, my normal place closes at 6. The only reason I gave this 2 stars was for the extended hours. I called in the early afternoon, around 1ish, and set up an appointment for 6:45. I arrived at the store around 6:20, and walked inside the main doors. There wasnt any direction on where to check in for the appointment, so I hung around the registers while someone checked out. The cashier asked what I needed, then hollered towards the back for the service dept. The rep who eventually came out never cracked a smile or appeared friendly in any way; he went through my info with such disinterest that it made me weary. I get it - it was the end of the day and youre worn out, but it made a horrible impression on a first (and last) time customer. I asked how much a tire rotation would be while outside at the car getting the mileage info, and was quoted a price, but there was no follow-up asking if Id like to add it. I felt like he could care less for my business and I was hesitant to add it on because I felt like it was burdening him. Inside I did add it on though, because my car needed it and I was already here. I went into the waiting area around 6:30. I figured itd be about 15 minutes more for the tire rotation, and with the 30 minute guarantee oil change I anticipated it being about 45 minutes total. At 7:25 I asked how much longer my car would be, and was told 10-15 minutes. When I went to check out, the terminal froze as I was signing for the credit card charge. The rep rebooted his computer but it showed my charge didnt go through, whereas my credit account showed it had. I called my credit company and spoke with a rep, who verified the charge had gone through. I gave the phone to the manager so he could get confirmation and the transaction number. I didnt leave until 7:58pm. I understand the terminal freezing was probably a fluke, but it was just another issue to deal with on an already frustrating visit. Even being generous and saying my appointment was at 6:45, it shouldnt have taken an hour and fifteen minutes for me to get out of there. I scheduled an appointment and expected that to mean something. Yes, I added on a tire rotation but I do not feel that justifies the amount of my time wasted here. I will not be returning.

I had an appointment to get an oil change and replace all 4 tires. James Dotson was helping me. I told him I had seen them on line for $37.00 and he proceeded to tell me thats an online price. They are $49.00 in the store. I explained that I may need a an alignment as well as I have a coupon for an oilchange for $19.99. He asked if was military and I said, "I used to be married to Satan and he was". We both laughed. I explained how the car had been pulling to the right and the tires were wearing. He said," Ill fix you right up. The oil change will be $19.99, I will give you the tires for 37.00 and a front end alignment will be $79.00. I will also give you a 10% military discount to earn your return business". I thanked him for saving me some money. My boyfriend talked to James off my speaker phone. He wouldnt let him finish talking and stormed out the door stating hes not listening to me. Literally acted like a child who didnt get his way! From that point on i got a huge attitude! So unprofessional! All because I was waiting a few days till I get paid again for the alignment. The car was done and someone else checked me out. I was in a hurry to get to a Dr. Appointment. Thinking, that price seems high $381.20. I went over the charges and he charged me full price for the tires, $31.99 oil change and no 10% discount. I called and spoke to one of the managers. I have to go back tomorrow to collect my discounts that JAMES DOTSON lied about giving me. I will see how this gets handled tomorrow to see if they ever get a second chance. Great way to show appreciation for a brand new customer. My boyfriend raved how he loves Pep Boys for tires and maintenance. I came and got treated like crap! Pretty upset about it!!! So I spoke to the manager the following day. I explain how I was treated, the promises that were promised and never delivered. He is going to credit my Visa $64.00 and send me a coupon off the alignment I need next week. I have to say if it werent for Terrance I would have never gone back. I am a little nervous that they may screw with my alignment because I mentioned Jamess first and last name. I think I will check around and shop prices...

FURTHEST THING FROM OUTSTANDING I took my car to get the oil changed and to get the brakes inspected. They called me hours after I left it there and said they could not find my wheel lock key. I told them where it was, but he called back saying they still could not find it and that it would cost $52 to do it without the key. He was persistent in the fact that they looked everywhere and it was absolutely not there. I told him I would just look for it myself when I got there, so I got back to the location and found it immediately right where I told him it was. I ended up having to leave my car overnight so they could actually get to work on it. The next day Don called letting me know I had to replace front and back brakes and my back two rotors. He quoted me over $700 which is way more than I had to spend. I had my Dad call since has a mechanic background. He told my Dad that this was serious and that he didnt feel comfortable letting me drive off the lot with my car in the shape it was in. Don called me once again after speaking with my father trying to convince me to just go ahead and let them replace everything. He quoted me over $600 this time. My Dad decided to come all the way here from Oklahoma due to Don telling him how serious the matter was. I declined the recommendations from them and brought the car home for my Dad to fix. Come to find out only the front brakes needed replaced and THE ROTORS WERE NOT CRACKED AT ALL. Don tried to scam me out of around $500 and made my father drive 10 hours to change ONLY my front brakes!!! I am beyond disgusted! Not to mention all the numerous harassing comments he made to me, such as, "tight pants and a nice car, it doesnt get better than that." I felt so uncomfortable by his desperate and nauseating attempt at flirting(while wearing a wedding band), annoyed by his incompetence, and THEN I FIND OUT I WAS LIED TO!!! I will never go to another Pep Boys again, and I will tell everyone I know about the unprofessional service and about the SCAM they tried to pull!!!

I had a very good experience today at Pep Boys. *Cliff Notes* The staff was super friendly, the wait time was very short, and the prices were excellent. Earlier in the week I had gone to Big O to get new tires and an alignment. They quoted me $600 for their cheapest tires and an alignment. I went ahead and just did the alignment at Big O because the tire prices seemed extremely inflated (see what I did there?). When I drove home after the alignment, my car was pulling harder to the right than it did before they adjusted it. After this experience at Big O, I was very hesitant to try out another chain store. I had never been to Pep Boys but decided to risk it and give them a try. I am sure glad that I did!! I went online to browse their tire selection and found the tires I wanted. I booked an appointment online to have 4 new tires installed and a 4 wheel alignment. The quote I got for everything was nearly $100 cheaper than what Big O quoted me! (and this was for a far superior tire AND a road hazard warranty!!!!) The day of my appointment I got a call from a worker at Pep Boys to let me know my tires were at the store and they would see me at my appointment. I showed up to my appointment 30 minutes early and they got me in right away. All in all, it only took about an hour to have everything done. I talked to the technician and he let me know everything was good to go but I had a slight noise in my driveline when he took it on a test drive. He gave me a few suggestions on what to replace. When I went to pay the bill, it was exactly what I had been quoted online. When I got in my car to drive home, it felt like I was driving a totally different vehicle. My car actually drives straight again! Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience at Pep Boys. The employees were very pleasant to deal with and took the time to talk to customers while they were waiting. I will definitely be coming back in the future for parts and service.
