I visited Sonterra on Monday 1/23 around 5pm and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was not very busy, few people sitting at the bar and 2-3 tables being attended. I was seated in a table and was immediately brought nachos and sauce to enjoy while my waiter came to attend me. Long story short- food was great and my waiter was lovely. Yesterday, 1/24, I decided to go back for lunch time since I had such a wonderful experience the night before... this time it was completely opposite. The restaurant was quite busy. Most tables were busy however the bar was empty. So I sat myself at the bar and waited. 5 minutes later, I had to ask one of the hosts working, to please give me a menu. Then the bartender asked me what I wanted to drink and I told her water and I ordered a salad. She said ok, gave me the water, and left. I waited about 25 minutes, and nothing. The waiters were all walking by, even the manager I think, and no one asked me if I was ok, if I was being attended, no one brought nachos, no one cared. I didnt think anything of it because the restaurant was busy and I understood. But thats not the reason why I am writing this. A white older male came in , sat two chairs from me at the bar, and a male bartender took his order and gave him his drink. I kid you not, 10 minutes later, he got his ENTREE, and one of the waiters brought him nachos and dip. The same waiters that were walking by looking at me and not saying anything. I asked the manager why my food was not coming and she said, "we are trying to get all of the food out, not only yours" and left. I am a young Spanish girl, from NJ, who is in Colorado for business, and I can not tell you how disrespected I felt. I was so angry, I left. If I could talk to the owner, I would. And I would tell him or her how unprofessional his staff were. I will not be going back to this restaurant.

this is so disappointing for me to have to write.... my husband and I loved going there for special dates and occasions, on December 23rd I made reservations for our visiting family and us at 6 pm.... we arrived and only about 2 tables were taken, yet the hostess tried to seat us at a small table right in front of the door.... we declined and asked for a different seat not right in the entrance where cold wind would blow in everytime someone came in.... so she sat us one table over.... just ready to sit and eat we said whatever, we sat at that table with no greetings or "Ill be right with yous" for about 30 minutes, a table that got there 10 minutes after us got drinks before us and got their order taken before us, we were actually getting up and putting our coats on to go to the sushi place two places down, when Abby walked up to our table, acted as if we hadnt been waiting, for some freaking drinks at least, 30 minutes for her to make her grand appearance. We werent the sweetest customers Im sure but you cant blame us when we were already so patient. so we finally get our drinks and some chips, then place our orders, food came out fast as always and looked perfect, but the waitress "Abby" forgot to bring my father in law his pico, she put my order in as something completely different from what I ordered, thank god the kitchen staff knows how to do their job because they fixed it really fast after I brought it to her attention. After all that went wrong with our visit we were charged full price.... it all just irks me since I was a server for almost 3 years.... I would never treat a table like she treated ours.....

Ive always enjoyed Salsa Brava, especially the one in Rockrimmon; the GM there, Scott, seems to do a magnificent job. However, after going to Sonterra Grill, I see that not all Managers are created equal. The Manager at Sonterra Grill...I think he was the GM, seems more interested in walking around trying to appear busy, than he is in genuine guest satisfaction. He stopped by our table during our most recent visit, and while he was there, we pointed out that two of our dishes were a bit on the cold side. He literally looked at our server, who was serving another table, interrupted him and told him to deal with this, as he had no time to take care of us. Then, we watched him belly up to the bar, and flirt with the female bartender; meanwhile, our food got colder, and we became more unhappy. There is a saying: you are only as strong as your weakest link - however, what do you do when your weakest link is your Manager? This guy belongs in slowly produced fast food, not casual dining.

Tex-Mex to the Max The Colorado Springs Food Guy recently visited the Sonterra Grill located at 28 S Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 which is an upscale Mexican restaurant with American Southwestern flair. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. This menu is delightful and their recipes are outside the box with culinary style. All menu items are freshly prepared. The chips and salsa are served up warm and delicious. However, my favorite dish is the Carne Asada. The beef is tender, well-seasoned and delectable. What sets this restaurant apart is the presentation of each dish – absolutely top notch. At Sonterra Grill, make sure you leave room for dessert and order their Banana Foster. It is flambéed tableside and is so decadent. What a wonderful ending to a night out. So if it is date night or happy hour, make the Sonterra Grill is at top of the list.

Went with some friends 4 of us total. We ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and were really looking foward to it. They brought out 3 average size shrimp on a small scoup of rice. Did our waitress not count before taking the order. To top it off it was $9. Then without asking and before we were finished they attempted to take the plate away. I paid $9 dont touch my plate till Im finished. Then again for our main course before I was finished she took my plate without asking. Rude! Lucky I was finished. Same with everyone in our party. It took longer to get our bill than it did the food. Approximately 5-6 minutes after paying we were asked our plans for the evening. Then she came back and said so what time do your plans begin, because we have people we need to sit. Really!! 5-6 minutes after you pickup the check which was nearly $100. Wont go back based on service alone.

Snooty rude young immature staff. Waited 20 mins for anyone to even look our way. I asked the host if he could answer a question..he immediately said he would get someone and ran off. Another 5 mins of waiting..and my husband and i started looking around to find 2 bartenders eating behind the bar...3 hosts talking amongest themselves at their stand and 3 servers talking to each other at the far side of the bar. After 30 mins of being ignored we left. I dont know if its because we were dressed less than impressive since we had been moving into our new apartment but that still doesnt excuse 30 mins without anyone even offering water. Never again will i step foot into this place. Btw we had 5 pm reservations as well which makes this issue even more inexcusable.
