Ive always had good a good experience with SmartStyle Salons with trims, but the Beach Blvd., Jacksonville location has really disappointed me with the quality of the color and cut services Ive received. The women that work there are always very nice and patient but there always seems to be a communication issue. First I wanted just a sprig of my hair cut to be bangs, but after evaluating the way my hair parts it wouldnt work, so I asked for just a slightly larger bang. She began sectioning my hair off to my ear for bangs and said thats where they should be cut... Thats 1/4 of the hair on my head. NO! Then I asked for a very natural highlight and showed her pictures of girls with sun kissed hair with light, skinny, subtle highlights on the underside of the hair peeking through and informed her I dont like the look of highlight streaks- only very natural. She highlighted chunks in straight blonde lines from my part down which looked dingy and grown out in a short period of time. Next time I went I got a different stylist. I asked for an all over color and based on the picture I showed her she recommended a one shade lighter all over color and two shade lighter highlight. When she finished the service I had orange blonde hair. When I asked about the color she told me she dyed my hair "two shades lighter like [I] asked for and wasnt sure if [she] shouldve used a toner so [she] didnt." I didnt ask for my hair to be two shades lighter I told her I wanted it to look like the picture and was willing to follow her recommendation, which was the agreed one shade lighter with highlights- not two shades lighter. If she would have asked if I needed a toner I could have told her I did, and if you werent sure if a client needed a toner or not wouldnt you add one anyways to make sure the outcome was best? She began blow drying my hair immediately to make sure the color was okay before I left, but charged me $15 for a style- which I was not informed of and only received a short blow dry. I returned today at 6:58 p.m. and saw a new face and was immediately excited. I asked for an all over color service to return my hair brown. She said per policy they refuse those services after 7 and to come back the next day. I understand not wanting to be working after closing time, or have your store open after closing, but turning customers away 2 hours before closing when the salon is completely empty is foreign to me. But, then again, they turn customers away constantly because they only schedule one employee at a time. Thoroughly disappointed and dont plan on returning for any styles or color services because there is a major client- stylist communication issue here and theyre always understaffed.

I am extremely grateful and will definitely come to you from now on! I wish I could upload a before and after! Yesterday I swore I would never come back to this salon, but I take that back! You saved my wedding event and my graduation! Thank you a million times <3

Usually fast service with short wait times but frequent staff turnover makes it impossible to keep the same stylist for any length of time.
