As a business owner myself I know a business is defined by its honesty and integrity as well as it workers and in my experience overcharging never pays of as well as being dishonest about anything to make a extra buck. In my two hours there I was lied to and over charged $50 for an oil change and the price alone fluctuated three times that I knew of but every time kept getting higher. The smell of marijuana was strong in the air and theres nothing wrong with recreational time so long as it does not come into the work place but they are putting many people at risk not being sober while working on cars in witch we depend on not only to get around but to keep us safe and how safe can they truly be with people like that working on them? I have a family as do most people and their safety is my number one priority so after leaving there I had to go pay another mechanic to make sure everything was right. By being this way and running their business like this they are putting people at risk of either getting hurt or losing their car or even worse a family member if not their own life witch is not worth the risk or being over charged for and lied to. In my personal opinion I will never return here let alone tell anyone I know to go here but the exact opposite and I advise anyone who reads this to find another place if you truly care about your car or money or family at that.

I sincerely wish my review of Tuffys Auto Service could be different since they are only five or six minutes from my home. I decided to discount the many bad reviews I had read and see for myself. I needed an oil change and to have my noisy air conditioner diagnosed. The oil change cost me $70.00! (The service representative explained that the high cost was the result of my request to use synthetic oil.) The mechanics determined that my a/c unit needed a new compressor. That would run $598.00 installed—but I needed to replace it as soon as possible because when the compressor freezes up, "it will take everything else with it." I told him I wanted to get a second opinion. I received that opinion today from a GMC dealer. (My car is a Pontiac.) There is nothing wrong with my compressor. It appears my model car came with a notoriously fragile a/c mounting bracket. The fix is to retro-fit it with a redesigned bracket. The repair will cost $380.00, although the service agent frankly told me that, if I could live with the noise, the repair wasnt really necessary. I told him to fix it. When I entered Tuffys, I hadnt noticed that they had a sign advertising "Free A/C Checks." I wonder how many people who had responded to that offer ended up replacing a perfectly good compressor.

I first brought my truck into this Tuffy for a problem with my brakes. Since I was very happy with the service that time, I just brought my truck back in tonight for an oil change. Much to my dismay, but so glad they did such a complete check, the mechanics looked at my truck and I was informed of several other problems it had. Carlos worked closely with me, showing me and completely explaining what the issues were. Unfortunately for my bank account, I had to have these problems fixed for safety reasons. However, Carlos made the experience not as bad from his friendly attitude and more importantly, his professionalism in taking the time to explain everything to me and work with me. Further, he adjusted my bill as much as he possibly could to give me the best price possible. The mechanics there are superb; no other place I have been in the past has ever checked things out so extensively with just getting an oil change. Not only that, but they all stayed well past closing time just to finish my truck! Now my truck is back in excellent shape and I dont have to worry when I am on the road. I am extremely glad I took my truck there and I will definitely continue to return for future services. I would never go anywhere else!

these mechanics(and i use that term loosely) are a joke. everything i had them do on my car fell apart or went back to the way it was. while i was waiting someone else came in with a repeat problem. which they had just fixed a week earlier! i had them do 3 things - first tighten a loose steering column. they broke the steering lock and said it was like that when i brought it in. the column was loose again 2 months later. the guy did this on the side and didnt write it up. next i had them weld in a whole new exhaust. they didnt weld all the way around the tube, so it leaked, and they didnt use rubber mounts. my entire exhaust was held up buy the headers and two 1/4 inch metal rods welded straight to the floor board. i had this fixed by a real mechanic at another shop before it fell off. and last i had them check a vibration coming from the rear end they said it was the universal joint, and they "fixed" it. the next week i through a bearing cap from the universal because they didnt tighten it enough. dont have any mechanic work done at this place!!! these backyard mechanics can change oil and windshield wipers, but leave the mechanic work to the professionals.

I had a brake caliper freeze up at 4:30 PM on a Saturday evening as I was on a 1500 mile road trip back home. With little options, I called this Tuffy shop. This turned out the be the biggest blessing I could have received! We could have been told to come back on Monday, or taken advantage of with very high pricing, but instead they quickly pulled the wheels for an inspection to find the faulty caliper. They not only stayed open 3 hours later on a Saturday night to get us back on the road, the owner drove his car to pick up our parts from two locations while the mechanic got the van ready. Carlos, the owner, was very fair with pricing to us, went well out of his way to help us, and was very kind to our kids while we were in the waiting area. He even asked his mechanic to give our van a once over to be sure it was safe and all fluids were topped off to get us home safely. This wonderful business can be trusted and does great work. Our family will never forget them! Summary - Fair, helpful, AWESOME. What a blessing! thanks guys!

Unfortunately something has changed at this Tuffy location. I had previously brought my car in for an oil change and a tire rotation. They performed the oil change and notified me there was a cross-threaded bolt on one wheel so they didnt do the rotation, didnt charge me and gave me a discount. I was quite happy. I recently returned for another oil change and there were new employees and Im not sure they are qualified to work on vehicles. I drive a turbo-charged car and they notified me the oil was at least two quarts low. The car takes 5 quarts and it was under 3 they told me. I took the car to the dealer after the oil change to have it tested and they drained OVER 7 quarts of oil from the car. There is no reasonable explanation as to why they wound up overfilling the car so badly, Im lucky it didnt cause any damage. I am currently seeking a refund for their incompetence. I would not visit this shop again considering they cannot perform an oil change correctly.
