I have a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis that my check engine light would keep coming on. The shop I used to take my cars to would tell me it was something different every time. $250 sensor one day. $175 valve here. He just kept saying this should take care of it. The light would stay off for about a day or two and come back on. When I would come back with the light on again he would tell me... "DONT WORRY ABOUT IT"!!??? What do you mean dont worry about it. If the light is on there is something wrong. I was recommended to Tuffy in Pensacola by a co-worker. She said she has been going there for years and they would be able to take care of it. I brought my car to them and explained the issues I was having. The person who greeted me, Brian (the assistant manager) was very friendly and explained to me they will pull my car in and diagnose exactly what the problem is, and then they would bring me out to my car and show me, once they find the problem is. I told him I hope so. About 15 minutes later Jimmie (the store manager) brought me out to my car to show me that the problem all along was a little vacuum hose had broken. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!! All of my problems all along after spending over $500 was a little $10 fix. I really appreciated the honesty and the professionalism in the way they treated me. I will recommend Tuffy to everyone I know. On another note, the customer lounge and restroom was cleaner than any shop I have ever been to. Not to mention a free drink and cookies added a nice touch. Thank you again, to everyone at Tuffy in Pensacola. Finally someone who can fix my car without giving me the run around!!!

Only Place I will take my car!!! My husband is a mechanic and was out of town. My car began to overheat, so I called him to see where I should take my car. He told me to just go to Tuffy. Im very pleased with the results. The mechanic was SO super nice as well as the office staff. After looking at my car, they took me and showed me the problem with it. I explained to them that I would have to call my husband since he is a mechanic and talk to him before I could do the repairs. They took no offense to this and the mechanic actually spoke with my husband on the phone. He also took pictures with his personal cell phone to send to my husband to show that the water pump was the issue. Thats going beyond my expectations. Never once did they make me feel like less of a person just because I was female, like other automotive places have. I now know I have a place that myself and husband trust to take care of me, when hes not at home. THANK YOU TUFFY FOR BEING PROFESSIONAL AND GOING BEYOND!!!!

Went in for an oil change and brake work. I had to get new rotors and pads on the front (I expected this). Upon leaving I realized I still had a brake issue (minor pedal vibrations). I called back and Mike was very accommodating. I took my car back in and they inspected it immediately (they were about to close). The head mechanic took my car for a test drive and ended up diagnosing an issue with the rear drums. They told me to bring it back in the morning and they would fix it. long story short, they ended up fixing them for free since I just had work done. Since my car was back in the shop I had them do some other work I was putting off...They ended up discounting that as well. I will definitely be bringing my car hear for work from now on! TLDR: Very nice staff, honest, worked with a poor college students budget.

Worst mechanic I have ever been to. First, the price they tried to charge me was double the quote over the phone. Then they didnt have a part I needed so they said that they ordered it and it would arrive in the morning. The part "didnt arrive" the next day and I was told to wait another 2 days before it could be finished. I was furious and wanted answers and they couldnt give them to me. Tuffy is very unprofessional and I wouldnt be surprised if something broke on my vehicle very soon. DO NOT go to this mechanic; they will rip u off and dont believe anything they say. Will never suggest tuffy to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I wouldnt even trust them to inflate my tires. If someone reads this and still goes to tuffy then he or she is a moron and will regret every second their car is in that shop.

CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT. Great place with friendly and honest people. Firestone and Mr. Transmission have both referred me to them for different jobs. Their prices are fair. I paid more for parts than I did for labor, doesnt happen much. They worked with my Pontiac for 9 days trying to figure out a problem, rather than must replacing everything. Saved me about $1000 of work and parts. Yes, the time sucked, but it showed dedication and they offer a loan-a-car to help you out at no extra charge. Brian, Mike, and Vance are hard workers and really care about helping you out as much as possible. The only thing that I did not like was a lack of initial communication. You need to call for updates or ask them specifically to contact you but after that everything is good to go. I will definitely be back.

Beware! I suggested that my son (a student at UWF) visit here to have an alternator replaced. I checked around for alternator cost - around $140 for a 99 Camry. My son went to this Tuffy and they charged him $268 for the same alternator we could have picked up anywhere - a total bill of $450 for a $140 alternator and an hour of labor. Highway robbery! When I called to complain to the manager he argued that they were a retail store and that any price I may have found was irrelevant. I told the manager that he represented the reason why mechanics have such a bad name. He didntt care. I am a mechanic in Central FL and that job would have cost any customer of mine between $220 and $240. Beware!

Mike is awesome! He explained my options to me honestly and without trying to push anything on me that I did not really need. When I left, he instructed the young man at the front desk not to charge me for the diagnostic (I didnt end up having any work done) because he couldnt be exactly sure what was causing the cars problem (it wasnt doing the weird stuff when it was there so all he had to go on was my description). He said "I wont make you pay for an educated guess - we dont do that here." Ill be back for any services I need in the future.

I have been to 5 shops in Pensacola before being blessed enough to find this gem last year. The owner, Brian, is always honest and helpful. This shop employees some of the smartest mechanics Ive ever encountered, and theyre also very polite and always want to explain things in an understandable way. I have take 4 vehicles into this shop over 2 years now, and I will not go anywhere else with my business! If you want a mechanic shop that is honest, fair, intelligent, punctual, and affordable definitely go to Tuffy on university parkway!
