Absolutely AWFUL experience. Made an appointment because our AC unit was not efficiently cooling two of our rooms (every other room was fine, we just wanted our unit to be a little more efficient) and Tim came out to diagnose the problem. He quoted us $411 and said a few minor things needed to be replaced and a part needed to be ordered. We were fine with that and eagerly anticipated him coming back to fix it once the part came in. Mysteriously after he left, our AC unit iced over so we had to shut it off for hours in the middle of a very hot day to get it to defrost, making it 90 degrees in our house so we asked someone to come look at it and make sure nothing else was wrong. Our unit had literally never iced over in the 2 years weve owned our house. Jennifer answer the phone and was absolutely awful and rude. The customer service industry is not the place for her, though Sabrina was much nicer. Rocco then came out to look at it, who was VERY kind (thank you, Rocco, we appreciate you) but his boss, Bud, told him not to work on our unit because it’s “mismatched” and proceeded to tell Rocco that Lindstrom would not do ANY repairs here at all and refused to let him work on it. They then tried to sell us a $7,000 new system and said that was the “only option.” “We can put a new unit in for you or we aren’t going to help you” were their exact words. …So Bud refused to stand by what Tim told us, refused to let either Tim or Rocco fix our issue when we had been told he was coming the next day to fix it once the part came in (so we waited for days for this part and then they refused to even install it) and left us with a situation that was worse than before we called…but they were MORE THAN WILLING to try to charge us $7,000 to replace the whole thing. It was a complete nightmare and a massive waste of time. Rocco is wonderful and should go work somewhere else. There’s a major communication issue with this company that has nothing to do with him as he was great. The right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing and they don’t stand by what their technicians say. Bud was terribly rude to his staff and his customers. We believed we were waiting on a part and then it would be good as new only to be told "Oh never mind, were now not going to help you AT ALL after we did something to make your air conditioner worse." If you have a policy that you don’t work on “mismatched units” (I’ve since confirmed with THREE other HVAC experts that our units are not even mismatched and do not need to be replaced, so Lindstrom was just trying to scam us out of thousands of dollars - additionally “mismatched” units are common and not a big deal if you know what you’re doing) you need to communicate that to your staff and perhaps tell customers ahead of time. Dont tell us youre going to fix it, make it worse, and then refuse to even work on it. Huge disaster. If anyone replies, we don’t want to speak with Bud or Jennifer ever again as they were both rude so don’t have either of them contact us for any reason. We do plan to let everyone know about how this company tried to convince us to replace our entire system for what ended up being a minor issue.

When Lindstrom installed my Trane 4 ton system in 2007, I was very complimentary of their service. Over the next 10 years I experienced a gradual decline in both their service and the skill level of their technicians. For the entire 10 year period, I paid for a twice a year system maintenance. I believe the price was $189 per year. Most of the maintenance work was sub par at best. In and out as fast as possible. In several cases, I had to call to have the technician come back to clean or fix something that should have been handled during the maintenance check. After several years, I would end up cleaning the air filtration system myself because it was obvious that the technician had not cleaned it (which is part of the maintenance). The other issue is that Lindstrom will not call you at 6 month intervals to schedule the semi-annual check-ups. Unlike all my other home service contracts, they leave it up to the homeowner to call. When I asked several years ago why they do not call to arrange an appointment for their service, I was told they are too busy and it is the homeowners responsibility??? During the course of 10 years I missed several maintenance services since keeping track of service schedules should not be my priority, but should be the service providers priority. The most recent service deviation came this past month when our A/C started blowing "cool" air. The July temperatures reached 88 degrees in our home. I called Lindstrom and a technician came out and said the air handler coil had frozen up. He said to let it thaw out and he would be back later in the day to diagnose the problem and charged us $89 (for a 10 minute service call). He never came back and at 9:30 pm another technician showed up to diagnose the problem. He checked the pressure on the outside A/C unit and said it was leaking R-22 Freon. He said that a pound of Freon would cost $125 and that the unit would require several pounds amounting to several hundreds of dollars. He recommended that he set up an appointment for an estimate on a new system for the next day. A Lindstrom sales person came the next day and quoted us $8,000 for a new system. During that same day, I was explaining our situation to our next door neighbor and he suggested getting a second opinion from his A/C company. His company came our the same day and pressure tested the R-22 lines. The technician said the R-22 was 2 pounds low and that it would cost $90 to top it off. He also explained that the low R-22 is what caused the inside coils to freeze up. He added the Freon and the A/C immediately started blowing 52 degree cold air! It has now been 2 weeks and we are still blowing cold air! 3 Lindstrom "professionals" came to our house and not one suggested topping off the R-22 to see if their really was a leak?? All they wanted to do was sell a new system for $8,000. A very sad commentary on a 10 year relationship!

I switched over to Lindstrom after being w/a major competitor of theirs for a decade or more when they attempted to charge me for something I felt should have been covered. A lousy attempted charge for about $65.00 if I recall. I complained to all and ultimately the owner who did nothing. That terminated the relationship and I switched over to Lindstrom A/C & Plumbing. Well over $10k later, I am still w/Lindstrom and very happy. Sad my original company was so short sighted-$65.00 for over $10k?? Lindstrom is not the cheapest. When you go with the cheapest, you are going to get cheap everything. I would rather spend a few bucks more and have annual A/C & Plumbing contracts w/Lindstrom and know that everything is squared away and fully operational. They contact you when you are due for a maintenance check. The A/C system they sold me was a variable speed Carrier unit w/ a dehumidifier component. A 4 ton system that cut my FPL bill by 35 to 45%! Even w/ a pool heater. They came out last month at my request as about 3 years ago I had them replace the outside hose spickets. I discovered one was not shutting off completely. The hose had a solid sprayer and no water was leaking but I thought it best to have the picket fixed so I would know the water was truly off. They sent out a plumbing tech who confirmed my suspicion and replaced the spicket at $0.00 charge. They have to replace a small piece of pipe and solder it to seal the connection. Then a few days ago my plumbing maintenance postcard arrived and I called and they had a tech out the next day to check all my various plumbing fixtures/connections. Lindstrom had replaced my toilets a few years ago w/ nice tall ones that use about 1.6 gallons per flush-my water bill decreased about 15% ever since. The tech noted my water heater was right at the 10 year mark and mentioned this new law effective 8/1/15 having to do w/ 50 gallon water heaters and would I want to consider replacing it now before the current 50 gallon water heaters are gone; I agreed as I saw the damage caused caused by a 12 year old regular water heater and it was a huge mess, clean-up, repair for them- to me, it was worth the expense. They arrived the next day w/the new 50 gallon water heater and changed the spicket coming out of the wall up by the water heater to a ball valve.New metal connection hoses and everything back in its place. Lindstrom sends you an email the day before your tech arrives. The email contains his name, picture, last date they ran a background check and a phone number if you are unhappy. Lindstrom has served me well these past 15 years or so and I cannot recommend them HIGHLY enough as your go to company for anything A/C, plumbing or reverse osmosis water related. (once you have a r/o [reverse osmosis] system you NEVER drink tap water again. No more ruined tea kettles either!!) And they will respond immediately to your needs. The best...bar none.
