On April 7 2011 pj Fitzpatrick made an estimate on a job to replace a pole holding up our porch roof Work order states " remove 5x5 wooden post on front porch brace front roof install new vinyl reinforced porch column".The estimate was for 647.50 and they took a deposit of 200.00 For many weeks we never heard from them so we called They claimed there was a problem with the company they ordered the pole from and they would get back to us. They called back and said pole was in and set up date to come out and install on May 10. The worker arrived in a small van with the back doors closed He did something outside while I was inside. I believe now that he took measurements . He then knocked on the door and informed me that the post he had was too short and he would have to order a longer one He stated it would have to be bigger than the existing pole due to the height A square 8x8 pole He also stated he would have to jack up the roof to install the pole and there would be no additional cost. I now believe he came out to measure around the old rotten pole in place. Last week we received a call that our "new pole" was in and they were able to install on 6 /13. No one would be home on that date so I arranged for my father to be present Fitzpatrick was to arrive between 11-1 pm When my father arrived at the house work was already in progress They had arrived at 10:30 and were in the process of cutting and placing what appeared to be aluminum around the old rotten pole. My father said he asked the worker if that would hold up the roof and he assured him it would My father then paid with a pre signed check left at the house 447.50 I was furious when I arrived home and have left two messages about the work Have not had any response The company will not tell me what they installed although it appears to be a snap together aluminum post cover The receipt left by the worker states "installed one sandstone 8x8 flooted column on the left corner of porch". So basically the charged us 647.50 to install a cover that sells for about 200 on line and comes with do it yourself instructions There still remains a rooting post. The customer service told me they hd taken out the old post and put in a new wood post covered in pre painted aluminum and then fought with me when I said they had not They then told my father who called to tell them what he witnessed that they treated the rotten wood first and then wrapped it I would like the job done properly and the rotted post removed and replaced as originally agreed to.

I sent an e-mail inquiry to these folks for a quote to replace the roof on a house that my wife & I bought for my father to live in, and also to do some very minor repairs to the chimney & gutters. They called back quickly, which was great, but wanted to send someone over to fix the problems. I explained that the minor problems would be resolved during the roof replacement, as it made no sense to do them separately. Apparently they have two "divisions" - one that does repairs & one that does new roofs. Getting to the point where we actually had set up an appointment was painful - and then they started to badger me about making sure my wife was there for the appointment. I told them three times, I would try to have her there, but could not guarantee it 100%. Youd think we were doing a kitchen remodel - its a roof on a rental house, for crying out loud! Anyway, we set up an appointment for 9 AM on a Saturday. On Friday, I get a callto "confirm" the appointment. Then, they ask if we can make it 8AM - I said "fine". Then, the whole badgering about having my wife there starts all over. Can I guarantee that all interested parties will be there??? I have never been pestered or bothered by someone to whom Im trying to give my money. THEY changed the appointment from 9 to 8, while Im driving and juggling work calls, and they want a guarantee that my wife can also be there. Un-freakin believable. I told her several times thay I would do my best - that wasnt good enough. Finally, I just told them to cancel it - I want nothing more to do with them. In this economy, to hassle prospective clients (clients who can afford to pay cash, by the way) to the point where they walk away - these people need some customer service training.

Its funny, I had been personally referred to PJ and then came on and read these reviews recently when someone said they read them. I got some other estimates as well. All of the estimates were cheaper and as it was my brother was also looking for the same thing I was, new roofing on the side of his house. We went with PJ Fitzpatrick and spent a bit over $8,000 for the large section of roof. My brother went with one of the cheaper quotes, spending $4,800 for a portion roughly the same size as ours. PJ took their time and also talked to me about some other options we could do, however we didnt do them. They were professional and worked fast when replacing the roof. Three years later my brothers roof has major leaking because the shingling was not done properly. I dont understand the specifics of it, but they didnt do something right. He then went to another company with a cheaper price to "fix it" and they did, for about 2 weeks until the next big storm we had in the area. He finally called PJ Fitzpatrick and they must have done it right because they pointed out many things wrong with the prior installation and took care of them. We havent had a problem with ours in five years and my brother has now spent over $15,000 on his roof that I know of because he went cheap. Also, as long as we have the roof it has a lifetime labor and craftsmanship guarantee. That labor guarantee is great. Its the last roof well have to buy, ever, period. Weve had a lot of work done to the house by them and weve only had one problem. I called at 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon and it was fixed for free by Thursday afternoon. They also adjusted and caulked our gutters for free. Dont be cheap, go with the best you can get. You get what you pay for.

We had an issue in our roof that had deteriorated over time and I guess this past winter finally did enough to where we were able to notice. We had PJ come out and perform an evaluation of the issue. I knew that the repair work would be considerable given the extent of the issue / damage. Jim Hall fully explained what his analysis revealed. We even went (via some body contorting) into the attic space to see first hand what was going on up close on the underside of the roof. I was comfortable with the estimate and the planned approach to address this issue. After some scheduling delays due to my availability, today was the day. Jim arrived promptly at 8am and detailed what his plans were for the day. Remove a section of roof that had been rotted away. Replace with new plywood sheathing Install new dryer vent / cap Install new waterproof membrane over plywood and under shingles Install new replacement shingles While I was able to be available, Jim made sure to touch base and showed me the materials being used over the sheathing and under the shingles. It was a top quality product. Jim went over and above to examine some other areas and even removed a plastic horseshoe from one of the gutters in the back of the house (I have no idea how - we dont have children). This had been there for some time and had always seemed to escape me on the "honey do" list. He also tightened up some other loose areas as well. Jim made sure that I had no further questions or any other needs finally before wrapping up for the day. I am quite satisfied and would contact PJ in the future should the need arise. According to tomorrows forecast, the repair work will get a good test! Thanks PJ Fitzpatrick!
