Beware. PODS is a deceptive business. I called for the first time to learn about their containers and to see if it would be possible to move our already packed home by loading a container ourselves. I explained to the woman on the phone that we had a 2-bedroom house with a study that had only a desk and a chair. She assured me that their largest container would be appropriate for our move. I got to detail that our stuff was already packed, that we had a 3-seater couch, a king and a single bed, and a couple of shelves about 2 to 3 feet wide. No, we do not have much furniture compared to the average American family because, since our life style requires that we move often, we try living as light as possible. We dont even own a TV set. So, I trusted the PODS woman and hired the container. The container arrived on the date agreed, but I was in shock to see how small it was! I looked at the volume of our already boxed stuff and saw that it was impossible to fit it all inside. Id need at least one more container, maybe 2. Within 30 minutes, I called PODS and requested that they retrieve their container. The 2 customer reps I spoke to that day did not care that I was in despair 2 weeks before we had to move. The first said Id be refunded the monthly fee but that I had to pay for the delivery fee only. Ok, I agreed. However, my credit card was charged all fees, including an extra pick up fee. They came to retrieve the container the next day. Considering that the delivery and pick up fees amount to over 40% of one monthly fee, this is a complete rip off. I was misled into thinking that a container would fit a "4-room home," meaning "2 bedrooms, a living room and a dining room," to quote PODS. This is a straight lie and now Ive found that others fell for the same trick by reading reviews online. Considering we do not own what an average family would own in a 2-bedroom house, it is obvious to me that this is simply deceptive business practice. PODS profited from me only by charging delivery and pick up "fees." The last customer rep I spoke to, was extremely rude by raising his voice over the phone and by making obvious he did not care about the fact that I felt betrayed as a customer. In addition, it is worth noting that PODS makes sure its customers are not able to put their complaints in writing. They have no email address or physical address for a customer or complaints department. I tried to find one everywhere in their website and even called their headquarters, but they say they have none. Quite convenient. A serious business ALWAYS has at least an email address for complaints. Before I saw how PODS is intent in deceiving its customers, I would have considered PODS for small moves, but now I will never go back to this business. The result of it is that weve had to hire a moving company at the last minute on top of paying PODS excessive fees. UPDATE: After rating this business here, at BBB and elsewhere, I was contacted by PODS Customer Advocacy department, this time politely, and was swiftly refunded for the costs incurred. Its too bad that it took me to expose their business online in order to get their attention, but I am glad someone at PODS finally heard me and fixed the problem and, although the headache could have been worse, I wish their customer service were more prepared to deal with this kind of situation and that they did not sell a product with promises they cannot keep. It was still not all perfect on my last communication, as I requested twice that my account be closed and removed from their system, but got no reply. I still would not do business with this company.

Where to begin? They charge a small fortune for the worst service! We paid $3300 for a POD and storage for three months. From the beginning we told them and confirmed several times delivery of our POD on June 16, 2017. We called the other day to confirm delivery and were told they wont be able to deliver it until the 21st which just happens to be the day after we would be charged for ANOTHER month. So now we move into our new home with none of our things, no crib for our child etc. So we tell them to let us have access on June 15th, 16th and 17th and we will move our things from the POD ourselves and there will be no need to deliver. They end up still charging our account $280 delivery fee. We show up this morning to unload our POD and its not there. We spent almost an hour on hold just waiting to speak to someone who tells us the driver is an hour away from Long Beach and to "go get a cup of coffee" while we wait. Her supervisor then gets on the phone and offers us a $25 credit. For what? We arent using you anymore! She confirmed the notes said to give us access those three days starting at 9am. So we drove an hour to get here, to sit for another hour and wait, to unload OURSELVES and drive our things an hour back to our home. Also, this is absolutely not a "secured facility", Its a parking lot with an old warehouse in it. No cameras, no locks, no one there.

We paid for a single POD container while we were stationed in England for three years. Three years we paid and when we asked for it to be delivered and paid the amount of $2,067.40 which we were told would have our POD delivered on Monday, August 22, the following has happened. First, they said for over a week that there was an IT problem since they had switched computer systems January 1st. Second, they began pulling money from our checking account. I have only received a partial refund and we still do not have a POD. On Saturday, we received a bill for $2,639.17 through the mail; the website says we owe 450.00 and we are past due. I also received an email stating that we are past due. Three, I have spent hours trying to get this problem solved via their 800 customer service number and I still do not have my belongings. I may find that an attorney may be the only way to get this company to deliver on their promises. I am tired of the "Im sorry."

Beware doing business with this company. They are quick to take your money and drop off a POD, but after that they wont return your calls if you try to call them. We are moving from Florida to CA and our POD is being delayed 5 days due to them "never receiving" our moth form, which I have now sent four times. Kris McKnight, if you have to deal with him, will not return your calls and is horrible to deal with. We keep getting calls saying we never did this or we never did that, but we never knew we had to do it cause Kris NEVER called us back to help. I work for a large organization in CA and we recruit from out of state all the time, PODS will be last on my list when recommending a moving company. You have lots of options people, I would not recommend this company.
