Similar to the review posted below, we also broke down on 95 on our way from MA to Va. It was a Sunday and the only place open that we could take our car to was the Firestone. After waiting around for hours and $110 later we were told that our BMW had a problem with its gasket and that they could not repair it till the following day and that it would be a $500 repair. Frusterated and stressed out, we had to get a hotel and try to find somewhere else to take our car that didnt charge so much. We landed on Shippan after reading the review below and calling the owner and telling him what was going on. We dropped the car off with him and about an hour later he called us back and said the problem was that a spark plug came loose and ruined our coil. He fixed the problem for us in 2 hours and charged us a fraction of what Firestone had misdiagnosed our car with. When we went to get the car the owner brought us to the back bay and showed us exactly what happened and how he fixed it and told us that he had even taken the car out for a ride to make sure the problem was solved. Our car is running great now and we are so fortunate that we found Shippan! Great, fast, loyal, friendly service!!

Our BMW was having engine problems on our way back from DC to Newburyport, MA, on a Sunday night, so we stayed over in Stamford. On Monday morning we called our mechanic and he advised us to find a repair shop that works on BMWs and have the engine scanned to see what codes come up.We Googled BMW auto repair Stamford CT, and found that Stamford Auto Repair (which is now Shippan Auto Repair) was less than 3 minutes from the hotel. We drove the car there around 9 in the morning and talked to the owner, Tony Cardillo. He told us to go have a coffee down the street at Dunkin Donuts and come back in an hour and he would hopefully have an answer for us. When we came back, the engine had been scanned and Tony had taken it out on the highway to road test it himself. It turned out that it was nothing serious and we were able to drive the car back to MA. A normal 1 hour service charge is $120. He charged us $40 and we made it home with no problems!

My family and I recently totaled our vehicle and was in a desperate search to find another. Weary of buying a car 200 miles away, we called Shippan Auto to see if they could inspect the truck for us. As busy as they were that day, they fit us in and inspected without payment. Tony gave a thorough and detailed inspection and gave us an unbiased opinion about the vehicle. He then sent me a text message with all of the issues because I didnt have access to a fax machine. He went above and beyond to help us and he will not be forgotten. Thank you, Tony!!!!

I needed my rear shocks replaced. Tony was able to schedule me even after Hurricane Sandy came through the area and brought down the power for half of the week. My expectations were managed well. I was told to come in a few days after the storm, once they had a chance to get back up and running. I dropped off the car in the morning and picked it up at noon. They were also able to determine how the adjustable shocks worked. I was charged a fair price.

After a crappy 0 degree day when my car wouldnt start, I ended up with great service at Shippan Auto Repair. The folks were kind enough to drop me off and offered to pick me up when the work was complete. Additionally, there were some things wrong with the car that the people were honest about not "needing" to be fixed, but that could be. Ill definitely be back (but hopefully I dont have to).

Tony was great! My driver side window was stuck all the way down but with a snow storm coming, among other reasons not to keep your car window rolled down when the car is unattended, I definitely needed it fixed ASAP. I called ahead, the shop was closing in one hour but Tony fit me in. Timeframe was quick and pricing fair. Will definitely go back but hopefully wont have to for a while!

Ive been bringing my cars to Shippan for years, and they consistently exceed my expectations. The work is done quickly, expertly and on-time. Youll never have a bad surprise - theyre scrupulously honest and very reasonable. If they say something needs to be done, it does, and if it doesnt, theyll tell you. Its a pleasure doing business there.

I trust Tony with my life. I was introduced to him by a fellow employee at a local limousine service (who would know about local repair shops) and Ive taken my cars and my childrens cars to him for the past 12 years. He is an honest tradesman. He had better not ever retire, at least not until I move to another part of the country.

Tony is my go to guy, has been for about 5 years now. Honest as they come (has saved me money letting me know when his services werent actually required, just user error) and everything he has fixed for me has stood the test of time. Just the best.

Diagnosed and repaired my Mazda3 (needed new clockspring), did it in the timeframe and for the price he quoted. Its good to find an honest mechanic, especially since my experience with other places in Stamford have not been good.

Tony time and again does the job faster and cheaper than most mechanics.
