Bad experience at Zips in VanNess Centre. I will never take my clothes there, they ruined a good jacket. I had read the online reviews of that particular place and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, how wrong was I!!! When I picked up the jacket, having read the 2-star reviews online looked at the coat right there to see if they had done a good job. I found a white spot on the front side of the coat, spot that was not there before. I reported the problem, they told me that they would work on the coat and that I should pick it up the next day. Went to pick it up the next day and the white spot was still there, asked to talk to the manager. Manager comes and tells me that they had only pressed the coat, not spot cleaned, apparently the clerk did not ordered spot cleaning. Manager tells me to come 5 days later since he himself was going to work on the coat, Got back five days later only to find out that the coat has not been cleaned!! It was on the Managers office!! I vented out to them that the service was unacceptable and that they shoujld have called me to let me know that it was not ready; Manager was not available to discuss it. Finally they told me to come the next day, which I did only to find that the spot is still there. Asked to talk to the manager/owner, he starts telling me that the spot is because of sweat and that the material had stretched out. I could not believe what he had just said, I told them they had ruined a perfectly good coat, he then just looked at me apologizing and saying there is nothing he could do it. Well, so much for giving them the benefit of the doubt. The service that they do at that place is cheap, the attendants are always in a rush like if they want to get rid of you; management tries to find unreasonable excuses for their service. Bottom line, I rather spend $4 extra dollars in a decent cleaner that will give my clothes back in good condition and will save me dealing with Zips.

Zips is a cheap price... Therefore, you get what you pay for in this town. Stop thinking that you will get high quality, detailed work at a bulk cleaners and not have oversight, mistakes, mishaps and the rest.... Low prices usually mean a shot in the dark... Take the shot and stop whining or take the shot and cry for nothing... It wont be the same as a small family run cleaners.. It aint as expensive either.. Zips ripped my shirt, caught it in the middle, informed me offered a discount on the repair, I took it (que sa rah sa rah...lol)I can still wear the shirt without the rip showing.. If I couldnt, I would have donated it.... Next time use some of your bar tab to go buy another shirt if you dont want it next time. You can shop and shopping is fun... They didnt lie about it like the guy at Parklane Cleaners down the street so Im happy about that because that shows they respect their customers instead of blaming it on the customer or denying that it was the material etc. Stuff happens... Its just material things...

Stay OUT of this dry cleaners! If you show them spots that need pre-treating, they ignore it, which means you have to waste time coming back again after they offer you a second cleaning. And this has happened more than once! Know that they disclaim liability for everything on the back of their receipt, so if you come in to have one button sewed on and you get your coat back with three buttons missing, they disclaim liability for that like they just did my coat! So basically I wasted time getting one button sewed on bc now my coat is unwearable since its missing the other three that were there when I brought it in! Their counter clerks are very nice, but seriously the price isnt worth the multiple trips Ive had to make for them to fix and re-do their careless cleaning! Id rather pay more and preserve the life of my clothing. Thanks for nothing Zips!

Went to this cleaners years ago and now that weve returned to DC, tried them again. Drycleaned polo shirts and went to pick up and once home noticed dark staining or other stains on shirts. Returned them and picked up again, this time inspecting them while still at the cleaners and stains still on shirt. After another attempt (and stains remained) I took shirts to another cleaners and they removed them without me telling them of the stains. Constantly double creased pants and when I mentioned this to the manager, he just shrugged his shoulders and said they would try to do better. This was once a fairly decent drycleaners, but now seems as if management has changed and service, quality control, and oversight has gone downhill.

I have been a customer for 2.5 years and the quality of the work they do have constantly deteriorated. 3 weeks ago when I picked up a lot of garments I noticed after a couple of days that we had received pants in a much larger size than we have in our family they where also so worne out so I have difficulties to imagine somebody give them to the drycleaner at all.. anyway I gave them back telling them that we had received them by mistake, After another week my son realizes two of his fairly new chinos are missing and we then understood they were still at ZIPS. Went back to complain they said they will contact me IF they find them.. which will of course never happen.

The pricing is unbeatable in the area but Ive run into some poor customer service from time to time, even from the manager. I came in a few minutes before closing time and would not be serviced, clothes in hand. The manager kept saying it was after 8 when on my phone it was a few minutes before. Though I showed the time on my phone he kept pointing to the round clock on the wall which was minutes fast. I think it was poor business, especially from the manager. There few friendly faces though. Still, I started going to Park Cleaners down the street which has similar pricing--and better customer service.

after my experience with horrible customer service today (think smiles at ruined clothing and lack of apology for the inconvenience), i will NEVER return to zips. while i had experiences that were not as negative, i would much rather pay extra for the extra attention and care given to me as a person, as a customer, and to my garments. i even called their central number, and was basically given the brush off. if you care about your clothes even an ounce, i no longer think the cheap prices are worth the chance.

Where else can you get an item dry cleaned for less than $2? But what really impressed me were 2 great service experiences: 1) when my car got hit in their parking lot, they had it all on film and gave me the name and license plate of the customer who hit me and drove away. Thus I was able to get my car fixed and have the perps insurance company pay for it. 2) when I moved x-country and accidentally left my 2 best shirts in their store, they fedexed them to me without me having to jump through hoops.
