First Ray C. came and tried to get my main sewer line unclogged with a snake. He went beyond just that and showed me exactly where the clog was with a camera. This first service was done for zero dollars. Yes. Zero. The reason there was no charge was because the blockage couldnt be cleared by the snake, and he offered me the hydrojet service. Having already been quoted a slightly lower price by a more local competitor, I figured these Roto-Rooter guys are the experts. Ray C.s conduct, expertise, and willingness to go that extra step with the camera and SHOW me where the problem was bolstered my decision to spend a few extra bucks and go with Roto-Rooter for the hydrojet service. This is where Ed S. came in. Ray and Ed came back to my residence later on in the afternoon and very quickly cleared the clog. Afterwards, despite my dogs best efforts to distract, Ray carefully walked me on down my now clean sewer line to show me the real causes of my problem. My house is old. My main is terra cotta. Thus, its cracked in one place with pieces broken in others, and a peppering of roots thrown in just for good measure. Ray was VERY helpful in showing me exactly what those problem features looked like and described why they were problems. I spend only 10% more than the local guy (who was also very helpful in his first visit), but I feel it was worth it. I was treated with respect and the gents were very friendly and helpful. I was taught a bit about what a sewer drain SHOULD be in addition to the clog being fixed. They made it very clear to me that this is only temporary and that the line will likely need repaired before, during, and after I spent the money. My expectations were met and exceeded by the professionalism of these guys. The price was competitive...even better than just that considering the education I received. Id recommend Roto-Rooter and in particular these two guys without hesitation!

I dont know which roto-rooter location came out to my service call. I am very unhappy and will tell everyone. I needed a water heater. We have no hot water at all. And still dont even after they finally got here. I called and setup a service call at 4:30pm today. They said they couldnt make it out till between 7-10pm. I said that was fine. They told me to go buy the water heater since the stores could be closed by time they got here. I did. I also bought a universal water heater installation kit. The dispatch center called me 3 times to say they were running behind. They finally arrived at 11:45pm, and I stayed up waiting for them even though I had to get up at 4am for work. A single technician shows up. He tells me first the call would be $700.00 if I bought the parts or not. Then he tells me that he cant use the parts I did buy and of course at 11:45pm the stores are closed so he cant get the parts he does need. Why did they tell me to buy the parts in the first place if they couldnt use them? And why did they string me along for 7 hours? Why couldnt they just either tell me the right parts I needed to of bought, or tell me they didnt want to do the job at 4:30pm when I could still call someone else, not at 11:45pm when it was too late to try and setup an appointment with another company. I will NEVER CALL Roto-Rooter again FOR ANYTHING EVER. One big rip-off. I called the dispatch number back to complain after I threw the tech out of my house and she hung up on me. NEVER AS LONG AS I LIVE WILL I USE THIS SERVICE FOR ANYTHING.

Everything about this process was easy. I had my kitchen sink stop up the day before I was supposed to be having guests. I tried plunging, snaking, and using Drano, but the drain wouldnt open up. I went online last night to book an appointment for this morning. The process was efficient, and within an hour or so I had a confirmation of my appointment. In the morning, as they said they would, they called to let me know someone was on the way and would arrive in 30 minutes or so--which he did. Ozie was great--he explained everything to me very clearly but talked to me like I am a reasonably intelligent adult (not always the experience I have had with workmen in my house), answered all my questions, and was very clear about what kind of problem I was dealing with. (I also got to see him training a new person, and hes a very good teacher.) Once theyd cleared the clog, they checked and double-checked to make sure that the line was clear and that there was no leaking in the pipes theyd dissembled. And then then cleaned everything up! The process was transparent and straightforward. I knew the price before they got started, and there were no surprises. Its not cheap--I paid $275 with a coupon (its worth checking Roto-Rooters site for those)--but Im willing to pay out a bit for good, reliable, professional service. Im hoping this doesnt happen again for a very long time, but if it does, Ill be calling Roto-Rooter and asking for Ozie again.

Mike Hallo
Problem - I had my upstairs toilet and bathtub backing up into my downstairs bathroom - YUCK! I have a home warranty, however after having the first tech come out (not through roto rooter) he left my downstairs a mess, pulled out one root, and was said "itll be 500$ to pull the toilet and go down through to get the clog out". I called roto-rooter for a 2nd opinion. The tech was at my house within 3 hours (Bill), and offered to do it that night (9pm). I said no it was too late, and he came back that saturday (11/24). Bill unclogged everything, charged me around 400$ which was cheaper than the other guys, and did a great job, and cleaned up after himself, unlike the other guy. Go forward 2 weeks (last night) and we find some water that had come up through the downstairs, well, call roto rooter again, they sent out another tech (Dustin) who cleared the remainder of the clog for us. He did this for no charge because I was still under warranty, and he also went outside to try and help me locate my cleanout (although it was 8;30 pm and we couldnt find it). Both plumbers were very friendly and professional. I cant emphasize how good customer service like this is hard to find, especially from a bigger company like Roto Rooter. Sometimes they grow too big too fast and forget they work for us, not in this case. I would recommend their services to anyone.

There were not a lot of options late Sunday to call for a backed up drain in the basement. One that caused some minor flooding. The plumber who was sent to my house was EXCELLENT ! There is no other way to describe this guy. Discussed options, explained things to me, and of course solve the primary problem. If I was forced to call Roto-Rooter again--I will request this specific plumber. However, there is a down side. In 1999 my father contacted Roto-Rooter. The company keeps records of all past calls and shared the info with me about the 1999 incident over the telephone. It then occurred to me why my family never called Roto-Rooter since the 1999 incident. Roto-Rooter is one of the most expensive service available from my experience, and that of my family and friends. I recalled that my father complained about how expensive they were all the way back in 1999 and vowed never to use them again. We had other plumbing companies come to the house for the same problem. Pretty much every single one of them charge HALF the price of Roto-Rooter. Unfortunately I did not have a list of those plumbing companies used in the past. Thus I used the very expensive Roto-Rooter. They did a good job. But if you are "working class" and/or "poor" then this company is not a good option. These guys are tailored for people with money--only.
