A totally pleasant experience. Hubby and I went to Truu Salon today. He got Rachel and I got Leslie. We were both new to this salon. Both our stylists were pleasant, friendly, and good listeners for what we wanted done. Hubby had the Signature Spa, a conditioning/gloss treatment, a cut and style. I had just a conditioning treatment and blow-out. You get a hand massage and relaxation treatment with aromatherapy. The salon itself is nicely laid out, clean, and serene. Lots of products if you want to purchase the Aveda line for your particular type. I got both from the Be Curly (Im a natural curly who rarely blows out hair) and the Smooth (for when I wanna blow it out for an occasion). Hubby got some texturizing creme. And I bought some hand/body wash cause I tried it in the restroom and loved the minty smell and gentleness. I will say that it was a very cheerful and pleasant couple hours. We never felt pressure to buy (but I bought a lot, anyway). We had no hassle with the coupon we used. It was just all nice. Even chatted pleasantly with another client and a male stylist (didnt catch his name). We had a good time strolling downtown Hollywood and shopping some more (At B True Organics and a little Greek goods shop going out of business). Ate at a steakhouse. Great lazy Saturday afternoon of indulgences. Definitely add Truu Salon to your list of salons to try. YOu may find a new hair home...and can enjoy the ambiance and maybe a concert in the circle park after. We headed home before the concert started today, but it was very pretty walking around. And thanks, Leslie, for an enjoyable beautifying time! Thanks, Rachel, for making hubby look even hotter than usual. :) UPDATE: We went back twice more since our first June visit, always a great experience. I had the Signature Hair Spa on August 13, and as of today, August 24, my hair is still wearable. It looked amazing for 8 days, then a little less thereafter (well, normal, right). My sister thinks its gross to have 11 days of not shampooing, but dang, if it looks fine and smells fine, whats the deal. LESLIE did me, and Val did hubby again, and we both look good. I dont know whats in that Signature Spa, but I have uber-curly hair and this with a blow-out gave me frizz-free controlled hair in AUGUST in MIAMI. So, shoot. Im amazed. :D Ill be washing it tomorrow, but thats getting my moneys worth. Hair is supersoft, too. Anyway, still loving this salong. Nice peops and great services and a really relaxing bathroom, fwiw. hah.

A real review... So I usually do not say anything, but it had gone far enough for me to stand up and speak the truth. I found this business listed as 2013 Hollywood, Florida "Best Salon," and it was nothing of the sort. The hair cut was fine, but then again it was just a 90 degree trim all over. For those of you that don’t know, it was just a long layerd cut. However, what I found to be the problem aside from the Linoleum flooring was the ego and the attitudes from everyone there. When I walked in, I was treated as if I did not belong in their 1000 square foot salon. After being seated in the salon chair, I could not help but notice the “head" stylist was making it hard for any of the newer stylist to thrive and learn. She was making it hard for the young man who was cutting my hair even to hold a conversation. You know those moment when someone is intentionally listening to your conversation, and jugging every word you say? Well, the poor guy doing my hair could not catch a brake which made if very hard to connect with anyone in the room. But the worst of all, was the owner. The owner was conceited without reason for it. I don’t know if it was a selling strategy or not, but the owner who was working the front dest practically ask me if I could even afford his hair products like shampoo. Be aware, I could not even use my Chase debit card there. They made me use some “ATM" with wirer hanging all over it just to be able to leave a tip for the stylist. Honestly, I was afraid to run my card. They need to find a new merchant, or they could use an accounting class. My husband and I both are marketing specialist for a travel service. The”Aveda” name is the only thing that this salon has going for them. In oder to be a good salon, you must embody health from the inside, so that beauty emerges. They did nothing of the sort. There egos were way out of touch which made the environment very toxic towards the costumers in the room, and all they knew was how to compete with everyone even among each other.

I called Truu with an idea of what I wanted. They said they could do it. I even came in the day before for a consultation and the stylist insisted she could do it. I trusted the stylist based on reviews. The stylist mentioned that she only had a couple of years of experience. She seemed to be cautious, but to the point of being so overly cautious that I wound up spending over $300 on NOTHING. Afterwards, she was very complimentary about how great my hair looked, but yet we had to step outside in the sun to be able to detect any barely decernable streaking. When I got home, I realized my hair looked exactly the same as before I came in. I asked my sister-in-law, who was a hair stylist for over 20 years, what they SHOULD have done. I called back and made an appointment for a color correction, and two days beforehand, someone from the salon called me to basically give me a round and around argument. They did not agree with what my sister told me, and shortly I realized that they were refusing to honor the color correction promise. So, I quit engaging in her pointless "run around" and ended the call. Unfortunately, I spent a whole lot of money for NOTHING.

I had a very similar experience to Sandra. I went in to get a haircut and my roots touched up. I left with a nice haircut, and ORANGE roots. The stylist blow dried a small section of my hair and asked me what I thought, to which i replied "My hair is orange!" She then toned my roots to "tone down" the color, which helped only slightly. Instead of being bright Orange, it was now just kinda of bright orange. My hair is not dark, its fairly dirty blonde so now excuses that I had very dark hair. She finished my hair and I left. I called a couple of days later to have my color corrected, bc there was a clear definition between my orange roots and the rest of my hair. I went back expecting them to just repair my roots. Their solution to fixing my orange roots was to dye my ENTIRE HEAD PLATINUM BLONDE!!! I went from having very natural dirty blonde highlighted hair to PLATINUM BLONDE! I cant even have it corrected again bc ive had it dyed twice in a week. Now I am stuck with this awful hair color and nothing I can do about it. Haircuts here are fine, but if you get color AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Leslie J made my day! She is absolutely AMAZING! A TRUU JEWEL!!!!! She was super fast putting doing my partial - which is great because some foils didnt sit on longer than others. After I was foiled, she offered me a beverage and massaged my hands. Before I knew it, it was time to wash. I had to contain my moaning - MAGIC HANDS. She took her time and massaged my head and temples. Then, it was hair cut time! She LISTENS. She is not scissor crazy. She gave me a healthy trim and then dried my hair straight. Finally, she changed my look and gave me sexy bangs - something I have never had before. When she was done I got to see the masterpiece - oh my goodness!!! The highlights were absolutely gorgeous - so natural and just the color I wanted. My hair is healthy and gorgeous! AND THEN.... she topped it off with a little lip gloss. LESLIE was all about PAMPERING ME. She took such good care of me and my hair. If you want a stylist who is values her clients, who is all about making them feel good and happy- you must go to LESLIE.
