I have been a member of Cardio Express for one year & often come with my close friends from work. I told my brother he should join my gym, as we often work out in a group & it is a good motivational experience. Within 5-10 minutes of us doing goblet squats together (as we often do without him) he was asked to leave on the assumption that he was training us. Jill "from corporate" told us she had been watching him supposedly train us for over 40 minutes, which would be impossible because we had only been doing squats for no more than 10 minutes. She was very rude, condescending, & unprofessional in her approach, often cutting us off before we could finish speaking & talking over us. She told us she could provide us with a video of people in her spin class "turning around, pointing at us, & asking questions" & even went so far as to offer us video surveillance. When we took her up on her offer she told us "well then, youre going to need to hire an attorney." After we tried to go back to working out, we felt as though we were being watched by her & a coworker. We spoke to management to tell them we felt like we were being stalked & were uncomfortable. The manager told us we were being surveyed due to the previous accusations of my brother supposedly training us. Jill then returned to tell us she was not watching us & that "she felt we should not feel that way." We then asked to speak to someone who works above her & were told there was no one, but we could email member services, which would take 24-36 hours for a response. This was by far one of the worst costumer service experiences I have ever had. My brother was discriminated against & we were watched to the point of being uncomfortable. When I asked to cancel my membership I was told that I would be charged for the upcoming month, even if I was no longer using the facility. When asked if this could be waved due to the circumstances, she again told me to send an email. For someone from corporate with no one above her, youd think she could have done more.

Gym was closed to men with no prior notice due to work on mens bathroom. (There is a health code law that says you cant operate a gym facility without adequate facilities). The first time frame for closure was approximately three days. When three days were up a new sign was posted on front door with a new closure time frame, this one approximately eight days. The closure could have been handled a lot better. For instance, a closure such as this should have been posted several weeks in advance, giving male members time to make other arrangements. Additionally, a plan could have been put in place where the remaining bathroom facility (the womens bathroom) was split between members. For instance, the gym would be open to men/women on alternating days. Ive been a member at this gym for over ten years. I like them a lot, and I recommend them to everyone. However, the way they handled this closure seems like an approach similar to when you want to layoff an employee: no notice, no meeting, you show up one day and find a sign on the door, and no admittance.

At $10.00 per month you get what you pay for. The weight machines are aging and need constant repair. Cardio equipment is in fair to good condition. The carpet in the gym area has stains in many areas and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Now lets talk about the mens locker/shower room. The showers are in poor condition, missing shower heads, cant control water flow and some of the faucets seem like they will fall off in your hand when turning the water on. There is always a toilet or urinal out of service and takes weeks to repair. The laminate counter top is literally falling apart and held together with large screws that someone can get injured on. The laminate is peeling off with mold showing. The carpet in the locker room smells and extremely soiled. If you dont wear something on your feet when taking a shower, it could cause issues. This is one carpet that needs to be replaced. Lockers need help and the walls painted. Basically, general maintenance/repair would solve these issues. Will that happen, I will believe it when it happens.

I signed up for Cardio Express more than a year ago after a really bad experience in another local gym. Jason, the manager greeted me and I signed up immediately. Shortly following that, my fiancé, my sister and my fiancés sister all signed up as well. The entire staff is amazing. I have been a member of many gyms since I was 18, and no one has ever cared to remember my name. Every Cardio Express staff member knows who I am, says hello, goodbye, and makes small talk time to time. The energy they provide to their members alone is worth it. You enjoy seeing them everyday. The machines are always in working order and clean. I have become completely addicted to numerous spinning classes. Jason, Lisa, Donna and Ramona put on a great class. I also really enjoy the total tone class thats offered quite a bit through out the week. I definitely found my gym and for the money, I am completely satisfied.

Would recommend this gym to anyone, and trust me, I would not have recommended it 3 years ago. Second time joining. Totally redone. I went to this gym around 3 years ago and had some of the same experiences other users describe below, but those reviews are certainly out of date by now. I rejoined because my brother joined and said it was a great gym. Come to find out, the place has been totally redone, new staff has been hired, and the sign up process is great. The staff member gave me a complete tour of the facilities before even talking to me about membership options... which made me feel much more comfortable spending my money there. They are open 24 hours 5 days a week and open on the weekends so its extremely convenient. The staff is very personable and enthusiastic about new members. They remember my name and always welcome me when I walk in as well as thank me when I leave.

Horrible customer service! I walked into cardio express wanting to try out the gym before signing myself and my family up. I told the girl at the counter I was from out of state and just moved to Connecticut. I handed her my coupon for a 7 day free trial and then signed a document. We went through a full tour and even though I told her I wasnt interested in a few areas she still proceeded to go over them. I understand they are paid to do that but after I was walked all over the facility she told me to sit down to sign more papers and she needed my ID. She took my ID over to the counter then came back after I filled out more papers and said since I didn’t have a CT license I couldn’t use the 7 day free trial and the only way I could use the facility is to know another member. Well cardio fitness I will take my business elsewhere and I hope others do as well.

I have been to many gyms over the years and this one by far was beyond words. The equipment was decent, however the staff had no idea how to use any of the equipment and couldnt provide any help to those in need. The guys who worked their spent all their time checking out the hott girls and undressing them with their eyes while the girls who worked there spent all their time making sure that their lipstick was just perfect. I have never been to such a superficial place and so glad to get out of there. I would never join again simply because I have morals and values.
