I have been a very "happy customer" of Crossfit Relentless in West Hartford for over almost 5 years now. After having two kids, I was on the lookout for an exercise program that was challenging yet efficient for the minimal time I have. Crossfit has been an incredible experience. I like to describe it as "personal training but in a group setting"...Im paying waaaaayyyyy less than I would to use a personal trainer but still getting great results. The best part is the amazing sense of community there...everyone, including coaches and other members, are constantly encouraging you & pushing you to be the best you can be. You cant get that going to the regular gym walking of the treadmill & doing a few nautilus machines. I especially like how particular the coaches are, making sure we carefully review every motion we are planning to do that day in the workout & use the correct form so injuries are avoided. You can tell they have fantastic training & really care. I feel like Crossfit is a perfect combination of strength, endurance & flexibility training...so you get a little bit of everything...and when you finish a workout you think "I can do anything!!" Within my first year there, I was able to do my first Crossfit competition & run my first 5K thanks to the great training I received at Crossfit Relentless. Its true what the owner said to me on my first day "You can have excuses or results but not both"...so spot on! It was just the kick in the a$$ I needed to take my body & my health back under control. I am proud to say that my body now at age 41 after having 2 kids is better than the one I had at 20 years old. Joining Crossfit Relentless was one of the best decisions I ever made & I honestly cant imagine ever going back to working out in a "regular gym" again. Im hooked! The new owner Erik Castiglione is amazing. He runs a tight ship and has made it into even more of a cohesive community that ever. There is new equipment and it very clean and organized which I appreciate. If you are thinking of trying it out, I suggest you "rip off the band-aid" & go for it like I did! :o)

This is my 3rd year at Crossfit Relentless. To tell you honestly, I had a family friend (around my age and female) who absolutely swore by this gym and was looking better and better physically. So I got very curious and decided to "try it out". Make a long story short - my friend stopped going to the gym shortly thereafter, but I stayed. I like the coaches, I like the people at CFR. Very supportive atmosphere. Workouts are hard, but even at 49 - I feel like a million bucks - heading out to the attack my work day after 8:30am class. My wife is pleased as pie with "functional fitness" - she gets much more use out of me around the house and around the garden presently - without whining and triple advil treatments in the end of the day. I have MUCH more energy throughout the day when I go to CFR in the morning. It feels very nice to be able to lift heavy object around the house and not worry about "pulling my back". I know what I can lift and I know what I cant (yet) lift. My sons friends think that its a very nifty party trick when I can squat my "Tiny Tim". Tiny is pushing 230lbs and 64" tall. I cant squat him 10 times, but I can squat him 3-5 times reliably, and his peeps think its a hoot. And so do I. BTW - outside of benchmark WODs - I dont think that I did the same WOD in 3 years. I NEVER know what the heck Im walking into each morning (cough...Murph...cough). Sometimes I walk in, look at the board, and just shake my head in disbelief that someone would actually dream up such a travesty of a WOD. Ill NEVER finish this one....and when I do finish that particularly twisted WOD, I feel pretty darn good about it. And I live another day to come back and do it again (after a day rest). I only wish that I found this in my 20s or 30. Not in my late 40s. When I see some of our CFR "quiet warriors" just warming up with my 1 RM. Im reminded that Im no 24. And Im OK with that. Thankfully, I only have to compete against myself - not against Big Bob. Or even Denise.....

From the moment I stepped foot into Crossfit Relentless, I knew I was home. I had recently relocated to West Hartford from Northern California about 4 months ago and needed a new Crossfit home. I had left a big, amazing community back home in NorCal and knew that I needed to find something similar here in Connecticut in order to function properly as Crossfit had become my sanity for the past 2+ years. When I googled Crossfit gyms in the West Hartford and surrounding areas, I found several to choose from, but for some reason, my heart led me to Crossfit Relentless first and foremost and I have never turned back. What I found from day one was a wonderful, loving, supportive, knowledgable community of coaches, owners, and fellow Crossfitters and even more than that, I found me again! I found a place where my heart could sing and my passion could soar to new levels I never knew possible! Every day I walk into CFR, I know I chose the right place....a place where I get to learn and grow each and every time I enter and a place where I get to get an amazing, crazy workout in with people that I love, cherish, adore, and respect. I truly feel as though I never left NorCal (except for the freezing cold weather!!!) and I know I made the right decision because I am amongst family who loves me, supports me, and is constantly helping me to better myself each and every day and for me, that is priceless! The facility is amazing, the coaches are fun and very knowledgable in everything they do and Merle and Glenn put their heart and soul into running the business and it speaks for itself! I couldnt ask for a better "new" home here in Connecticut and I thank everyone at CFR for making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. You have changed who I am from the core of my being and I am a better person for it today!

I have been a member of CrossFit Relentless for two years and have had an excellent experience. I am 45 years old and have been working out in some way or another for the last 30 years. Prior to starting at Relentless I was bored with my workouts and I was no longer making progress. Things are much different now. The best thing about Relentless are the coaches. They are knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic, and able to work with athletes at any level. Also, there are several coaches with a variety of skills that complement each other nicely. Another great thing about Relentless are the members. They support each other and motivate people through the tougher workouts. It is always fun to run in to members around town and see what they look like when they are not sweating and breathing heavy. Another great thing about Relentless is that there is a family of boxes that are connected (033, Ironworks, TriMountain, and South Windsor). Joining one box allows you to also work out at the other boxes. This allows a change of pace and scenery. Sometimes several of the Relentless members will plan to meet at South Windsor for Yoga or Olympic Lifting class. This allows us to meet new people and benefit from other coaches. Now my experience at Relentless has become a family event. My wife joined a few months ago and is loving it even though we came from very different athletic backgrounds. In addition, my 11 and 13 year old sons are benefitting from the teens class and are gaining confidence and increased athletic abilities. In sum, I would highly recommend Relentless to anyone who is looking to get a jump start on their workouts in a friendly and supportive environment. Just know that you have to come ready to experience some pain.
