This company is very rude, condescending, hard to reach (does not return calls) and does not follow through on maintenance of their properties. I rented from this company for a year and had numerous bad experiences. We were looking to rent in Teller County which doesn’t have a lot of rentals but has a lot of people looking to rent. When the property came up for rent I called several times and was told they were not yet showing the property due to it was still being cleaned and some maintenance performed. I was told they would call me back but I never received a call. After a week I called again and was told to call back in a few days. It was very difficult to get scheduled to see the property. When we went for our walk through the day we got our keys the property wrote down a list of things wrong that we asked to be fixed (mold in the shower, trash outside around the property, lights burned out throughout the home, toilet was running etc.) Jonathan took notes of the issues and said someone would be out to handle it. I didn’t hear from anyone and sent a few emails with no responses. I called and left a few messages with no return calls. I finally threatened to not pay rent until someone contacted me and scheduled to take care of the issues. Someone then promptly called me back and scheduled to come out and take care of things. Jonathan & the home owner both came out and reviewed the issues that I had complained about. The home owner was very nice and said he hadn’t heard of any of the issues till a few days prior and Jonathan then claimed he didn’t receive any of my emails or calls. I was then told I was supposed to put in a maintenance request on their website (first I had heard that I was supposed to do that). The problems did eventually get fixed but Jonathan was very rude about it. A few days into renting this property we ran out of heat. I had to pay for an emergency call out (on a weekend) of fuel delivered but after receiving full the furnace still wouldnt come back on. I called and complained for over a week and Town & Country kept saying there wasn’t anyone available in the area to come and look at it. I advised that it was getting very cold at night (we were burning wood) and it was very possible the pipes could freeze and asked If it would be ok for me to call around to the local heating companies. They said they would get back to me and a heating company called me later that day. Overall I was without boiler heat and hot water for almost 2 weeks. This is just a few examples of the many bad experiences

To be honest I was really nervous about Town and Country based off their reviews. Im not discrediting those that gave them a bad review as they might have changed how they run business. I started with them in April 2014 as they helped me find a house ina. Nice neighborhood, near the base, and was pet friendly. The owner they managed for didnt want more than 2 pets, however they vouched and get the owner to approve my 4 dogs. It cost me a pet fee that is non refundable, but they worked with me. We rent for a year and then decided we wanted to buy a house. They told us if we decided to use them to find an house they will waive our contract to move out fee free. They were excellent and found us a house in a neighborhood we never thought we could afford and did an excellent job negotiating a lower price and the seller paid the closing cost. The moving out was a nightmare as they had someone ready to move in and we had a short deadline we bust our tails cleaning and when it came time to move i thought they would nickle and dime security deposit to nothing, but they didnt. We actually received 1360 out of 1390 back. They did need a little reminder that they were a little late on the timeline given, but they took care of it right away after my call. I am completely satisfied with TandC reality and would recommend them. I know everyones experience is different, for us they were honest and fair and that was far from what i expected. Im active duty Army and was stationed in Ft. Carson for three Years. My family and I arrived in Colorado Springs in the spring of 2009; we were short on time and had to settle for a house with Town & Country Realty. When we initially moved in, the house on Blake Drive still hadnt been cleaned from the previous tenants; there was trash in the front and back yard. There was many other small issues but been in the situation we were in, we had to settle for the house. We leased the house for 3 years and never were late on payments or gave them any problems. I PCS in November and spent allot of money bringing up the house to contract standards; cleaned the rugs, paint the house, ect. To no unveil, Town and Country refuse to return any portion of my deposit; taking advantage of my situation I am in-stationed in Fort Wainwright Alaska. As a matter affect, According to them, I still owe them money for "Normal Wear and Tear Issues" such as walking on the floor. If this helps anybody, PLEASE DONT RENT FROM THEM, they are devious with their practices of renting homes. Do not trust them and if you’re currently rent with them-legally terminate your lease with them as soon as possible. They will make up any type of excuse to keep your deposit and charge you for normal wear and tear issues that is their responsibility, like not buying name brand air filters, Excuse Me. If you’re ever on the market for renting; skip them, they will only RIP YOU OFF in the end.

We have rental now from this company now for a few months. Ive honestly have not run into any issues that have been posted on this site. There were a few things that need repair in the walk through and they were very prompt in getting the issues fixed. I did run into some issues at getting a hold of Linda but, I did not find her rude at all and frankly I think more of the trouble with getting a hold of her was she seems to be the only one showing the properties and seemed busy. I see some people were complaining about the homes being a mess and this was true for us. But Ive never walked into a perfectly clean rental personally Im still waiting for that to happen. We were able to clean up the place and is now livable. For me personally the experience with this company has been pleasant and would recommend them. Recommendations for staff, I would have someone on staff that could help with the showings. Also have a cleaning crew or higher one on the messy homes. I dont think you can fully leave that to the tenants. In general renters are pretty messy and really dont care about the property they are occupying. They should be charged for leaving the place in a mess. You shouldnt have the new tenants burden that.

I shouldve done more research when looking to rent a property from this company. Absolutely a horrible and dishonest experience. When I moved into the property it was in okay condition. Really nice place but just not taken care of. Chipped wall paint, ripped carpet, stains in the carpet (Which they guaranteed were cleaned, but once re-cleaned due my insistence, you could tell a complete difference), overall presence of the place when I moved in was disappointing. When I first met the owner he was interested in something that my company offered, Reputation Management. This was a HUGE Red Flag but it was too late. Obviously they have an ethics problem. I was charged and nickeled & dimed for the most ridiculous things. The worst was a $170 cleaning charge. The property was 10 times cleaner when I moved out not to mention that I followed and did everything their move out form requested. Ive never had a problem with leases or getting a deposit back, ever! Town and Country Realty is unethical and dishonest. Read the other reviews, and stay away from this company.
