NIGHTMARE. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT come here for brazilian waxes. If I told you my wax resulted in a labial tear that was confirmed by GWU Hospital would you believe me? My injury was congruent with a birth tear! I have no children!!! Truly a nightmare situation. The technician was super unskilled and had me stretch my skin in all angles before I felt the tear. I immediately started bleeding heavily and the technician asked if I had my period. She could not make the correlation that the tension of the waxing caused my sensitive skin to tear on (get this) the same side of my body that she just waxed. I fear its not a matter of wanting to fess up to her botched waxing job, but a matter of incompetence of the human body. After 2 emails, 6 calls and 4 messages the only response I received was that its physically impossible for a tear to occur. They told me they consulted with their own fantasy OBGYN. Therefore theyre implying that I came to Mimosa with a labial tear AND my period - wow what a perfect time to get a wax! The next day I sent my medical report clearly stating the diagnosis and pain medication that was prescribed as a result. I could post a pic but feel its too graphic for this platform. Its really disheartening that not even the owner or manager returned my call, it was reception. My only ask was to cover my medical expenses as a direct correlation to this incident. I waited 8 days to escalate the situation as Ive been a loyal customer for the last 1.5 years. Unfortunately Im sincerely disappointed and let down that this is how theyve chosen to respond to this very serious situation. Put your body first. Do not come here.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH! STAPH INFECTIONS RAMPANT! I went to Mimosa 2.5 weeks ago for a gel manicure and I received a Staph infection from the salon. The manicurist was incredibly rude and rushed and severely cut my fingernail and it started bleeding. She did not apply any sort of antiseptic on it, only glue to stop the bleeding. I went to the doctor the next day due to pain and swelling and was prescribed antibiotics. I have since called Mimosa to speak to the manager FIFTEEN TIMES and left a message EACH TIME asking for a refund for my manicure. Not ONE CALL HAS BEEN RETURNED. Ive also sent two e-mails (with a letter from my doctor stating what happened, as well as my bank statement proving the purchase). The manager and salon have not responded AT ALL and I am at the point of getting legal counsel. This place has an incredibly bad reputation in D.C., do not go here it is not worth your money (or your health!) Ive never felt more disrespected and disregarded as a customer, especially about something so serious. For your awareness- I was lucky that my Staph infection responded to antibiotics. Some Staph infections are drug resistant (google MRSA). DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE AT THIS NAIL SALON WITH YOUR HEALTH. THEY WILL NOT CARE IF YOU ARE SICK OR HURT AS A RESULT OF THEIR ACTIONS AND YOU WONT EVEN GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!!!!! MIMOSA SHOULD BE CLOSED!

I was originally going to give these guys 4 stars because I had gotten a decent pedicure for only $25 from them and a good eyebrow wax....but I went back tonight for a manicure and pedicure; The pedicure went fine, but then when it came time for the manicure the lady who did my nails cut two of my fingers with the cuticle nippers. She kept putting this oil on my nail to try to stop the bleeding and was touching the tip of the bottle to my cuts!!!! Cross contamination anyone? I am really nervous about getting MRSA now. It lives on everything!!! Luckily I know the signs so im keeping an eye on my fingers. I really dont know why I didnt just walk out at that point in time. I should have left with my manicure unfinished.... Not only did she make me bleed, but she didnt file my nails evenly, polished my nails sloppily(the sides of my nails didnt get any polish, only the tops) and didnt even offer me a refund. Its pretty poor business sense to cut someone and then not offer the manicure for free. I could have given myself a better manicure at home easily. The polish looked so sloppy I took it off as soon as I got home. Ill be contacting the BBB tomorrow.

It was my first time getting the gel nails, I was excited about it but felt extremely disatisfied with the result and the service. Reasons why I will not come back and dont recommend this salon: 1) After three days with new polish, two nails started to chip. To my understanding, the polish is suppose to last for over a week, the whole purpose of paying more. 2) Called the salon to get nails fixed, they accepted only if I brought the receipt, and I did. When I arrived they were rude, not helpful and had a horrible attitude. Asked me the name of the person who did my nails. How am I supposed to remember? Their names are all Asian and I am not even from here! Not ot mention that I would never think this would happen to the polish that I needed to get the persons name to come back. I think that some of their polishes are old... or that they simply do a horrible job! Turned out that I wasted my break time from work to get nails fixed in vain.

I usually go to the mimosa that is next to dolcezza. This time I decided to go to the other one that is next to the restaurant. i went in to get a manicure with my bf. The lady that attended me seemed super rushed & didnt even offer me anything to drink. I switched chairs because the one that I was sitting on was super wobbly & she kind of yelled at me & said "excuse me but you are suppose to seat on this one" & I kindly explained the reason why I switched chairs. After that she looked annoyed at me. When my bf was done the lady that was attending him literally got up & didnt offer more to drink while he waited for me. Once they are done with you they totally ignore you. The lady messed one of my nails & when she saw that I was checking my nails she rudely told me to put my nail on the gel light, like if I cant complain for a service that Im going to pay. I feel like that location needs to focus more on customer service.

Despite some harsh reviews, I went to try this place. I went in on a Monday around noon for the special - Monday through Weds happy hour $25 for gel mani or pedi. I called ahead. They were not busy at all; they told me that Monday, Tuesday in the early afternoon tend to be slow. Thanh (pronounced as thank) was my technician and she was awesome - she was fast, thorough, and very friendly. They dont scrub your hands but do provide a mini hand massage which I much appreciated. I left her with a reasonable amount of tip because of the cheap happy hour price and she thought the tip was too much! I guess it depends on which technicians you get but my experience at Mimosa salon on Connecticut was nothing but amazing. (Also, you cant expect too too much when youre only paying $25 for the whole hour.) Id definitely go back!
