CLEAN, SAFE, FUN-- I have been taking my son to MyGym in Mandarin on San Jose since he was nine months old and we both love it. We explored several baby-learning venues – we visited music classes, mommy-and-me groups, and a few childrens gym franchises – but MyGym stood out head-and-shoulders above the rest. It seemed to “have it all”, offering the perfect combination of physical activities, social interactions and structured learning (songs, stories, dances, etc.). Parents take their little ones here to participate in an hour worth of exercise and activities with children in their age range while trained coaches facilitate games and activities. The play area is spacious and is designed with your kids’ fun and more importantly, safety in mind. The staff rearranges the space each week so it’s always a different experience. During each class there are special activities designed to encourage your childs balance and strength. In the past four months we’ve been attending they haven’t repeated any activity/song/dance/puppet show. My son loves exploring the play area and equipment, including the trapeze bars, swinging ropes, spring boards, slides , wedge mats, rock climbing wall, trampoline, ball pit, swings, basketball hoop, gymnastic mats, parallel bars, zip line, and more. We found that besides the exercise benefits (and the fact that he has takes a really long nap afterward – yippee!), it is also aiding in the development of his social and cognitive skills. I love the social interaction my son gets as much as the physical activity. He gets to engage with other children his age and learn important skills such as sharing. It’s great for me too, a work-from-home mom who has very limited adult interaction time. I enjoy chatting with the other moms who are experiencing the same challenges that I am (sleep schedules, nursing, etc.). The coaches are awesome with kids; every time we go in they are so enthusiastic, caring and professional. Coaches Jordan, Kayla and John in particular are outstanding and fabulous with kids! Just like an adult gym, participation requires a monthly membership fee (which is very reasonable in my opinion) that guarantees you one structured session a week with various “free-play” options. I took my son to one “free-play” and will not attend another one. The “free-play” is open to all age ranges and the night we went there were lots of older children running around out of control– literally running – and not watching out for a toddling who is learning to walk. We left after about 15 minutes because I was afraid he was going to get trampled, knocked over or hit in the face with a fast flying ball. That aside, we love MyGym and feel so fortunate we found this place!

We were invited to MyGym for a "trial session" for my youngest daughter, age 20 months. Out of necessity, I brought my 5 year old daughter with me. My oldest was told by the staff that she could play for a bit, but that older kids had to go up front and color or something while the structured activities (circle time, etc...) were going on. She did this. After circle time, my oldest came out and was with me and my 20 month old (pushing the little one on the swing). A Mygym staff came over and told her that older kids couldnt be on the floor. I usually would just say "ok", but Id noticed that there was another older sibling that had been out there with her mom and brother the entire time, and no one had said anything to them whatsoever. So I asked "why does my daughter have to go up there by herself and not this other girl"? The response was basically "uh, because, uh, shes, uh, helping her mom". Whatever. I could understand if my kid was playing on the stuff or whatever, but she was literally standing next to me the entire time. If youre going to have a "no older siblings" rule in place, then you need to enforce it across the board and not selectively. As for the activities, my youngest daughter didnt seem to enjoy it, so I cant give that much of a good review either. She liked the slide, but I can find a slide that isnt going to cost me $60 a month almost anywhere else.

We found this place when our daughter was invited to a birthday party a couple years ago. I never imagined places like this even existed. The staff was so energetic and friendly. They included all of the children in all of the activities and made sure they all had a blast. A few weeks later we were invited to a free class at the gym. When we arrived the staff introduced us to everyone and made us feel right at home. They explained the purpose of all of the activities and our daughter Claire took to them right away. I dont think weve missed a class in 2 years. We have so much fun going to our classes every week. It has even become a bonding time for her and daddy. We just went to their Halloween party a couple weeks ago and Claire is still asking if she can tie balloons in her hair like coach Jordan. We really appreciate how all of the staff seem to love what they do. Every time we come in everyone is always cheerful and makes sure to say hello. The place is so clean too! It seems like whenever there arent classes going on they are sanitizing or cleaning something. The culture here is amazing! They are all such wonderful people! If you havent been there you have to see it for yourself.

I wish I could give negative stars. See other bad review and heed the warnings! Owner is rude and unprofessional. I had a bad incident there that made me really uncomfortable. (Child with hacking cough in gym). I asked to take my child out of the class because the child in there was sick. No one said anything. I left message on voicemail and got a call back 4 days later. Anyway ,owner says the child had allergies but has not proof and no note. I wanted a refund and he would not oblige even after corporate said he is able to do so. Regardless, I am not comfortable with how this was handled and the way I was treated but all he wants is to adhere to his contract so he can get another $68 dollars because all he cares about is taking your money. It is just not right. If anything if the staff new the kind had allergies they should have been able to tell me that the same day I was there. I wish I had gone with my gut when I read the other bad reviews. BEWARE DO NOT GO!

Short version: Billing is terrible. Staff doesnt care about you. They will squeeze you for every penny they can. The owner is a slimy salesman. The owner was pushy when we were on the fence about signing our son up. We asked when our contract was ending and they told us mid May. Then after I said I would like to cancel the contract and told me my contract ended at the beginning of May so I owe them for the whole month. Then I had to give them written notice of my cancellation 30 days before payment would end. Then they bill me for the full month of June even though I gave 30 days notice May 7th. I was told the owner would call me about my issue and over a week later he never did. They love to use the phrase "well the contract states that..." I know part of this is my fault too but they were completely unwilling to accept any responsibility for their staffs mistakes or help rectify the situation.
