This place is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Im not the type of person to write reviews, but the service I received at ETHNIC HAIR CARE on OAKFIELD AVE was horrible. The owner, Tina, told me to come to the salon at 3, and when I did, I was not seen until over an hour later. There were only 2 stylists there including the owner. The stylists that was shampooing and setting the hair was clueless. The owner continuously had to interject to help her (I was surprised she was licensed and worked there for a year). I couldnt even let her finish blow drying my hair, because she was tearing it out. Given that my hair is natural, I would assume that a salon that states they press hair would be able to handle that (but I was wrong). The owner eventually ended up blow drying my hair, very harshly but the end result after pressing was OK. Additionally, she quoted me a price but charged me an additional $5 when she entered the information into the credit card machine. I refuse to go to this salon again. I was highly disappointed because the salon is close to my house, I guess I have to start going back to Tampa to get a salon that knows what theyre doing.

I have been going there for years and am very pleased with service Ive received there. I find the staff to be extremely professional. To the poster Wendy I know for a fact Tina does possess a flat iron and does an amazing job with it. To the other poster that commented that they are suppose to be church people and all they do is talk about folks. Ive had nothing but stimulating conversations there about current affairs, and music. Of course there are times when we joke and laugh but that is happening in most salons. To say she is not current is a false statement. She provides her clients with classy hair styles. From what I recall orange, blue, red and green are not natural hair colors and if that is what you want you might want to go elsewhere. This is a SALON not a hair shop or beauty parlor. Pookie and June bug will not be coming in selling boot leg DVDs. If Tina was rude to you maybe it was because you were rude to her Wendy. I am 100 percent sure she did not curse at you. That is not her STYLE.

I have NO IDEA what the poster Wendy is referring to......NOT the Ethnic Hair Care Salon on Oakfield Drive in Brandon, Fla.!!!! Ive been patronizing this salon (NOT a Beauty Parlor or Shop!) for a while now and my stylist (Miss Tina) just seems to get better & better with every visit. The Salon is quite professional, friendly and "family oriented". Tina greets EVERYONE that crosses the threshold with the same warmth and professionalism. Most of the clientele ARE God-fearing, church-going women of culture and sustance. Ive even seen a few MEN come for the ethnicity of the services offered such as braids and dread locs. Anyone that says otherwise is, sad to say, grossly mistaken about the level of services this salon has to offer. It is truly the "best" ethnic salon available in the Greater Tampa Bay area and, definitely, in ALL of Brandon. Check it out. You wont be disappointed. I guarantee youll be back.

Dont waste your time...I just simply call Ms. Tina to ask her straighting techniques and got very nicely curssed out with out the use of curse words. This lady was by far the rudest lady Ive even talked to. I will never go to this place and never refer anyone to her. The funny part about this whole thing is that I have never even met this woman nor gotten my hair done by her, but I promise I NEVER want to meet her or EVER set foot in this salon. I was giver her the chance to prove all these comments/ratings about her wrong but she simply confirmed that she is an unprofessionally rude woman. Save your time and effort and find somewhere else to go! -Wendy

Tina, the owner, is incredible! She is kind, sociable, and has been doing hair forever! I get compliments all the time on how beautiful my hair is, which I owe to her. The other beauticians in her shop are always of the highest caliber, and everyone works together to ensure everybody gets the best treatment and hair-do, of course!

terrible salon! its sad that she has to comment positive on her own salon to get a better rating and still being judgmental.... Who are you to judge? If someone wanted lime green in their hair so what... they are paying for it right? I agree with Wendy, very Rude and so unprofessional

Finally a Stylist that listens to the Clients needs and wants. A very wonderful woman, She know exactly what she is doing. The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. I recommend that everyone who has Natural or Relaxed hair should come by and see Ms. Tina
