This company did a small job in Wilmington. I sent two letters to them requesting the bill. They never sent it. I called four or five times shortly after the service and requested a bill and they never sent one. We pay hundreds of bills so I assumed, after never hearing from them, that it was paid on site either by credit card by the property manager or the tenant. Keep in mind that we never once saw an actual bill to pay (so no idea how much to pay). You often dont ever see a bill when you pay by credit card. Two and half years later, I received a nasty call from a collections agent. I explained the situation and asked for a bill. I showed them the letters I sent. They argued that I had never paid the bill, made a request, or sent a letter (in spite of all the paperwork to the contrary). We paid the bill based on a verbal amount, but to this day, we have never seen a bill from them. I suspect it was paid twice. Regardless, of all the companies in Wilmington, Delaware, this is the LAST one I would use for any purpose. Their billing is too much of a mess. We filed a complaint against them with the state and the city to put it on record.

I called about warranty service on an American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning unit they installed. They were supposed to get back to me after checking on my coverage and prices (after a 3 day wait) and did not. I do not believe the warranty was worth the paper it was written on and Im sure it was a total waste of my money. I will not ever use George H. Burns services again (Just like another reviewer noted, they got off the phone after I mentioned my warranty with promises to call but did not call back). They hooked me up quickly after my furnace went out one cold New Years eve. I bought one of their most expensive furnaces and a 12 year warranty. In the end, when I needed warranty service, they let me down big time.

This company installed a gas hot water heater in our home for $1200. I thought I smelled gas that evening but was unsure until the next morning when a visitor entering our home was overcome by the smell. I used some soapy liquid and found the leak myself. Numerous phone calls to the business that day were left unheeded and no one arrived until after 6PM!. We had to call the gas company. Gas levels were so high that is caused headache and stomach upset. Soldering on copper tubing was all over the pipes, very sloppy work. No one called us to apologize for the inconvenience or the terrible service even after I complained at the follow up call. Using this company could be life threatening.

We solicited Burns for a bid to replace our aging furnace and whole house air conditioner in 2006. Due to the age of house (built in 1923), we accepted their recommendation to construct a return air system to help the HVAC system work more efficiently. We were satisfied with the cost of the system, the quality of their work, and attentiveness to customer service. We later retained them to maintain the HVAC system twice a year (cooling in the spring and heating in the fall). Weve been very satisfied with their work, and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a competent HVAC contractor in the Wilmington area.

Been very satisfied with GH Burns, we got an entire new furnace and AC unit, it works great, the service techs were very professional, wore shoe booties to keep our house clean, and we highly recommend them. There was a small issue with the a/c unit and it was covered under warranty and was no charge to us, and it works fine now. The only issue I can think of is sometimes the women that answer the phone can be a little surly, but other than that- no complaints.

Not a big fan. They dont know what the Nest thermostat is - and blamed everything on it (despite the problem being not even related to it). If youre looking to do something related to building an efficient up to date system - Id look elsewhere.

George Burns put my heating and A/C system in 13 years ago. It was an American Standard. The heat exchanger on the oil heater went bad. I called George Burns and as soon as he found out it was warrantee work, he refused to come out.

I recently called Burns for a new garbage disposal. They came the next day and the service men were pleasant and efficient. I would use them again for any plumbing issue
