Im so saddened to write this review. I went to The Color Bar to get my hair colored and I wore a dress that Id worn to work from that morning. Its a comfortable, loose dress Id paid $138 for. My hair stylist, though very sweet, came late to our appointment and the process for dyeing my hair took a total of five hours — two hours longer than what the receptionist had said would take. When I got home, I noticed that there was bleach all over the back of my dress. It was ruined and I couldnt possibly wear the dress again. When I spoke to Nadia, the manager, she said, "one shouldnt wear a nice dress to a hair salon, that accidents happen, especially when they work with chemicals. This has never happened here before. I have to review our policies. I dont know what to say." I asked if would be possible if they could cover the cost of replacing the dress. I offered to bring in the ruined dress so they can see the damage for themselves, along with the the receipt of the dress so they could see how much I paid for it and how much it currently costs. She told me that "we are not going to pay for your dress, I can tell you that much. Accidents happen." I then asked if shed be willing to cover half of the cost. She said no. She then offered a complimentary service. Given that my clothing had been ruined and my hair had just been done, this didnt sound fair to me. I felt taken advantage of and that she was doing the "easy" thing and not the RIGHT thing. As a business owner that also provides a service, Ive made mistakes. That is normal, accidents DO happen. However, its how you treat and rectify the mistake youve made that matters the most. Its what will make a business stand out among the crowd. Great customer service prompts loyalty and a good reputation. Part of creating a professional and customer friendly environment is taking care of the people who are paying for a professional service when they walk through your doors. If youve made a mistake, own up to it and do the right thing. Replace what you ruined. When Nadia said that I shouldnt, "wear a nice dress to a salon", that sounded bizarre to me. I have many friends and see many people who wear nice clothing in a salon - not ragged old clothes because the expectation is that they will get ruined in a professional salon. I cant imagine any hair stylist is trained to let bleach drip over the backs of their clients. After all, Im paying and expecting for a professional. Needless to say, I dont recommend this salon. I would have loved to write the opposite.

By far, the worst and most unprofessional experience I have had at any salon. I called trying to fix my hair to the right platinum blonde shade I want instead of a brassy gold tone. The girl had me come in four hours before my appointment to have a consultation with Nadia, the manager or whatever she is, before she did my hair later. After looking at my hair, she told me she would like to spend more time and do it the next day. So when I came back, some other girl was scheduled to do my hair and Nadia was with someone else. This was the first unprofessional thing I noticed. The stylist fefe or firoella was very inexperienced and was on phone and not paying attention when I talked with her. She decided to slop hi-lift all over my hair sloppily and got it all over herself. Then, when it was time to rinse. Nadia told her she missed the whole front roots. After having to sit more now, then I heard her conversing in the back about her bad job. In the end, I was charged 135 plus a 20 tip. I know I was way overcharged for just a color. A color should be 50-60. If she would have done full highlights like she was supposed to, I would understand. A day later Nadia calls to tell me the stylist didn’t do a good job and would fix it. She even told me the stylist lied and said I said it was done before by box color. I have never touched my hair myself and have always gone to a salon! She said she would call me back and it would be free and never did. When I finally found her number, I texted her asking when I could come in and when I could talk with her because my hair faded within one wash. She begins her response with “oh girlfriend” and that it had been two weeks and the stylist had said she told me it would take more than one dye. I had already told Nadia that when I first spoke to her on the phone and she still said she would honor the fix. She basically said it’s my fault for not calling her when she said she would call me back and I had lost her number. It is very unprofessional not calling back and not honoring what you said you fix. I will never be coming back or recommending this unprofessional salon to anyone. I paid $155 for it to look the same and be rushed out. I have always spent 5-8 hours in a salon minimum for a color. She had me out in an hour and half. Definitely not color experts as they say they are.

Now called The Color Bar Salon not Headlines Salon. I was recommended to the Color Bar Salon by a friend. I was in a wedding and the woman who was suppose to do my hair cancelled last minute. I called Phyllis on my friends recommendation and she said she would try and find someone to help me. She called me back an hour later saying she found someone, Jo Beth, to do my hair the next morning. I was so happy. She told me to wash my hair before I came in. When I arrived Jo Beth did a quick straightening and the proceeded to curl my hair with a straightening iron. I was trying to figure out what she was doing. She braided my bangs back and pinned them which looked nice. But the curls were not tight. I asked her to fix it. She went back over that area. I had my glasses off so I couldnt see how it looked. Then she pinned all the curls back and said to take the clips out when I got to the venue so the curls would stay better. With my hair pulled back I couldnt tell what it looked like. I walked to the front to pay and was shocked when she told me the cost for curling my hair with a straightening iron was going to be $80. She didnt wash my hair or anything. Just added a few curls. I didnt ask the cost when I got there because the website said curls was $25. I paid the money and left because I needed to make my nail appointment and get to the venue. When I got to the venue about an hour and a half after I left the salon. I took my hair down and it was awful. There were no curls. It was barely wavy. It looked like my hair was teased after I straightened it and curled from the humidity. It was a mess. I was crying, the bride was upset. Luckily the woman who was doing the brides hair had time at the end to redo my hair. I had to pay another $50 to get it fixed but at least it looked amazing. I would never go to the Color Bar again. Nor would I recommend them. They almost ruined my best friends wedding and took advantage of my need to find someone last minute by charging an obscene amount for awful quality. Do not go here.
