A few years ago, I had a really bad experience at Hoffman where they forgot to connect my alternator back up after doing a repair on my car. I was stranded in New Haven and had to get a tow back to Hoffman. Hoffman refused to pay for the tow and for the inconvenience gave me a free oil change. I have never used the free oil change in fear they would forget something like putting the oil filter on. Years later, coming home from vacation get into a car accident in Maryland. Make it home with zip ties and tape and look up repair places in the northwest corner that my insurance company supports. I come across Hoffman and think about my last experience. I think to myself they must have better staff by now, well I stand corrected. The repair seemed to go fine however when I get home I put the e-brake on and notice it goes straight to the floor. I live at a house where my driveway is a 30% grade so I am very familiar if my e-brake is working or not. I call up Chris at Hoffman and he suggests coming in early in the morning and they can look at it right away. I take it in yesterday morning and am told that “the cable is connected and that a service is needed as it appears the drums are worn out or it brake cable needs adjusting, the adjusting would mean we would have to take apart the center console so you need to call for a service”. 30 seconds later my car is out front and pretty much told to leave. I find whoever just worked on my car in the 10 minutes I was there was covered in some white chalk or at least I am hoping it is white chalk. I can’t seem to get some of the chalk off, see the pictures for yourself. I just Armor All’d the car 4 days ago. So long story short, just like my first experience everything seems great until you drive away from Hoffman, then the quality of their work shows. I will be taking my car somewhere else to be fixed and would suggest you do too!

In September 2016 my Toyota Land Cruiser was hit by someone making an illegal left hand turn. My vehicles front end was damaged but the vehicle was drivable. I drove it to Hoffman Auto Body just at closing time. Jim Kronick, the shop manager saw me pull in and he opened the door to take care of me. He went the extra mile to get me a rental car and tried his best to minimize the inconvenience this accident was going to cause me. Mr. Kronick was fantastic. He kept me updated and he made the process flow very smoothly. I am super meticulous and I only use Toyota parts when it comes to my Land Cruiser. Using Hoffman Auto Body has one huge benefit over the competition: All of the mechanical repairs were done by Hoffman Toyota and all of the repairs were made with genuine Toyota parts. I felt much better knowing that everything was done right and not with cheap knock off parts. As an aside, Mike Fitzgerald at Hoffman Toyota also did a fantastic job of taking care of the mechanical aspect of the accident and he also called me to keep me up to date with their findings and their repairs. Mr. Kronicks team had my Land Cruiser repaired ahead of schedule by several days and the repair was perfect. Again, I am a pain in the REAR when it comes to details, but all of the gaps in the body panels were perfect, and the paint job was spotless. Mechanically, the vehicle was perfect as well. I have been in other car accidents before and when I got my car back I always felt that even with the repairs, the car was worse than before. Not this time with Hoffman Autobody!!! As strange as it sounds, I feel like my car is better after the accident then it was before the accident. I just want to thank Mr. Kronick and Mr. Mike Fitzgerald for their exemplary customer service.

I brought my MR2 to Hoffman after another driver changed lanes into my rear quarter panel, scraping hard above the wheel well and all the way onto the drivers side door. I chose Hoffman because James Nadolny was patient and thorough going over the car to assess the damage, when I first got the estimate. I went to five body shops for estimates; I wanted to be confident that I was bringing my car to a shop that would deliver good results. James gave me that confidence because he was careful and patient with the car. At one point, he assembled a few people to look at MR2, because he wasnt sure about a particular area of repair. I liked that; it made it clear to me that he was serious about getting it right. Hoffman was able to deal successfully with my insurance company to arrange for all of the repairs; this required negotiating a supplemental check from the insurance company. And, finally, the car came out great. This new body panels match the old very well; the paint job looks clean and careful. (And they buffed the car all over, to make sure it matched.) The new panel tolerances are consistent. In fact, the car looks much better than it did *before* the accident. They even cleaned up an extra area of the car--my headlights. The repair job was first-rate even without this polishing of the headlights, but its further evidence of what I thought when I first got the estimate: James and the team there were serious about getting the car right. I highly recommend this body shop. A great experience.

The top line on Hoffman Auto Body: great people in the front office, skilled craftsmen in the shop, and a true can-do attitude as their guiding principle. My wife and I were on a New England road trip, and had stopped for a few days to visit relatives in Connecticut, when we noticed that a left rear bumper/body panel on our 2016 CRV appeared to be coming off. The relatives we were staying with, who have bought many vehicles at Hoffman, suggested we give them a call. We called Hoffman & made an appointment for the next morning. When we arrived, Chris greeted us warmly and took a look at the issue. When we explained that we were continuing our trip the following day, Chris said he would see if a temporary fix could be made until we got home. Auto Body Tech Rex took our car into the shop. In about a half hour, Chris told us that we were set. We went out to our CRV, where Rex explained what the problem was and what he had done for the temporary fix. We were both pleasantly surprised when Chris told us there would be no charge for the work Rex had done, that Hoffman was doing it as a courtesy. To Chris and Rex at Hoffman Auto body, thank you! And to anyone in the area looking for a place to take their vehicle for body work, be sure to make Hoffman your first stop!

I got rear-ended a couple weeks back on Farmington Ave. Luckily I got out of the way and only got hit in the rear tail light/fender. I took it to Hoffman because I bought the car from them and had a good experience. The repair experience, I have to say, was NOTHING like the purchase!! They failed on MULTIPLE issues! #1: They fixed, rather than replaced, the fender. Result? The fender shape has changed slightly, either from the impact or from their work, and now it rubs on my tires with even the slightest bumps. #2: Completely missed two, major spots! Im talking about spots where the paint is gone all the way down to the metal! I cant believe they missed it. #3: They got lazy on the paint matching. They only blended the fender into the door, but did NOT blend into the bumper! The result is that now the left side is noticeably darker than the bumper and the rest of the car. I have a copper orange car, so I realize this is a difficult color to match, but they didnt even try to blend the bumper at all! Yeah. Dont go to Hoffman Auto Body for service. I will update if they can fix the problems... Im taking it back again. If they fail this time, Im going to AllState to get a new check to take my car to a different shop.
