{[Updated Jan 1st 2016] As a member I really like most things about my membership with Equinox. Except the fact that they now have now two different classes of members. Over 18 months ago Equinox released an iPhone App, one which did pretty much nothing new, but it was a step in right direction. At that time many of their members expressed a little disappointment that the Android App was not released, but they were assured by Equinox, it was under development. Over the following 18 months the iPhone App had many new features added to it, so much so that all staff were now telling members during classes just what info they could get and how easy it was to use. I kept reminding those staff, that this was fine for iPhone users but what about Android. As all staff obviously had iPhones they didnt understand that they were blocking out at least 40% of their members. Their website and marketing continually rants and raves about how the app makes life better and more convenient for their members. So I kept enquiring about Android App, coming soon they would say. Your IT department and I presume your marketing department, are obviously clueless as to how this makes people who prefer Android which is probably around 40+% of your members (as Android has a slightly larger market share in USA than iPhone) and worldwide a much larger market share of installed users. To make matters worse, they rubbed salt into our wounds and also market the Apple Watch Application. How their marketing/ IT department thought this would be a better allocation of resources than simply porting their APP to Android is beyond my comprehension, as less than 1% of your members would most likely have this. Dont be mistaken that people who have Android are budget conscious, as my phone is more expensive than any iPhone and has arguably has more capabilities when it comes to conducting business. Now the iPhone App allows you to easily sign in, get feedback and stats data on your workouts - which is pretty cool - if you own an iPhone, if you dont , everything is worse. Signing in is a pain as you have to wait at desk for someone to manually sign you in. I had had enough and asked to speak to manager, who was very nice. I wanted to know a direct truth about Android App and whether it was in development and exactly when it was released. I found out that it was never in development and they do not know if it will be developed. At least the truth. So my memberships (2 of them) were coming up for renewal on January the 1st. soon and as I am a second class member, and had been lied to I decided, even though I like the place, to not renew and I joined another gym. This is only a $3500 annual loss to them, but I am sure many more will have done this. It may seem small, but being lied to continually and then having nonsense apps like the Apple Watch App come out - was the last straw. The difference between not having an iPhone has grown and grown and created 2 distinct classes of memberships. Memberships do not reflect this. All in all, people are friendly, classes are good, but make sure you get any questions you have not covered in their policy in writing.

Theyll give you good care when signing in and the nightmare when trying to leave. I wouldnt recommend their free trial of Personal Training unless you have a set plan of having a personal trainer with them because they will kinda force you to try their free trial after that the personal trainer will make you feel really uncomfortable if you tell them that you dont want to get a personal training package with them. He asked me why i dont want to join, i said its a bit pricey and I dont have a set plan of coming to gym all the time because i had school, and than he goes around starts asking about my school schedule, asking if I have money in my bank accounts and trying to insult me by saying you are in Miami and you dont have ....$ amount of money on you?? and telling me if I can have my father pay it since I said its pricey! lol Goes on and on and on.... I dont hate it because hate is a killer.

Love this gym. Great, clean professional vibe. The equipment and amenities are always spotless and well maintained. As a previous collegiate rower, I am pretty picky when it comes to knowledgable trainers. I am super impressed with Danielle Dams knowledge and abilities. As a tier 3+ trainer she also gives me nutritional guidance. She has truly helped me optimized my training experience and has showed me an entirely new level of results than I have ever experienced. I couldnt be happier! Well worth it, and highly recommended for anyone who is in a tight schedule and looking for the most efficient results.

This is a nice little Equinox located in the heart of South Beach. While not the biggest or newest Equinox I have visited on my travels they were by far the friendliest. Generally the memberships are local and you have to pay a semi-outrageous fee of $35 to visit as a guest even when you are already a member. The people running the check in counter were so friendly they waived me through and told me not to worry about it. If you have been to the location in the Back Bay of Boston the layout and look is extremely similar. You wont be disappointed with this gym.

Brittany Arlington is an awesome personal trainer she goes beyond her tier training qualifications and her goal is to give you precision results, very motivating too, professional, always on time and is really accommodating to my busy 10 hour work shift 6 days a week. Equinox in itself offers great group classes and the studio cycling always good energy music and tracks calories. Thank you membership advisor @ equinox Richard A Ryles for the good reccomendation

This place is more of a sex club than a health club. Stay away from the mens locker room unless you want to be regularly accosted by men who clearly use the steam room more than the gym. The staff know about it. Some of them even participate. Aside from these issues, its way overpriced -- Ive been to LA Fitness gyms in the area that are nicer, less crowded, have more equipment, and cost a fraction of what you will pay for this gym.

We are members in NYC and decided to try equinox Miami whilst on our holiday. The people were great, both clientele and staff were very friendly. Great shakes in the cafe and a really good 360 yoga class. We left feeling good from the class and the workout as well as the atmosphere set by the staff. Thanks staff and well done. Im glad I opted for the the membership that allows me to use the gym anywhere in the US.

I was given a complimentary one-day pass for the SB location and was turned away by an employee (Vivian) due to the fact I may or may not watch to join. Isnt it her job to at least try to convince me? Rather than flat out turn me away. If you say something is complimentary only after you purchase a membership. Its not really complimentary. Thank you South Beach Equinox for living up to your douchbag reputation.

The classes here are great. If you like Zumba-like classes, SkyBeat and Mitana are AMAZING. The teachers are inspiring and the people in the classes are very friendly. I travel a lot and have tried lots of gyms but Ive never been to classes where I felt so welcome. Now Im a regular!
