Going to see Tim again for repair and check up for 2016. Wouldnt take my cars anywhere else. Honesty and trustworthiness are rare in this business, and Coopers is a stand out. Tim Cooper has been taking care of all my cars and trucks for many years and his work ethic and personality in addition to his ability to diagnose and FIX problems is unparalleled. An update -- Feb 2015 -- a seriously dangerous situation was avoided by Coopers expertise once again. A check engine light that could have been one or more problems resulted in replacement of cam shaft and crank shaft position sensors which are critical to keeping the engine from shutting off while driving. It is a very sporadic problem and only rarely will the sensor get out of position and make the engine misfire or stop completely. These parts are notorious for problematic manufacturing and a failure can only be detected while driving. If you feel a "mis-fire" while driving that doesnt repeat, you might ignore it, but , your check engine light may come on . Tell Tim immediately so he can address the issue for your own safety. Many dealers and repair shops will replace everything that might or might not cause the problem, hand you a big bill, and still not address the real issue. I had this problem and had the sensors replaced, but many of them are defective when manufactured and the problem repeats unexpectedly at the worst possible time (such as rush hour traffic on US 19) as happened to me. Engine shut down, steering and brakes lost power assist, and *** nearly a bad scene. The car started right back up and I took it straight to Coopers with the "check engine" light on. After testing the system again, he determined that the new crank position sensor had a manufacturing defect, replaced it at no charge and "Re Cooperized" my beautiful 2003 Chrysler Concorde Limited once again. Most dealers and repair shops would have replaced another $500 to $700 worth of parts and labor and probably charged again for the faulty part replacement. Trust COOPER"S with your vehicles and family safety. I have for many years and will continue to do so. NOW is a great time to have him check out all the things you have been wanting to have checked but keep putting off for one reason or another. An update --Dec 2014 -- Tim Cooper just finished going through a new used vehicle i just purchased to replace the one I used to pull my boat. I am always amazed at how he can find and fix a problem before it becomes a safety issue. Well done again. Just prior to the new used SUV repairs and services, my wifes Cadillac had a real ghost problem in the electrical system that couldnt be found by the onboard computers, probably very few mechanics could have figured it out, but Tim and his lead mechanic got their heads together and saved her beautiful car -- KUDOS AND THANKS AGAIN FOR THE "RE- COOPERATIONS" HONESTY AND TRUSTWORTHINESS ARE SOMEWHAT RARE IN TODAYS MARKET, but rest assured Coopers will take good care of you.

I was charged over 50% more than the original estimate on an upper control arm bushing and alignment. $390.00!!!. Was not contacted for approval or with any information beforehand even though I had asked for it before the work started. I was not given any notice of the overcharge when I called to pick it up, even though I had asked to be contacted if there were any issues. Why the overcharge... "It took longer than we thought".. So I got charged for their mistake. The parts were about $20.00.. Two other mechanics estimated the complete repair at 225.00 and $250.00 as did Coopers, with the alignment included. The only reason I chose Coopers was that they could get to it quicker. To make matters worse, they didnt even refill the brake fluid after the work was done, I got halfway home and the brake light came on, sure enough, very low, I could see the fluid residue all over the frame in area they worked on. I refilled it and not a drop has leaked out so its not any other issue at all..It shouldnt have happened this way. They really dropped the ball on this one. IN response Tim... I was never contacted after your initial diagnosis (Before any work started.) and our one conversation of what I wanted done. No contact was made any time afterward regarding any problems or issues as I had requested in the initial conversation, no messages left, no written estimate given.. The only thing we worried about was breaking a bolt and that didnt happen. Im not sure what part I missed.. I asked about the extra costs when I arrived to pick it up, told it took longer than we thought..that might have been a good time to come out when I inquired about it, at least anticipating there might be an issue with the substantial cost increase over your estimate.. Or was I to come and find you? Im missing the whole "professional" part. as we all know, anytime an estimate is going to be exceeded, especially by a substantial amount like that, not only would it be common courtesy to contact me but its generally considered common business practice.. Maybe thats why you gave no written estimate..I just dont know. You may well be fair and honest but I dont agree with the way you went about this at all. While it may be typical of so many backyard mechanics, I expected more from you. Ive learned my lesson.

I cant tell you how awesome this repair shop is. Arvan begin to have a problem by the Skyway Bridge and we had to take it to a different place who diagnosed it as zero compression on a cylinder and refused to work on it. We werent sure what to do next so I looked up on Google who was a high rated mechanic in our area and found his repair shop. We were worried we were going to have to need an entirely new engine instead Tim studied the problem and could tell us it just needed a spring fixed. Which is great when youve got four kids to take care of you dont have any money for a new motor! Tim and his team managed to fix our van in an afternoon when we had figured it was going to take weeks to have repaired. He was honest, open and fair. He got the van back to us in time for my wife to be able to take it on a trip to Nebraska. She hasnt had any trouble with it since. He has a customer now for good. Ill take all my cars to him. Thanks Tim!

I have been a resident of Pinellas County 35 years, and a customer of Coopers Automotive 12 years. Whether you need emergency repairs in order to get back on the road fast, or regular service/repairs, Tim and his crew will take care of you. Having tried many different automotive service companies, over the years, including dealerships, I have found Coopers to be the best in Pinellas County. Their services and repairs have always been top notch, and the prices reasonable. Earlier this year my daughter with her two dogs, was visiting from out of town. As she was about to depart for her return drive home, a 5 hour drive, the power window on her car got stuck in the down open position. I called Tim, he said “tell her to bring it in we will fix it.” One hour later the problem (electric motor) was fixed, and she was on her way home. Tim and his crew at Coopers Automotive are the best!!!
