I recently went to Aveda to use a gift certificate for a mani-pedi. Now, I am not one to get my nails done.....maybe once or twice a year I will treat myself, but otherwise I am by no means a frequent mani-pedi girl. But despite my low numbers of pedis, as soon as soon as I sat down in the chair, I knew this would be an experience like no other.... I got led down to the basement into a room that was probably 5x5, and got invited to sit in a chair. I thought this was a chair to wait while they got things ready. Nope its the pedi chair. Then they brought in a tub of water for me to put my feet in. mmmmmm k. A pillow was then put in my lap to do the mani, while my feet soaked in the tub. Then, a little foot stool was wheeled in to put my feet on for the pedi. WHAT??! All I have to say is that my butt was numb for about half of the time and I had to like stretch my legs and move my feet around when the lady switched tools because it was so uncomfortable. Nowhere to put your head back either. I came to learn that as it was a Monday, it was promo day so my mani-pedi "treat" was only $50. "So what is it normally?" "Oh, $70." Whhhhaaaaat??? Im all about being economical, and if this set-up were a standard 30-35 bucks, Id be ok with it. I literally can not imagine someone paying $70 for that. Wow is all I have to say. The only reason I went was because of my gift certificate but I will sadly never go back. Most uncomfortable mani-pedi ever. I did give it two stars though because my lady was really nice and so were the people at the front counter.

This is in regards to a mens cut, but ladies avoid this man too!!! So I went in for a walk in appointment, and was graciously given an appointment within five minutes. A kind and welcoming Vietnamese gentleman brought me back to the chair and began the normal " so what are we in for today" except it was so broken and indecipherable I actually could not understand the man at all and simply gathered "hair cut today". I told him to simply cut my hair short enough there arent any curls or waves showing, and a slight fade on the sides. Final result: Left stray hairs EVERYWHERE Very long hairs over my ears No fade Did not clean my neck AT ALL Hair still wavy Cut the small hairs on the front youre never supposed to cut because they grow back slow and ugly. Post traumatic stress from trying to understand what he was trying to say. I say avoid at all cost, because this was $52 for something I literally could have done myself.

I recently visited DC for a quick weekend getaway with my husband. I started the weekend with a massage and a brazilian. The massage with Kim was fantastic - one of the best Ive had! It was just the right amount of pressure and she had great energy. Then on to my very first brazilian! I had read all the previous reviews about Karina, so I had specifically requested her. And I am glad that I did! She made the entire experience very easy and wasnt as painful as I thought it was going to be. She was quick, efficient and we even enjoyed a few laughs!! My only regret is that I wont be able to use Karina and Kim again until I visit DC again... or move there! :) Thanks girls!!

I have been going to regular hair appointments for maintenance of my blonde color for over years and just moved to DC. Made a big mistake in chosing this salon. The stylist did not make sure he knew what I wanted, applied the wrong color to my hair, turning it orange, and refused to acknowledge the mistake. It was a manager that offered to fix the color by adding highlights to the mess. All I had wanted was to color-match my roots to the rest of the hair. What a mess! I have scheduled color correction at a different salon. This appointment was $130 and the WORST hair experience.

DO NOT get a bikini wax from this salon. I had a wax prior to an important event and had to return for a second, yet unsuccessful, wax because no hair had been removed - it was simply ripped off at the root and left to ingrow just prior to my event. Im considering filing a complaint with the cosmotology licensing board in DC and have taken pictures of the irritation inflicted on my skin. The spa tech didnt even use powder on my skin before beginning the service, ripping more skin from my body than anything else. I REPEAT - DO NOT USE THIS SPA!

I went there to get an all-over color. The guy that did my hair had no idea how to color- my hair turned orange! I went back to get it fixed, and they put lowlights in. Now I have an orange strip on the top of my head and dark color through the rest of my hair. Oh, and I had to pay for the color AND the lowlights (which they said was the only way to correct what the guy did to my hair). Completely overpriced, unprofessional and inexperienced people. I have never had a worse experience in a salon- DO NOT GO HERE!

Scheduled and booked a maternity massage. My masseuse was 10 minutes late showing up and did not know I was pregnant until he saw me. He was overtly disappointed. When I asked for some water, all I got was a dixie cup of tap water. He left the room during the middle of the treatment which disrupted the relaxation. At the end, I went to pay using a gift card from Aveda which they did not accept. They stated they do not accept gift cards at that location. Low rent experience. Go elsewhere

I had a haircut with Shana and absolutely loved it! By far one of the best salon experiences Ive had. She was friendly and professional, and the overall cut and style was great. I didnt need to explain too much before we started, but it turned out on point. Because they are an Aveda salon they use all Aveda products which is a real treat! Giving 4 stars for now because it was my first time, and I have yet to try other services.

I have very thick, difficult hair to cut and style. Sheri always gives me a perfect cut that is easy to maintain, even as it grows out. When she does highlights they always look natural. I also have had eyebrow waxing with Karina, who is an artist. She takes her time and truly styles your brows. The services are expensive, but I feel they are worth the extra cost.

Love it! I have a sensitivity to chemicals and fragrances, so I go to Aveda. Lauryn has cut my hair for two years and is great. Very efficient. The massages are unbeatable. Alex is very good. (Im sure everyone else is good too; even the shampoo ladies are good.) When I got my hair highlighted, it looked so authentic. I got many compliments. Even my mother liked it.

Imo one of the worst avedas in the area. They are not knowledgeable about the product. The stammer through explanations and dont really give good advice when I ask about specific issues Im concerned about. To top it off they are more expensive than other stores and online plus they offer no product samples. Not going to this one again.
