A really disappointing experience. This used to be our favorite restaurant, but the quality of the food and service and atmosphere has gone way down. We were seated in the back corner where wait staff continued to reach over our table to get into a cupboard. My chicken was like rubber and my side of spaghetti was like a plate of sauce with 10% pasta. After we said we didnt want any drinks the waiter continued to push it on us. We had drinks from the bar and were not ordering a second bottle of wine. After I made it clear we wouldnt order wine, we were not treated nearly as professionally and warmly as the table next to us. When the waiter asked us if we were done and we said yes and wed like the check, he didnt remove the dirty plates in front of us and then we waited almost 20 minutes. We watched him open more wine for the table next to us. Finally, I said lets just leave cash for what we owe and leave. Then, as we were waiting for our car, I noticed one of the hostess was sitting on the host stand, dangling her feet, chomping gum and twirling her hair while reading a menu. I was shocked at how unprofessional it was. Marco, the maitre d, did give her a glance and she jumped off the table. It seems like Venice may be in financial trouble because they are now offering an "all day, every day" happy hour special. They are not participating in Denvers Restaurant Week 2011. They also, as other reviews have stated, have crammed in more tables that should fit to push people in and out. They have hired staff that seem more suited for a Dennys than an upscale restaurant in downtown Denver. When we were seated, the waiter approached us and instead of a "hello, welcome to Venice", he asked me about my jewelry. We have been eating here for years, but we will not be returning. Venice needs a makeover asap.

The first time stepping into the establishment we had excellent service, was served promptly and completely satisfied. Yesterday was our second time. We were sat dto a small table in between 2 other tables. Usually, they ask what type of water you would like? That did not happen water was just poured into our glasses. Upon picking up my water glass I felt and noticed what seemed to be grit or food particles on the glass. As I inspected all of the glasses, they too had this same grit. So I reached in and felt the inside of our wine glasses and BOOOOM! There was grit too that you could visibly see. I had the glasses replaced twice including the water glasses only to still have gritty glasses. In the midst of it all I had ordered a Papparedelle and my fiancee ordered a veal and artichoke meal. When we were first served, I got my correct plate but my fiancee had not it looked to be Chicken Parmigiana. That is not what she ordered? One of the wait staff came with two more plates for the waitresses and they did not know where they went, so he sat them down and told the two ladies to figure it out. Standing right next to us they discussed the goof/mishap; while my fiancee had already been playing in the plate. They brought over her correct order; then took the PLATE that was sitting in front of her and GAVE it to the CUSTOMERS right behind us. Also another couple behind us to the left was taking pictures and maybe recording the whole thing. Whats sad is the waitresses blatant disregard public health in a restaurant as well as decency was out the window. I will NOT BE GOING back..NO TIME SOON..I was highly dissatisfied with this experience seeing that our first experience was above and beyond.

I MADE A RESERVATION for 12 people the night of my birthday, but things did go quite as I had hoped. We showed up early for our reservation to make sure there were no problems. I checked in and the hostess said it would be just a little bit until our table was ready and to let her know when most of the party shows up. We waited till our reservation time came and then I went and checked in with her again to tell her most of the party was here. Again she said it would be a few minutes, so we went to the bar to get some wine. AN HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER we were able to be seated. The manager was so nice to us for having to wait he bought us two bottles of champagne and a few appetizers which I appreciated more than anything being in the industry myself. We were finally sat at the table and had the absolute worst service I have ever had in my entire life. Being in the industry myself I try not to judge too hard, but honestly, I felt like my birthday was ruined. The food was great, but the wait time was ridiculous, and the service was less than exceptional. I would like to go back and try again, because the atmosphere was nice, the wine was good, pricey, but good, and the food was good, but I do fear for the service.

We enjoyed our meal, wine, and good service...until our credit card went missing. It was then that we received great service. Our server, Dennis, was looking everywhere in the restaurant as were other servers; this spoke volumes to me about their commitment. Initially, I was concerned that our credit card was being stolen, but it became clear that it was innocently lost. Dennis was willing to give my husband his information just in case. The manager, Alberto, came over to speak to us and comped our meal. Even though my husband, Dennis, and I had all looked in the folder, Alberto was able to ascertain that the card had slipped through a slip and was behind the black plastic. He removed it and still comped our meal. We would have been happy to return to the restaurant even if we had been charged after having found our card (after all, it was an easy to make accident; no harm, no foul), but for the fact that Alberto went above and beyond, we will be happy to return -and- to recommend the restaurant to our friends. This was handled so incredibly well.

My girlfriend and I made reservations through OpenTable about 40 minutes before arrival. Upon arrival, we were told it would just be a couple minutes for a table and that we could wait in the bar. We ordered some wine and talked for about 40 minutes. I went back up to ask about our table and was told that it would be a couple more minutes. I wasnt too upset, it was a last minute online reservation, and they were really busy. After discussing it with my girlfriend, we decided to just eat at the bar. I went back up to the hostess to let them know of our decision and I guess the owner was standing at the podium. He apologized profusely for our long wait and told me that dinner was on the house. I have never had an owner take such a proactive position and attempt to right a perceived wrong. The food was amazing, as was the bar tender who waited on us all evening. I hope to visit again soon.
