Re/Max helped us put an offer on a house that we had found ourselves but their agent (Shell Avery) insisted we sign an exclusive agency agreement that was “no big deal,” and that we could “get out of for any reason. We didnt get the house and as we tried to work with her, service was incredibly poor, she was unresponsive, and didn’t seem to offer any actual advice. We found another property on our own and at that point, told her wanted to work with another agent. She did not agree to terminate the exclusivity agreement and insisted on a 25% referral fee… despite the fact that she had not put in any work. We are now pursuing legal recourse. Recommend you avoid at all costs.

Are you kidding me? These folks charge their BUYERS a $300 storage fee to keep copies of the contract, paperwork etc. Next they will be charging buyers a percentage of their business rent, admin costs and coffee for the break room. Isnt 2.9% of the buyers side good enough? ( 2.9% equates to approx $8120 for a median priced home in the Denver Metro area of $280,000)
